This despite an agreement between CECAFA and the individual national federations that indicated that tickets would be provided by the federation. Nyamweya is likely using this as retribution because he blames Gor Mahia and other KPL clubs for the fact that many of his recent financial deals have been canceled.

A report on the KBC website (kbc.co.ke) , states that CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye said they will find ways to help KO’gallo travel to Tanzania. It makes business sense for CECAFA to facilitate Gor Mahia’s travel to Dar es salaam. To begin with, Gor Mahia will pull crowds. Besides the home teams (Azam and Yanga) , Gor Mahia will have the highest attendance. Many fans plan to travel and there are many Kenyans living in Dar es Salaam already. This will guarantee decent gate receipts for CECAFA.

From a television perspective, Supersport and their advertizers will be eager to have Gor Mahia at the tournament since it will guarantee them a large audience firstly in Kenya but also in places like Uganda where Gor Mahia has a significant fan base. Keep in mind that Gor Mahia is one of the teams with the proudest histories in East Africa. This is the case that chairman Rachier should make to CECAFA chair Nicholas Musonye. The larger the TV audience, the more money that Supersport makes. And the happier the advertizers will be since their commercials will reach a larger audience.

And finally, having a Kenyan representative at this tournament is of paramount importance to CECAFA. Having the most popular club from Kenya with the most passionate and committed fans is even better.

Further to that, the recent debacle over tickets cannot be blamed on the club. It is a result of the vindictiveness of the FKF chair and possibly lack of communication between CECAFA and FKF. Consider that even Musonye is often at odds with Nyamweya.

Players should show patience

Certain players who have not been receiving playing time appear to be running out of patience due to their lack of playing opportunities. Many of these are players who saw significant action and were often in the starting line-up but this season have been relegated to the bench.

“We don’t feel appreciated. Some of us just train for the sake of it because we know and have been told we cannot play. We are just marking time and looking for an opportunity to go,” a player, who asked not to be named, told goal.com on Thursday.

It is indeed true that this season Nuttall has stuck with the same unit. This is unlike last season where their appeared to be a squad rotation policy. However said players should show patience since Gor Mahia will soon face a backlog of fixtures. Assuming that Gor Mahia goes to Dar es Salaam for the CECAFA cup, when they come back they will face a backlog of KPL fixtures much like last season and will need to play two games a week to catch up. There is also GoTV shield and KPL Top 8 fixtures coming up.

Gor Mahia’s participation in the 2015 CECAFA club cup was thrown into confusion because FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya has declined

[1
367
post-7028","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-2015-cecafa-cup
["GET
