Gor Mahia will have an upper hand moving into the return leg of the Top8 semifinal match after seeing off their Thursday 2 August opponents Tusker FC by a solitary goal at the MISC Kasarani.<\/p>\n
High tempo<\/p>\n
The match experienced high tempo through the 90 minutes but it did not lack its controversies as Tusker conceded a penalty and a red card in the first half which turned disastrous for the side.<\/p>\n
Evans Anguyo slotted the all-important goal for Gor Mahia in the 36th minute after Tusker defender David Ochieng\u2019 handled the ball in the box from a Rama Salim cross.<\/p>\n
Brewers\u2019 lone striker David Mukaisi was 10 minutes later handed the matching orders for a reckless tackle on Gor\u2019s Joseph Pablo Njuguna.<\/p>\n
Rama, Sserunkuma<\/p>\n
The match started on a high with the dreaded combination of Dan Sserunkuma and Rama Salim running rings past the Tusker defence and causing a scare.<\/p>\n
The Brewers however showed maturity and superiority in midfield with Peter Opiyo and Odipo and Odette locked out Gor Mahia.<\/p>\n
The first half however left a sour taste in Tusker\u2019s mouth after conceding a penalty and losing their only striker Dennis Mukaisi.<\/p>\n
Second leg<\/p>\n
The second half was no different as speedy Gor Mahia forwards capitalized on the numerically weak Brewers to struggled to contain Gor.<\/p>\n
It was however a story of success as they managed to thwart K\u2019ogalo\u2019s moves turning it to a game of physique a style that earned them three yellow cards.[five]<\/p>\n
The hosts [Gor Mahia] appeared still to control the proceedings towards the end of the match but they could not seal their win with a second goal.<\/p>\n
The match ended in Gor\u2019s favor after two minutes of added time leaving them as favorites into the return leg on Wednesday 8 August 2012.<\/p>\n
