The Football Kenya Federation’s referees committee has confirmed that they are set to discuss the conduct of two match officials , who handled the Saturday match between Tusker and Gor Mahia. A meeting to discuss the two will be held on Tuesday and could see them removed from officiating in the Kenyan Premier League if found guilty of incompetence.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are reviewing the conduct of assistant referee George Mwangi and centre referee David Mulongo and will make a decision on their conduct on Tuesday. There have been some complains on how they handled the match and we must take some action.” said a source to goal.com<\/p>\n
Most observers who saw the game have accused the officials of blatant bias for awarding Tusker a penalty after Eugene Asike of Tusker handled the ball. Gor Mahia legendary defender Tobias Ocholla, who observed the match, said that such poor officiating could have a negative effect on the premier league.<\/p>\n
What kind of officiating was that? David Mwangi is a hater of Gor Mahia and the decision he made was purely intentional. He simply rewarded that penalty to Tusker out of nothing. I strongly believe that Tusker\u2019s Eugine Asike was the one who handled the ball in Gor\u2019s box and no one expected a penalty from that. That kind of officiating will hinder the country\u2019s top flight football from growing, he said to futaa.com<\/p>\n
At the very least, such poor officiating often leads to flaring tempers amongst fans.<\/p>\n
Fans arrested
\nMeawhile Six Gor Mahia fans have been charged by a Nairobi Court for taking part in an unlawful assembly and inflicting malicious damage to property follwing the unruly scenes that ensued at the match against Tusker. This according to fourfourtwo media. They were accused of pelting moving vehicles with stones along Uhuru highway. .Five of them denied the charges and were freed on a bond of 100,000 shillings or a cash bail of 20,000 shillings.
\nThey were also accused of damaging windscreens and window glasses valued at 73,000 shillings.<\/p>\n
