Sofapaka and Gor Mahia on Monday night played to a barren draw in a KPL match played at Kasarani with both teams ending the day as Culprits of wasted chances.With the draw, Sofapaka move a step upwards to second place on the log with 37 points, seven behind leaders AFC Leopards.The point also moved Gor Mahia to 5th position displacing Thika United with better goal aggregate on 33 points.<\/p>\n
Sofapaka goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng was the man of the day frequently denying the rioting Gor Mahia strikers with his spectacular saves.<\/p>\n
Gor Mahia had the perfect chance in the 8th minute , Rama Salim from the six yard box failed to finish off a perfect pass from Sserunkuma with his in foot attempt going straight into Duncan Ochieng\u2019s safe hands.<\/p>\n
For quarter an hour, action was concentrated in the midfield by both teams with Gor Mahia opting to spring their attempts from the flanks.<\/p>\n
Dan Sserunkuma missed another glorious chance in the 27th minute with a diving header that was well saved by experienced Duncan Ochieng. Sserunkuma was well picked in between a bush of Sofapaka defenders with a weighted pass from Moses Odhiambo landing on his head but the final touch lacked power to beat Ochieng.<\/p>\n
By the end of the first period, Gor Mahia with their endless attacks had stretched Duncan Ochieng to six saves three of those coming close to breaking the deadlock.<\/p>\n
Coach Logarusic pulled out Dan Sserunkuma for Edwin Lavatsa. The U-20 lad had immediate impact in the match with a free kick. Anthony Akumu then landed himself a yellow card when he attempted to sneak in a goal with the support of his hands after keeper Duncan Ochieng failed to deal with a cross from a corner kick.<\/p>\n
Bob Mugalia had the best chance for Sofapaka in the 67th minute being picked on the far left by Humphrey Mieno but alone with Jerim Onyango to beat, Mugalia placed wide.<\/p>\n
Duncan Ochieng was at it again with his experienced reflex in the 72nd minute blocking Kevin Omondi\u2019s close range rifle.<\/p>\n
Substitute Itubu Imbem who came in for a fasting Rama Salim was also denied in spectacular style by the man of the day Duncan Ochieng who powerfully stopped his rifling shot five minutes to the end of the match.<\/p>\n
No matter how frequent they attempted to get the elusive goal in the final minutes, Duncan Ochieng was always somewhere behind the ball to deny the Green army maximum points as the match ended 0-0.<\/p>\n

I give a big hand to my defense and goalkeepers for standing strong to deny their top strikers throughout the match. Matches like this one you either win or lose by small margins and it is disappointing that we lost chances. Gor Mahia coach who looked depressed at every lost chance throughout the match simply said his team was not lucky to have scored even after creating so many chances.<\/p>\n
