Gor Mahia started their 2016 GoTV shield campaign by flooring Mahakama of Mombasa 3-0 at Kasarani on Saturday

\nAfter an entertaining five minutes of passes and beautiful runs, defender Abouba Sibomana scored from a free-kick on the 7th minute to give Gor Mahia their first goal.<\/p>\n
The pot kept boiling and on the 15th minute former Western Stima forward Baron Oketch was picked out with a cross but instead of drilling in a shot past keeper Athman Mohammed, he blasted wide out.<\/p>\n
Mahakama then piled up pressure playing in Gor Mahia’s half and cleared a potential threat on the 16th minute when Gor Mahia won a corner-kick. Two minutes later, Jacob Keli was fed with a good chance after Wellington Ochieng asmd Ronald Omino had combined well on the right wing.<\/p>\n
Ochieng’ played well with Omino from a set-piece on the 22nd minute giving the former Muhoroni Youth defender a clean chance to unleash a shot which landed on keeper’s safe hands. In the 25th minute, Jacob Keli made use of a goalmouth melee to double the score line for K’Ogalo a minute before Baron Oketch blasted the ball wide over the bar from a free-kick.<\/p>\n
At the half-hour mark, Enock Agwanda saw his shot hit the side net in what was an open chance for the third goal. In the 39th minute, Mahakama keeper saved his side denying Agwanda an opportunity to put his name on the score sheet just inside the box. Welington Ochieng then did all the work on the right wing tossing the ball to Jacob Keli but the latter failed to connect it to the net two minutes later.<\/p>\n
Gor Mahia coach Ze Maria then brought in Francis Kahata few minutes to the break just to stir-up the team. His classic touches in the midfield empowered the likes of Baron Oketch and Keli upfront but efforts didn’t bare fruits to halftime whistle. Both teams showed intention of scoring on resumption with notable move by Mahakama’s Salim Mohammed, who tasted Boniface Oluoch’s hands in the 51st minute from a free-kick.<\/p>\n
Youngster Amos Nondi then got an open chance for Gor Mahia but his shot was deflected by a Mahakama defender to find Enock Agwanda, whose effort was thwarted by the keeper five minutes later. Baron Oketch had readied himself for the job on the left. In the 64th minute, keeper Mohammed rose to the occasion once again stopping Agwanda from scoring. He did that again in the 70th minute.<\/p>\n
The introduction of Jaques Tuyisenge and defender Eric Ouma thereafter energized Gor Mahia. Tuyisenge almost scored from a Kahata cross twice as Ouma did his duty on the left flank. Ouma did not rest. He crossed from the left corner to find right-placed Jacob Keli, who used the opportunity to complete his brace with a brilliant header. That became the third goal<\/p>\n
