{"id":8996,"date":"2016-11-02T02:36:46","date_gmt":"2016-11-02T02:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/?p=8996"},"modified":"2016-11-02T02:36:46","modified_gmt":"2016-11-02T02:36:46","slug":"gor-mahia-misses-caf-deadline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gormahia.net\/latest\/news\/gor-mahia-misses-caf-deadline\/","title":{"rendered":"Gor Mahia misses CAF deadline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/gormahia.net\/images\/caf-champs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gor Mahia could miss next season&#8217;s continental assignments even if they qualify after having missed CAF deadlines for licensing.<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting from the Standard<\/p>\n<p>Gor Mahia risk missing out on continental football next season, should they win this year\u2019s Kenyan Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>K\u2019Ogalo failed to meet the October 31, 2016 deadline set by CAF for club licensing.<\/p>\n<p>Only two clubs, Tusker and Ulinzi Stars, have met the deadline, with Ulinzi being granted a provisional license.<\/p>\n<p>Football Kenya Federation Communications Manager Barry Otieno said Gor Mahia have not adhered to the requirements for club licensing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a risk that should Gor Mahia win the Kenyan Premier League, they may not take part in the Champions League because they have not complied with the requirements for club licensing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a lot they have not done towards compliance. However, it is up to the compliance committee to decide whether the club is doing enough,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Otieno said other clubs have until December 31 to comply for them to take part in the KPL next season.<\/p>\n<p>Contacted, Gor Mahia acting Secretary General Ronald Ngala said they are taking steps to comply.<br \/>\nSee Also: TUSSLE GOES ON: Mathare United launch complaint against KPL over Betway deal<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompliance is a process and we are working towards it. We are facing some challenges especially in having a new constitution and we hope to work on it and submit soon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Before complying with the requirements for club licensing, Gor Mahia must also comply with the Sports Act. Past efforts to pass a new constitution have failed after members failed to agree on the modalities.
