Gor Mahia have apparently parted ways with promising defender Eric Ouma “Marcelo”. Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed to goal.com<\/p>\n
\u201cEric Ouma\u2019s contract has expired and we have not talked with him on the possibility of renewing it. He is not our player as we speak because we don\u2019t have contract with him,\u201d Rachier Said.<\/p>\n
A source confirmed to goal.com that Marcelo has indeed left the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cEric Ouma has been dropped and will not be part of our 2017 squad. He never showed interest in playing for us and we have decided to cut the ties.\u201d said the source<\/p>\n
There has been contention within the club regarding the fact that Marcelo insists on a 6 month renewal whereas the club has been trying to get him to sign a 2 year contract.<\/p>\n
The club has also announced that the contracts of Boniface Oluoch and Karim Nizigiyimana have been extended for two years to end of 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cGor Mahia is pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch and defender Karim Nizigiyimana have each extended their stay at the club for 2 years respectively.” according the club site.\u00a0 Abouba Sibomana, whose contract expired, has also left the club.<\/p>\n
According to the club site, seven players have so far been signed by the club:<\/p>\n
Here is the full list: Shaban Odhoji (from Ushuru for three years), Jean-Baptiste Mugiraneza (from Azam for two years), Oliver Maloba (from City Stars for three years), Philemon Otieno (from Ushuru for three years), Jeconiah Uyoga (for four years), John Ndirangu (from AFC Leopards for three years) and Alpha Onyango (from the team’s U20 side).<\/p>\n
Alpha Onyango was one of the standouts from the recently concluded KPL U20 tournament.<\/p>\n
Jeconiah Uyoga was the second leading scorer in the recently concluded Extreme\u00a0 Sports Super 8, while playing for Technical University of Kenya (TUK).<\/p>\n
According to a report from futaa.com, a number of players have been dropped by the club:<\/p>\n
Jerry Onyango, Crispin Odula, Baron Jobita, Jackson Saleh, Luke Ochieng, Gradus Ochieng, Sammy Okinda, Ronald Omino, Bernard Odhiambo and Jacob Keli.<\/p>\n
Jerim Onyango, the long serving club skipper has long indicated an interest in pursuing a political seat : MCA of his home\u00a0 in Ugunja, Ugenya constituency.<\/p>\n
“I have not retired just yet, who knows I could play for another six months before retiring but the truth is I will be seeking a political seat in 2017 and so I am still consulting on the best way to go about it.” he said.<\/p>\n
Chairman Ambrose Rachier was however concerned that Jerim would be too distracted to focus on football in 2017.<\/p>\n
