Gor Mahia will be looking to consolidate their lead atop the 2017 Kenya Premier League table when they take on Nzoia United at Moi stadium Kisumu on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Bungoma based side started the league on a strong note, recording wins over Tusker and AFC Leopards and at one point it looked like they might challenge for the league title. But they have since come down to earth. Their last two games were less than impressive, drawing 0-0 with Chemelil Sugar and losing 1-3 to Sofapaka. But they cannot be under-rated given that in the past two months, they have beaten Ulinzi twice and also beaten Posta Rangers.<\/p>\n
Coach Dylan Kerr has admitted that he knows nothing about them.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor sure I do not know how they play, but my job is to prepare my team and ensure tactics are in place to win the match. It is important that we get maximum points and ensure we maintain our gap and lead,\u201d he said to goal.com<\/p>\n
Gor Mahia will have to play without key midfielder Godfrey Walusimbi who was away playing for Uganda Cranes.<\/p>\n
“My program has been tampered with a little, owing to the international break, like the Harambee Stars players reported on Wednesday, and that has affected my plans.” he said.<\/p>\n
Coach Kerr knows that the biggest weakness in the past few weeks has been the attack. Kagere and Tuyisenge in particular have been guilty of missing numerous chances. Kerr says the team has been working on rectifying this situation.<\/p>\n
“We are working on our finishing; we have to ensure we get as many goals as possible and defend well.” he told goal.com<\/p>\n
It is not clear if Kogalo have had enough practise time given that they were locked out of their training ground for several days.<\/p>\n
The last time Gor Mahia played Nzoia Sugar was in Mid May and Kogalo emerged 1-0 winners with a goal from Meddie Kagere.<\/p>\n
