The defending champions are likely to move joint top if they win their match in hand against arch rivals AFC Leopards

Gor Biro, Yawne Yo (translating to Gor is coming, clear the way) is a song on the lips of every Gor Mahia fan after the club humbled Bandari 2-0 to move to three points within reach of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) summit.

The record league champions had been often ignored in the title talks in the current season, owing to their poor start, inconsistent performances, and change of coaches, among other factors.

However, the league giants appear to have stabilized under Croatian head coach Sinisa Mihic, as they have closed in on the duo of Kenya Police FC and 12-time champions Tusker FC.

The win over Bandari was crucial in their resolve to catch up with the two teams, given that a loss of points would have left a significant dent in their title hopes.

After the referee blasted the final whistle at Dandora Stadium, every Gor fan, even those who never believed it, had reasons to back the team in the hunt for the 22nd title.

In fact, it will take something special for the Kennedy Odhiambo-coached side to clinch their first league title this season.

Since making controversial remarks over the quality of footballs opponents were showing up with at Mombasa, Odhiambo and Bandari are yet to win a league match.

Bandari, who have gone for four matches without a win, last won a league match on 8 February when they beat Sofapaka 1-0.
