Akhulia praised the entertainment value of Bidco's dramatic 4-3 defeat to Gor Mahia

The final game of the season between Bidco United and Gor Mahia was one of the most entertaining matches of the season, at least according to Bidco FC head coach Antony Akhulia who addressed the press after the match that was played at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos county.

In the end the match ended in a 4-3 win to K'Ogalo. No one would have predicted seven goals in the match before kick off. Benson Omalla opened the score sheet inside the first minute pouncing on a goalkeeper error before adding a second from the spot after being brought down in the penalty area in the 5th minute. Bidco pulled one back through a fierce strike by John Kelwish in the 34th minute with Gor Mahia leading 2-1 at half time.

In the second half, Kelwish got his second of the day in the 66th minute as he looped the ball over an oncoming Kevin Omondi in Gor Mahia's goal to equalize for Bidco.

The flood of goals continued when Mark Shaban restored Gor’s lead in the 83rd minute and Kenyan International Rooney Onyango scored his team's fourth in the third minute of additional time. There was still time for gols as Jacob Onyango scored Bidco’s third to finish the seven goal thriller.

“It has been a good game. I suppose it has been one of the most entertaining matches in the league this season because for a game ending 4-3, it hashd goals and also a good game from both teams.” said Akhulia

In his assessment of his team, Akhulia cited the lack of concentration on the loss to champions Gor Mahia.

“We made many mistakes, especially at the beginning of the match but we made amends and equalized. We further lost concentration and they scored two other goals and after that we tried to come back but it wasn't enough in the end.”

Akhulia who was targeting a top 10 finish slightly missed his target as Bidco ended the league in the 11th position and will be looking forward to better preparations and a more successful 2024/2025 season.
