Report from MSN
Gor Mahia's poor run of form continued on Friday as they were held to a frustrating draw by Bandari at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.

George Ojunga scored in the second half to cancel Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw's goal as both teams settled for a point apiece.

Gor Mahia came into this game looking to end their losing streak. In their last two games, they were beaten by their rivals, AFC Leopards, in the Mashemeji derby and by newly-promoted APS Bomet.

Bandari, meanwhile, were no better, having only won twice the whole season. The Dockers sacked their head coach, Mohamed Borji, just before the Gor Mahia game, with Razak Siwa stepping in temporarily for the Gor Mahia visit.

Bandari dominated the opening exchanges of the game with Hassan Abdalla and Amza Moubarak causing problems for the Gor Mahia backline.

Abdalla’s cross was saved by Bryne Omondi, with Moubarak tripping over, but the foul went Gor Mahia’s way. Down the end, Shariff Musa remained a live wire with zero end product.

It was Gor Mahia who finally broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Ghanaian striker Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw tapped in from close range before pulling off a ridiculous goal celebration

In the second half, the hosts came back as the much better side, and it didn’t take them long to get an equaliser. Hassan’s free-kick was flicked by Geoffrey Ojunga, which beat Omondi in the Gor Mahia goal for 1-1.

The dockers had other half-chances, to take the lead as Gor Mahia wrestled to regain control. Akonnor took off Edu-Kwaw and brought in Patrick Essombe as he chased the winning goal, which didn't come.

Speaking after the game, Akonnor blamed the Mombasa weather for the result but insisted his team did well.

"The change in weather affected us. But in all fairness, we did well, and we had some chances, and in the last minute, we could have scored. It is a good start because don't forget, we have lost our two matches."

Up next for Akonnor will be a game against Kakamega Homeboyz to try and arrest the situation before Christmas. Dejected Gor Mahia fans took to social media to raise concerns amid a pathetic run of form.

Anthony Otieno said,

"I hope the coach has his passport; there's an international airport in the coastal region. If you know, you know."

Daniel Otieno said,

"The way a cookie crumbles. The coach must come with his passport to the next fixture."

While Nick Owiti said,

"Huyu hata Zico ameshinda, with that kind of squad, he can only manage a point in 3 matches! Bureee"

How much Gor Mahia earned from Mashemeji derby

In a different report, Gor Mahia made millions in their defeat to AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby.

Thousands of fans turned up at the Nyayo National Stadium for the game, helping the club make a huge amount in ticket sales.
