The defending champions are in search of a new coach following the exit of Leonardo Neiva
Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are open to the possibility of hiring a local coach, who will succeed sacked Brazilian Leonardo Martins Neiva.
K'Ogalo are in search of a new head coach after sacking Nieva last week over a series of unwanted results in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.
Club legend Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno, who served as an assistant to Neiva, was tasked to take charge pending the arrival of a new head coach.
There has been a longstanding belief that local coaches are unable to handle the pressure that comes with managing the most successful club in the land.
However, club vice chairman Francis Wasuna says the door is open for coaches trained by the Football Kenya Federation to apply for the vacant position.
"We are open to having a local coach succeed Neiva. They are encouraged to apply so long as they have the right badges. We are an equal opportunity employer," he said.
Besides the CAF A badge or an equivalent, Wasuna promised that the club will conduct a thorough background search on the shortlisted candidates, and pick the one with a proven track record and a history of lasting long at his workstations.
"We can pledge that we will hand over the responsibility to a candidate, who possesses a decent profile and can commit to work with us for long," he offered
Asked about the objectives set for the new coach, Wasuna revealed that defending the league was a top priority for the club, which seeks to make it three titles in a row.
He expressed confidence that K'Ogalo will plug the significant gap between them and high-flying KCB FC and retain the league title.
"The candidate whom we shall settle on will be expected to win the league title. We believe that it is too early to rule us out of the title race.
We have a chance to close in from the three matches in hand. He should be good in player development as well," he said.
