2025 Gor Mahia Elections

Post by faraja »

Report from Mozzartsports
Rachier beat the outgoing treasurer Dolphina in poll conducted at Nyayo National Stadium.

City lawyer Ambrose Rachier has been re-elected as Gor Mahia chairman once again.

He got 658 votes, while his opponent Dolphina Achieng got 406.

When his new term ends in 2029, Rachier will have led the club for 21 years.

Rachier was initially poised to retain his seat unopposed after other aspirants failed to pay the nomination fees on time.

However, a ruling by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) reopened the nomination window, allowing Achieng and other candidates to submit their papers ahead of the Sunday polls.

Achieng, a vocal critic of Rachier's long-standing leadership style, had frequently issued press statements condemning his administration. Eventually, she decided to join the race but was defeated by the veteran lawyer, who will now legally serve his final term as Gor Mahia's chairman.

In the vice chairman race, former club treasurer Sally Bolo emerged victorious with 610 votes, defeating Victor Mbaka who garnered 488. Like Dolphina, Bolo had also been granted a lifeline by the SDT, which allowed her to register after the original deadline had passed.

For the Secretary General position, Nick Arum unseated incumbent Sam Ochola, winning with 582 votes against Ochola’s 501.

In the other contested position, outgoing committee member Gerphas Okuku emerged victorious, being elected as Gor Mahia’s honorary treasurer after narrowly defeating Philip Nyakwana with 527 votes against 524.

The elected officials will serve for a four-year term.
