Kakamega Homeboyz Saturday edged Gor Mahia 2-1 at Bukhungu Stadium to end K'Ogalo's unbeaten run in 2021/22 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) campaign.

At Nakuru’s Agricultural Showgrounds, Ulinzi Stars beat struggling Vihiga Bullets 2-0, while at Wundanyi Stadium in Taita Taveta, Sofapaka rallied from behind to force a 1-1 draw with Posta Rangers.

At Bukhungu Stadium, Homeboyz defender George Odiwuor and midfielder Stephen Opuku struck on 20 and 55 minutes respectively to reduce Peter Lwasa’s early strike to a mere consolation goal for the 19-time champions.

The match was marred by hooliganism after centre referee was attacked by a Gor fan at half-time when the two teams were heading to their respective changing rooms.

The fan felt aggrieved by the penalty that was awarded to Homeboyz in the 20th minute, which Odiwuor made no mistake in slotting home.

Yema Mwana is the Homeboyz player who was fouled inside the box, resulting in the penalty. It was the third incident of hooliganism at the venue this season.

On November 7, NTV reporter Zacchaeus Mwasame was roughed up by a section of Homeboyz supporters for recording chaos between them and traveling Bandari fans.The match ended 1-1.

Former Vihiga’s coach Evans Mafuta was also attacked by an irate supporter on October 20 after they lost 3-0 to Kariobangi Sharks.

Homeboyz are now the only side that is yet to lose a match this season. Their victory over K’Ogalo saw them move to second on the log with 21 points, same as leaders KCB. Gor slip to third on 18 points.
