Minister Namwamba slams Gor Mahia for incompetence

Post by faraja »

Waziri Ababu Namwamba says Gor Mahia should be one of the best teams in Africa by now if the officials were transparent and accountable
Namwamba has slammed 20-time FKFPL champions Gor Mahia for a number of reasons, including going to train in a Tanzanian club “born the other day”.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has asked Kenyan football clubs to become more transparent, accountable, and have good governance, slamming Gor Mahia for multiple reasons, including their decision to go train at Tanzanian side Azam FC’s training grounds.

Namwamba was speaking when FKF signed a deal with KBC to become the league’s broadcast partners on Thursday afternoon, with the deal now assured to help each club earn not less than Ksh10 million a year.

The charismatic CS challenged all clubs to take accountability for the resources that will be coming into the clubs moving forward

“Taking Kenyan football to the next level is about transparency, accountability and good governance,” Namwamba said.

“If there is something that is holding Kenyan football back, it is those three factors. That extends to clubs. I can assure clubs, that if you are transparent and accountable and have good governance, you are sitting on golden mines.

All of you football clubs, you are sitting on golden mines. Stop treating your clubs as your little fiefdoms for your self-aggrandizement. Unleash the full potential that is locked in your clubs. Be accountable, be transparent about every resource that is coming to you and run your clubs as co-oporate entities.

Namwamba aimed a brutal dig at Gor Mahia and the transparency and poor governance related issues that have put them into relatively unwanted predicaments.

“The Tanzanians are doing it across the border. Tanzanian football could not hold the candle to Kenyan football just a few years ago. Now we are using them as a benchmark, like seriously?

“That Gor Mahia tells me that they want to train on Azam FC grounds in Tanzania, like seriously? Gor Mahia?

You want to go train on a ground built by a club born the other day and you are the only African champion in this region, South of the Sahara and North of the Limpopo? Come on!

“What does it say about you Gor Mahia that you want to go train on the grounds of Azam? There must be something very wrong with you.

“I am telling you that I will not papa you. Be serious. Be accountable, be transparent and run your clubs as co-orporate entities.

There is no reason why Gor Mahia is not in the CAF Champions League this year, because of little administrative hiccups, you miss a chance to enter a space that is a money spinner!

Well said Bwana waziri. This club should be in Africa Champions League every season if not for the lack of transparency and opacity of officials. Too much thievery
