Murang’a Seal stunned the champions from the outset. Joe Waithira opened the scoring in the 4th minute, poking the ball past the Gor Mahia goalkeeper after a swift attacking move. Just before the half-hour mark, Memusi doubled the visitors’ lead in the 28th minute, delicately chipping the ball over the keeper to put Seal firmly in control.

The fightback was complete moments later. In the 49th minute, Paul Ochuoga struck to make it 2–2, turning the momentum decisively in Gor’s favour and igniting the home crowd.
The decisive blow came in the 82nd minute when super sub Ebenezer Assifuah found the net, calmly finishing from a low pass to secure the comeback and send the stadium into raptures.
