Bwana clears the air on player bonuses

Courtesy of futaa.com

The standoff that led to a Friday 19 April meeting between the Gor Mahia management and the players over unpaid bonuses has been solved amicably, George Bwana, the club’s secretary general has confirmed to futaa.com.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Gor Mahia players had boycotted training in protest over unpaid dues and Bwana has come out to categorically acknowledge that indeed the club owes the players winning bonuses for two matches, the wins over KCB and Ulinzi Stars.

CAF bills

He attributed the delay to the huge bills incurred when the team was taking part in the CAF Confederations Cup tournament which he said overstretched the club’s budget, a matter he noted that they explained to the players and reiterated the executive’s dedication to players’ welfare.

-It is true we owe the players some money, winning bonuses for two matches – the Ulinzi win and most recently the KCB one. This whole situation was caused by the huge budget for the continental games that we took part in and at the moment we are from a meeting with the players, where we told them everything about it and all is settled.

Team’s welfare

-We are working hard to ensure that these outstanding monies are paid; our dedication to the team’s well being is never in question and you also realize that we haven’t played many home matches yet that is where we get the money to pay them, he said.

Incitement

Bwana also revealed that the problem emanated from incitement by a member of the team’s technical bench since the players had initially declined to take bonuses from three previous wins, demanding that they be given the full amount.

-Initially we owed the players bonuses for five wins but had cleared three of those though we later came to learn that the players had refused to take that, demanding that we give them all of it but from our investigations we since have learnt that a member of the technical bench was inciting them over the same issue.

Under control

-We have as well spoken about this to the players and though I can’t name the technical bench member we will treat this issue as one of utmost indiscipline. But all that aside, the situation is under control, he added.

Gor Mahia players are entitled to winning bonuses of 5000 shillings each.

Player payments should be at the top of the list. We do not want to hear our players complaining. We want them well taken care of and motivated. While our oponents are busy preparing we are still discussing 5k issues

That bloated technical bench + officials! They are gobbling all the money leaving very little for the players, who are the most important unit here. Let’s reduce positions in the next elections

  • Bure Kabisa,Executive Community. There is absolutely no excuse for failing to pay players for “winning”. They have done their job and should be paid promptly in full.
The executive community should resign ati CAF tourney overstretched the budget WHAT IF K’GALO WERE TO PROGRESS ALL THE WAY TO THE FINAL. Now executive community want to use this as an excuse to purge the TB.

  • Blames stop with all our fans who are triggered about holding usesless and outdated AGMs with financial reports presented to fans are not audted by certified accountants.

Our fans are busy making useless posting in this site without first cleaning ourselves. We fans have let Gor Mahia down by being confused by these useless officials without keeping them on their toes and checks with accountabilty and transparency.

Fans are to be blamed beacause you want Gor Mahia to be run through the outdated AGMs with fans being ferried and bought by these visionless officials. I need an answer for the following questions:-

    1. Why do our fans being easily confused by people like Bwana, Kilo, Faiz, Nyandega, ominde, Ngala etc who does not deserve to hold office anywhere? Even in villages where they are coming from, they can not be elected.

    2. Do fans scrutinize officials before these useless AGMs?

    3. How do fans allow themselves to be used by these confused officials to continue being in office illegally?

    4. Why are we fans allowing these inept officias to extend their tenure in office?

    5. Why can’t we fans change or turn the club to a professional outfit company and business enterprise? I rest my long case with lots of tears flowing down to my knees.

Fellow blogers, I dont think that it is usefull to condemn EC without using facts. It will be foolish 4r someone to assume that our budget was not stretched during the CAF competition.Let us pray that EC led by Rachier will find a way of solving this issue. Some pple who r quick to condemn EC cannot even run a club of under 13 yet they think that managing k’ogalo is running a kiosk. Players have always received their salaries in time and this is just bonnuses and am sure they will be paid.

  • Where does money from gate collections go?

Secretary General and other officials are busy milking the club left right and centre. Players allowances should be paid immediately after the game if Gor Mahia is the home team.

We are sick and tired with these circuses. Rachier the chairman need to take the full responsility on this matter. These days we do not hear the total gate collections from our games.

If we have 30 players, total allowances should be Kshs.600,000 which is significantly lower than the total collections and one game is enough to clear all outstanding allowances.

Wellsfargo should tell us the truth about all gate collections as I am fully sure and persuaded that Kilo, Bwana, Faiz, Rachier, Ominde, Nyandega etc should tell us where the money goes after every game. Why is Wellsfargo on this matter?

We had in the past made good suggestions on how gate collections need to be managed. None of these officials is willing to tell us the truth. some of the best way to manage gate collections are:-

    1. Contract a bank to make collections by issue of stamped deposit receipts at points of entries. This will ensure that all monies will be in the bank account.

    2. Open MPESA account where the fans will send money and the message should be used as entrance. When fans have made entry the message should be deleted at the gate of entry.

    3. Hire the firms that manages airport and supermarkets ticketings processes just an example of what KPLC Charity Cup was handled and managed.

    4. Get sponsors that can buy all Gor Mahia home games with such companies can pay the club between Kshs.1.5 – 5.0 million depending with the matches.

Current ticketings methodology is outdated and this is how our club is being robbed by greedy and selfish officials who do not care about the welfare of players. Any of the above methods would ensure transprency and accountability.

Why should a club like Gor Mahia have over 10 officials? We just need three officials at most that is the chairman, Executive Officer and Finance Director. What are the roles of these bloated officials with each of them are printing tickets which are sold first before the officials tickets are sold.

I strongly propose that The Kenya Ethics and Anticorruption team should be asked to probe these greedy officials. These good for nothing officials have bought cars using our money from gate collection and all of them are competing on how many tickets they have prnited and sold using some fans to execute their dirty tricks.

Finally fellow fans, it is all of us Gor Mahia fans to be blamed for the rot at the gate while players that make us go to stadium are starved by the greedy officials we ourselves elected through uncoordinated and outdated AGMs.

If we fans continue with the same useless AGMs and bloated office, we will not get servanthood in running the club. We fans should reap what we have sowed in poor leadership.

  • GOR MAHIA RUGBY 7 ‘s

    Comrades,

Allow me to think big. It is laughable and indeed shameful for a high profile club such as Gor Mahia fail to pay winning bonuses to it’s players citing empty coffers. The club is just about to celebrate it’s jubilee and indeed there is nothing to be proud of except a name.

The club just like many other institutions in Kenya has been brought to it’s knees by inept and corrupt officials. Let me be clear. I want to categorically express confidence to the current Executive Committee headed by Ambrose Rachier. From TPL rankings, revenue, sponsorship and fan base increament, the officials have made immeasurable steps during their tenure. I hope the next administration gonna build on these successes going forward.

In order to diversify our revenue base, I suggest our leadership to consider the establishment of Gor Mahia rugby 7’s team. Rugby is now a popular sport in Kenya after football. The sport fan base is growing tremendously. The club can thus use the revenue from rugby to improve players and officials welfare.

I am daring to bring big and also encouraging the current administration to also think big. in the next Annual General Meeting of the club, we will not elect a chairperson who shall not put a manifesto before the branches. Our office needs a complete overhaul. We need men and women who will take this club to the next level.

It is an open secret some people have used their position on this club to achieve their political ambitions. The late Joab Omino did it. And who knows A. Rachier harbors the same ambitions? A time for us has come to elect any man or woman who is 100 percent devoted to this club. I have no doubt in my mind such person is in our midst?

Can you identify him/ her? The earlier, the better. God bless you and God bless K’Ogalo.

  • Problems in Gor Mahia are self made by fans. Why do we fans allow a broke and poor men to run our business?

How do we fans vote for lazy and jobless officials to be in charge of our club affairs? I note being jobless is not a sin but God hates slaggard people.

Who has bewitched our fans in making wrong decisons in electing good for nothing officials? Why can’t we always open our eyes to see far?

After attending some home matches recently, I can confirm that what I witnessed at the gate of main stand is regretable. A well known fan have approached me on several occassions to sell a ticket to me but I refused to buy and instead went to wellsfargo booth to buy the match ticket. In this regard, we fans are being played and duped by the same office bearers to continue stealing from the club by enlisting the services of idle and money hungry plans to execute their evil plans.

This episode of our own fans being hired by officials to sell their pre-printed tickets hence denying the club its rightfull earned revenue must be stopped at all cost. These busybodies fans should be identified and arrested or handedover to police.

Where do Gor Mahia procure the printing of match entry tickets? Who is in charge of printing these tickets? Can the club engage reputable security printing institutions such as Dela Rue to print the tickets with security features such as watermarks that cannot be replicated by these greedy and corrupt officials?

It is time to adopt biometric ticketing to ensure the club maximises the gate collections. Club officials should talk to the organizers of KPLC Charity Cup on how they came up with ticketing systems with a view of adopting the same. But my big question remains on whether these officials will agree to such proposals.

Let us look back, in 2008 when Rachier took over as the chairman of Gor mahia there were no fans and we as the few who were attending the matches were contibuting to help players go home with something. What am trying to say is that Rachier as the name suggest in Luo ressurected Gor to go back to its rightfull position. In 2008 Gor was nolonger a giant in kenyan football.I realy dont think that there is anyone who is more Gor than Rachier & I dont think that Rachier is among those involved in fleesing Gor .

so when we talk about corrupt officials let us not include Rachier bcos he is always committed 2 this great club.Last year he even spent more than 2million in this club.we as fans r also 2 blame. if we could be attending matches the way we did at the end of last season then we could not have such problems.can anyone of the blogers say that he can manage Gor better than rachier.Let us not just talk bcos there is a site 2 talk.If we cont like this then we should be ready be at the bottom

  • The weakest link in K’galo is the Executive Committee, nay EXECUTIVE COMMUNITY WHICH BRINGS ABOUT EXECUTIVE CONFUSION.
1.I take issue with the comment that some bloggers “cannot even run an under 13 year old club.”That is neither here nor there since it is our duty to point not to accept rudimentary failures. And if you cannot pay winning bonuses then you are telling the players to lose games. We are very lucky that our players simply staged a sit in for starters.
2.Apart, from the corruption at the gate,Why give Kango/SSMB 20% of gate collections as stadium hire fees (1M at one instance) while Mathare United pays kshs.25,000 per game.
3.Are officials raising any monies from merchandizing, and why has it taken them long to sort out the replica jersey saga which can raise funds for the club.EC is incompetent
4.Last year I said that with Nyamweya and these officials there will be no announcement of GATE COLLECTIONS. Ticketmaster used to faithfully give figures after every match. WHY HAS THIS STOPPED?
5.An official may lack money but have ideas. Rachier has money but no (rather lacks the will) to implement IDEAS.The rest of the EC lacks both money and the will to implement idea.WHY? ALL ARE IN GMFC FOR PERSONAL BENEFIT
    See R Ngala’s post on 12/04/2013
“In the contrary these posts were created so that the occupants could contribute money to run the club’s daily operations, something which has turned out to be counter productive because one will look for the best opportunity possible refund what he/she had used earlier leading to what I would term as mismanagement.”

Finally I second Mwakio’s statements that the entire EC should be investigated by the Ethics & Anti-corruption Commission.

Rachier should engineer a total change at the EC by 1st streamlining it. One cannot be great by just contributing lots of money and being nice. He has to make the next step which makes the EC a small efficient functioning unit.

  • Challenges are part of life. However, the player’s welfare come first. Assuming the team managed to move to the next level of the continental games, how would you (Bwana Secretary) manage the situation? KOGALO is a big club and proper preparation is required all the time. Lets join hands and support our team. GO KOGALO GO
