Bwana: We will not let Sserunkuma go

Club secretary general George Bwana reveals to Goal they are not going to release the Ugandan striker, despite handing in transfer request

A new tug of war has erupted between Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia and influential striker Dan Sserunkuma.

The club has declined to release Sserunkuma, who has indicated he wants to leave. Club Secretary General George Bwana has revealed to Goal that they received a request from the player to leave but insists that will not happen due to contractual obligations.

“Last week, the player wrote to us requesting that he be allowed to leave but our position has not changed. He still has 14 months remaining on his contract and we are not ready to release him at this time.

“He still has to see out his contract and then any club which wants him must talk to us and if we agree then he can leave. That is the rule everywhere.”

This is the second time Sserunkuma is trying force his way out of club. The first time was three months ago when he left for trials in Armenia but the move was forestalled by Gor Mahia.

In the meantime, Gor Mahia will be looking to bolster their squad by signing three players from Uganda, all of whom have had previous ties with Coach Bobby Williamson. Among them is Musa Mudde who used to play for Sofapaka and Geoffrey Walusimbi.

listen to what Bwana is saying, which is the correct position. Seremkuma can go so long as the clubs that want him buy out the remainder of his contract. SSerenkuma by now shud be understanding what contracts are all about.after the blunder he did last time he shud have learnt by now. football is business and it’s not managed out of ‘what you have done for us’. if a club seriously wants sserunkuma then pay up. this is the same mistake p.opiyo tried to make ‘wailing’ on how his club let him down. what kind of useless managers do these players have. It’s good Bwana has pointed this out. africans socialism died long time ago. Serenkuma is a good players but pls get some good adviser.

They say make hay while the sun shines. This is applicable to both Gor and Sserenkuma. This guy has been diligent lets not be an impediment. There are two contradictory statements on this issue. We seriously need an information office to give info on such critical issues.

As Gor fans we are all agreed that Danny has served his part of the bargain and gor should do likewise. As fans we don’t want to have another ‘Awilo’ in terms of livelihood. G. Bwana as much as we like Gor we will not be happy with you making the players miserable. Yes, we want to win but we want players to be proud of Gor when they are no longer active players. Do you know that we can end of scaring quality and ambitious players from joining gor if we behave like this. Danny put his ambition on hold to help the team why can’t the team help him and also when we say that we will not stand in the way of any player wanting to go for greener pastures do we really mean it? Does this mean that as a team we are unable to recruit quality players such that we have to ‘milk’ our best players ‘dry’ so that they cannot play elsewhere.
This is annoying from the secretariat, no wonder the goons smashed one of the official’s cars even after they promised us a water-tight security detail during the GOtv final

  • Bwana you are mad there is no way you can keep a player who is not happy.
Please pay up the player or let him go at a price of course football is a business to both the club and player…vote this Bwana guy out his thinking is not constructive and anyway he has done his part acha aende nyumbani….he cannot continue frustrating players like this they have their economic rights too.
