Four Players dropped

Gor Mahia have announced four players who will be dropped during the mid season transfer season.  According to michezoafrika.com, the four are Victor Ali Abondo, Zachary Onyango, Yusuf Juma and Abbey Nattey.

Ali Abondo had been a favourite of coach Logarusic due to his tactical awareness. He has played in more than half of the games this year. But of late he has been accused of not putting forth enough effort. During the 0-0 draw with Tusker, coach Bobby Ogolla was noted saying : “You look at players like Victor Ali, he’s lazy. He doesn’t want to play and there is nothing we can do when it comes to that. The only thing we know is we have done our best to give him a chance.”  “That is why he is always the first to be subbed and he shouldn’t really blame anyone except himself.”

Zachary Onyango was signed from Ethiopia Coffee but has not been fielded in a single match. Gor Mahia are said to be interested in signing a younger goalkeeper whom they can groom. This could be good news for Zachary because like Wycliff Kasaya, he is an experienced goalkeeper who can find a home in another team where he will get playing time.

Yusuf Juma once played for the Gor Mahia U19 team then let for Thika United where he became a star even earning rave reviews when he played for the national team. He has been unable to gain a foothold since joining the club in January 2012.

Abbey Nattey joined in January of 2013 from SoNy Sugar and has seen no playing time other than in friendlies.

George Bwana has told michezoafrika.com that they are in talks with other players whom they hope can join the team before June 22.

Injuries

Given the rash of injuries the club faced in the first leg, it seems clear that more than 25 players are needed. Chances are that Innocent Mutiso’s injury troubles will recur as will those of others. So why not expand the squad.

Not all players need to be first time players. But Gor Mahia before Logarusic always had a tradition of having young reserve players who are fielded in midweek friendly matches and in lesser tournaments like the KPL top 8. Since Loga says that a squad of more than 25 players is too big then the reserve players can be assigned to work with a different coach. Not only does this provide more depth but one or two of these players could end up being a useful first team player who belongs to the club and is not on loan from another club.

A few months ago, Ambrose Rachier announced that they had identified four players with plenty of potential from schools , mostly from Upper Hill school whom they plan to work with. This idea was never purused.

personally i have no objection to that.however, why did we recruit Zachary and Abbey and dint give them a chance?i hope we wont be treated to the same kind of circus with the new recruits that Loga “left a list to be recruited”!!

K’Ogalo the sick bay of many football players. Sign them injured, spend money treating them while they are on salary then offload them once they are fully recovered and we dare say. Who are the injured players we are signing next? @Oduor12 any news from our training sessions since the team regrouped on 10th?

I moan for Abondo, a very good player since his youth days at Sony,Harambee Stars, thru Bandari ,Tusker and then Kogalo. What could have been the problem “Mr Teargas”? I would want to see him continue playing actively somewhere.

The case of Zachary Onyango is a bit strange, who signed him and for what? Why waste half season for that kind of player and then dump?

About Natty ni sawa, he didnt convince anybody that he was up to any scratch, just running around the field aimlessly almost in the same manner as one Ballotieno. Let him try elsewhere.

Yusuf is young and talented, perhaps needed patience, good grooming and mentoring and could one day turn out to be a great player. Good luck wherever he will land.

WHERE WRE THE NEW SIGNINGS? NOT EVEN A RUMOUR?

  • I’m happy to see Abondo leave. I’ve always complained about his lack of meaningful contribution to the team yet some here defended him. Yusuf is not as young as many may think. That guy is well over 25. I wish Dube was in the list together with the stagnant k. Omondi.
We need serinus people at Gor and not the kind of kevo who wants to show off na machobo, kanzus and such craps.
    Lets see who comes in

Mcosweto@6…am with you on Abondo and the fact that Dube should have been included on that list.Yes,he may have served us well, but his body language and performance lately suggest he should be looking to playing his soccer elswhere.

As for Kevo, lets just give him a chance to redeem himself. When he is on form and the right frame of mind, there is no better player than him.

As for the new signings….how about we get the deals done ASAP and get those players training with the others. The league resumes next week and we need to integrate them into the Gor system sooner rather than later!!

This Gor bench is clueless.Musa,Lavatsa and David Owino
have all warmed the bench at Gor but are future of Kenya
football. Natty was KPL player of the year last year. The story
Ezekiel Odera who was released last year is fresh. He has scored
more goals this year than all Gor strikers.

Its time they had clear transfer policies.
