Gor Mahia 2 APR 2

Gor Mahia fought valiantly to draw 2-2 with APR of Rwanda. APR dominated the match and had taken a 22nd minute lead through  through Baptiste Mugiraneza.

Gor Mahia came into the game more in the second half. The introduction of Dan Sserunkuma for Eric Ochieng spurred Kogalo as they went forward in search of an equalizer. The equalizer  came in the 60th minute via Geoffrey Kizito. It came from a free-kick which David Owino took and Kizito scored from the rebound.

Gor Mahia were now dominating and threatening the APR goal as  Timothy Otieno blasted wide from close range.

Williamson also blamed his attackers for failing to capitalize on a few chances that came their way. “It’s a game of chances and when we fail to utilize chances we create, our opponents will do that even with the few chances they get to punish us.

“That’s what has been happening and like we’ve seen in our last matches, we failed to make use of many chances we had in first half. Those are matches that we would have won but now we have ourselves to blame. Disappointing indeed.”

As Gor Mahia continued to press forward, they were rewarded with a  second goal when Walusimbi scored via a direct freekick. At this point, Gor Mahia probably should have packed the bus.

In the 85th minute, Dan Sserunkuma scored but was adjudged to have fouled the goalkeeper. It was debatable call from the Tanzanian referee as sserunkuma appeared to have latched onto a loose ball that was not handled properly by the keeper.

A 92nd minute goal by Barnabe Mubumbvi of APR squared matters and eliminated Gor Mahia from the 2014 CECAFA cup.

Coach Bobby Williamson once again lamented lack of concentration in the defence that gifted APR the second goal.

Gor Mahia coach Bobby Williamson admitted once again that lack of concentration at the back had cost the team. “We were cruising to a very important victory but our defenders were costly yet again.” said Williamson to goal.com.

It was a creditable performance against a team that currently leads the Rwandese league, a team that beat Gor Mahia comprehensively in 2009 and eliminated Tusker in 2011, A team that is directly funded by Rwandese president Kagame. But still not enough to salvage the tournament. With three teams already on six points in group B, Gor Mahia are now out of the 2014 CECAFA cup. Their last match against Djibouti Telecom is a formality.

Kizito named MVP

Midfielder “Baba” Kizito who scored the equalizing goal was named man of the match according to futaa.com.  “I really don’t know what to say because that was just close enough but we lost out in the last minutes. That is however the nature of this game and we shall keep on pushing and hoping for better days ahead, he said.

Gor Mahia Line-up

Admin please get serious! Who is Dan Walusimbi? And the 1st goal was scored by kizito from walusimbi’s free kick and not David owino.
Good game but heat break at the last minute which apparently is becoming a norm at Gor Mahia. Always conceding towards the end.

Enough of Ingo where is Jakoyo his brother? If there is anything like bad luck it has found a home in Kogalo during this CECAFA thing. Good show boys don’t compare with the leopard, their position in the TPL tells the difference. Cheer up and move on

I am happy with the result and the team who played yesterday must be maintained as our first choice 11.if were given opportunity to name the man of the match surely it should have gone to Walusimbi the guy gave it all despite being sick you could see by the body language he hadn’t full recovered but decided to play for the team he has at heart.i need to contribute to our kitty can someone tell me the current account balance

Game well played considering complete overhaul of the team. It is by sheer belief we r where we r in the league. Lets keep up the spirit. Ingo mko na tusker kesho tuliza nyenye mingi tunakujua. Gor faithful, that was a journey worth
taking. It opened our eyes on our status n the possibilities. I salute all those who r behind Kogallo n remember league to marwa. This tournament demons must b vanquished next year.

If Black Berry can be given regular playing time he will be back soon,i really enjoyed the game, the boys worked very hard and if we could be playing like that in our first two games we could have qualified, but i think the weather in rwanda also affected our boys in our two first games thank you so much boys for hard work welcome back home.know that we dont have the coach has Rachier shopped for anew one…?or he want to buldoze us with Zico,it could be better if our new coach was in rwanda with the players to build rapoo with them before resuming duties but due to our chairman poor management skills we will wait and see bt currently i hear the branch officials are on his neck and the guy was blocked at nyayo on monday and told not to return zico in gor.our boys come back and i would really like to see that fire burning.

  • Please stop castigating this players, how many of you can go without allowances for 4 months and still put up a descent show in the workplace???

can’t agree more with those saying the team played well, infact it was the best performance for gor mahia it his year!!!! The team is trying to sort out is myriad of problems and for them to go to the pitch and score 2 goals without sserenkuma, I salute them all…..the starting eleven against APR. Should be the starting eleven tasked with retaining the league this year!!!! We shall support them for the remaining 11 matches and wish them well.

Let’s us as fans forget EC come up with initiatives to support the team with the league this year…….it start with financial support!!!

All kogalo fans and admirers who are not necessarily fans must be free to air their opinions without fear of threats and extreme reactions as we have seen above….what a pity.

  • I like this boy shakava, look at what he did in second half he literally went to strike n this constant pressure ensured we secured two goals, if next season we get like four shakavas n timothy otienos then Gor will go far.

I once again request our coach BW, to personally talk to this boy timothy otieno n coach him how to score goals also the coach should again teach all Gor players what to do when approaching opponents goal post so that we dont end up wasting too many chances.

Also jerry jagoal needs to control himself while handling his team mates, he should not be shouting carelessly when opponents have scored but rather show leadership.

That was absolutely marvelous. It is true Lady luck has not been with us in Rwanda. These boys deserve heroes welcome.

Administrator for the short time I have been a blogger in this site I have never come across the “F”- word. Kindly save from this disgrace. Expunge those demeaning comments.

  • Words like …stupid, idiot and F words should never be used on gor mahia ‘s blogging site. It’s Is a shame how we have degenerated into a bunch of indiscplined lot…are these people using these words hooligans or stone throwers and bang smokers have invaded the site !!!!

I urge all of you bloggers to desist from castigating players…they are doing everything possible to make this club the great club that it used to be….I ask how many of you in the workplace can still put up a descent show and still not have been paid salaries/allowances for the last 3 months ?

Finally, the squad that drew 2-2 with APR in my opinion should be starting eleven. The fact that gor mahia scored 2 goals without sserenkuma speaks volume, we fans want to see more of this sserenkuma- less act, this man will leave kogallo soon.

Come back to kenya and we shall cheer you all the way to retaining the premier league both morally and financially, good luck !!!!

@Jack Omollo, you have a formed opinion. Any profesional coach is free to coach Gor after geting contract. If you have problems with any particular coach please don’t put it on the club. Don’t build walls instead of bridges. Jack Omollo if you feel the current chairman doesn’t have skills to lead, then wait his term to end then contest for the seat.

  • Titus odhiambo kamoga

@ochoro what omollo is saying is right our chairman management skills are very poor truth be said and i would like to inform you that am among the branch officials who blocked rachier at nyayo stadium.why force us with zico…?The guy was courageous enough to tell us that zico is the only good coach in kenya and the immediate question to him was,if zico is the only good coach in kenya where is sony in kpl table standings.we refused as the branch officials and incase zico is brought in gor ochoro you will just see,we dont want acoach who will immediately start dividing players ,gor is acommunity club but not a clan/gem football club.Do you know that it is rachier who is putting us in all this financial crisis, chase bank accepted to sponsor gor for six months 12 million shillings and rachier refused that they could not do that just because the chase bank pple wanted accountability and transparency,Daima milk also came and he refused, the same applies to keroche which he was bribed by tusker people not to accept the deal since it will give tusker competition in the market.so when someone is saying that Rachier is apoor manager it is true.we will not shy off from the truth and we will always say them ,i know some of us are in rachier pay roll and are not happy when we talk against him ,we will not keep quiet.otherwise cheers to the boys they really plaid well.
