Gor Mahia 2 Ulinzi 1

Gor Mahia came from behind to beat Ulinzi 2-1 in a thrilling encounter played at the Afraha stadium. Gor Mahia looked sharper from the beginning and came close in the 23rd minute when Rama Salim’s header missed the target with the keeper well beaten.

But it was Ulinzi who got on the scoresheet first when Eric Apul beat David Juma in the Gor Mahia goal to score from a rebound after Stephen Waruru’s attempt was blocked.

The Sserunkuma-Rama combination which worked very well for Gor Mahia in 2012 appears to be getting back on track. In the 38th minute Sserunkuma sent a cross which Rama finished for Gor Mahia’s equalizer.

In the 4oth minute, a corner from Innocent Mutiso was headed towards the target by the towering Haron Shakava. But his header was blocked. David Owino in turn headed the rebound home for Gor Mahia’s second goal.

The second half was marred by a downpour. But Gor Mahia cheered by theĀ  very vocal travelling fans managed to withstand the physical and disruptive play of the soldiers to maintain the lead.

Good performance .It was a great show of character by the players. We attacked, defended and played as a team. It was great to see each player complimenting each others effort .I want to thank the TB for the team selection since it’s a bold statement to the players that performance and form is what matters.Every player will henceforth workhard to win a position in 1st eleven.

  • Thank God. The team played with the determination of champions and when Rama scored they celebrated with lots of joy including the players on the bench.
To me this shows great unity by the team something that was lacking previously. The technical bench does indeed listen to our plea coz ever since we were crying for other playerz to be given an opportunity they have done so and the results are there for all to see.
My plea to the EC is to please harness the power of the fans.

  • With 20 mins into the game, no shot on goal , sserenkuma out of the game , dead midfield, a loss was in the score card.

Nevertheless 2 goals in 10 mins showed the team has character. This is a good sign.

Let’s bench ade, oboya , jerry and the blundering others until they learn their lessons. I see some players being offloaded mid season, that’s for the good of the club. However , I would love to see onyango , the midfielder being given more game time, great potential!

Comming from a goal down to beat a team which looked much stronger in the first 20 min or so is great. That shows the fighting spirit in the team. A big congrat to players.

  • @ Pmawengo, am yet to be convinced by the technical bench and time will tell….lets wait for chemilil, sofapaka and afc leopards to make the final call ….

if gor mahia was my ‘personal club’ , I would fire the technical bench and replace them with a team capable of reading the game and making smart substitutions ! I see this over and over in every match, inability to read the game, I would have expected sserenkuma, rama to have been substituted immediately the heavy rains started…soaky pitch, long balls = packed midfield, long shots. A good technical bench should have brought in players who can hold balls and shoot from long range…the likes of onyango, kiruki e.t.c e.t.c ! onyango came in but it was too too late !!!!!

Congrats are in order. I cannot remember the last time Kogallo beat Ulinzi at Afraha Stadium. The jinx is broken. Generally Afraha has always been a bad hunting ground for us.
Personally I am NOT worried over a thing. Not EC, not TB, not players ma Jojuogi. We win, draw or lose, all I know is that everything is under control. Hofu na mashaka ni kwa wale wapendao kulalamika lalamika.
For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

My brother Jakoyo aka Ben Disi, you are a hard to please man.Your team has fired the entire TB.Now help the to replace it with one that can read the game and make informed substitutions.Rama and Danny do not play for leopards.Afusi need your advice more.Leave Kogalo matters to Kogalo fans.Do you remember the contrasting updates you streamed live from Gabon? You should be the last person to condemn the myopism of Gor TB.There is vacancy at AFC(Always Firing Coaches Football Club). Please apply.

  • Can Jak Oguda and company take desciplinary actions to Ulinzi? Not once or twice did Apul and kokoyo physically manhandled mutiso and serenkuma respectively and the referee did nothing. Surely the match commissioner should come with an action report. Kokoyo is well known for his indescipline and this should not be allowed in a growing football economy.
Back to more serious issues can Rachier guide us on the next move? We want to help the club more so the boys if their is no sponsor. I noticed that we do not have away jersey????
Chris (sg) wske up and take leadership.

@Jakoyo we must learn to appreciate coz what most of us were yearning for i .e Rama,Onyango, Obwoge and Kariuki to be given playing time has all been honored. We have as well seen the fighting spirit from players and those who thought Gor cannot perform have been benched surely why not appreciate.
I must say the team has improved from our last two matches and therefore we as fans we have to support the team unconditionally.
Congrats Gor players for your deserved win.

We need to appreciate that we can dig in for results irrespective of who has been given a chance. While Jerry got a ‘well-deserved’ trip to London for the ‘Twende Kazi’ grand finale Juma was given his first high-profile game and managed to contribute in us beating Ulinzi for the first time in a decade at Afraha.
As we have said before this should go in tandem with the EC organising the fans to ensure that the financial issues do not become a liablity to impede our grand march.

@Baba Travis, remind Jakoyo that these things are easier said than done. If it was that easy then we would hire people like him to help us out. In fact this year we would have eliminated Esperance on the way to lifting the Champions League. By now we would be 2014 TPL champions with 9 matches played. He must be reminded that this league is not a sprint. It is a marathon. He must not be fooled by seeing Tusker ahead. At least our team has started winning away from Nairobi. Winning outside Nairobi is what made us win the trophy last season.

Meanwhile, is it by design that all Gor Mahia home matches are being played mid week? We rarely play our home matches on weekends
