Gor Mahia attack looks sharper

The one aspect of Gor Mahia that has been lagging behind this season is the attack which suffered a severe setback with the departure of Meddie Kagere, Michael Olunga and Ali Abondo. That appears set to change. The players are fighting to impress the new coach and appear sharper and hungrier. Reports among those watching the training suggest that Enock Agwanda has shed a lot of kilograms and looks much fitter. George Odhiambo “Blackberry”looks much sharper. Perhaps it will take the Brazilian tactician to coax the Blackberry out of 2010 back. Then there is Edmond Murai who scored three goals in the friendly matches this past week.

Added to this is the fact that the much awaited debut of Jacque Tuyisenge will likely happen this weekend. Tuyisenge played in all three friendlies and even logged 90 minutes against Langata Gremio and the new coach was impressed. But Tuyisenge is not guaranteed a place in the starting line-up. He will have to battle the other strikers.

“He is a good player, he has the eye for goal and I think he is now fit to fight for a place in the team. We have had two friendlies, I have looked at him and sure, I feel he is ready,” said Ze Maria to dimbasports

Tuyisenge who has been eager to get on the field, is excited at the prospect of playing soon.

“The pain is gone. I am now fully fit and ready to play.  It has been frustrating but I thank the team’s medical staff, the technical bench and the players for the patience and support they have given me. Now it’s for me to go out there and prove myself,” said Tuyisenge to dimbasports

One player who was surprisingly missing from the scoring chart is Jacob Keli. A lot was expected from the former Nkana FC striker. he has yet to hit top form.

Gor Mahia will take on Kakamega Homeboyz at Mumias complex this weekend. The match will be televised live and is a chance for fans to see if Ze Maria’s philosophy has taken hold and whether it is effective.

All the best boys. For Keli don’t give up and continue working hard and you will be rewarded. For strikers that dry patch is always there. The issue is how long it can last but all the same let it not pressurize you

  • Seeing is believing….let’s wait for the game and then make the judgement whether we are sharper or not.

Once again I implore the TB to pursue Paul Mungai Kiongera from Simba,Peter Opiyo who is unattached and had an injury and Paul Were whose deal last June fell through and now resurgent Ingwe wants to snap up since his club in Greece was relegated.I say this because we need atleast 3 Quality local players on national team calibre to complement the returning Kagere and potential foreign striker being pursued in June…

  • The recent Cameroun vs South Africa should be one match the Gor should have in their stock of videos. There are some players who give passes as if the’ve just come from a pub. I hope the Brazilian will put a stop to this. Gor should not be like H.stars who made one hundred passes that got them nowhere.
This match had some very good answers on how players shud do their work.
