Gor Mahia go down to Nzoia Sugar

Gor Mahia made the 2018-2019 Kenya Premier League more interesting when they suffered a surprise loss to Nzoia Sugar on Wednesday at Mumias Sports complex.

The goal that gave Nzoia the victory came in the 34th minute via Hansel Ochieng.

With four matches left, Gor Mahia are still 10 points ahead of Sofapaka who will also play Nzoia Sugar next.

Gor Mahia next play arch rivals AFC Leopards in a mashemeji derby encounter this coming weekend.

  1. There is nothing more to fight for. the Kenya team for AFCON has been named and most of our players now feel “very local’. Nothing to fight for.

I accept the loss with two hands

  2. Today has been the most exhilarating day in our league. The results have left me with a lot of laughter. My ribs have been broken especially by a Tweet from aleckie Ronald “I have a feeling Gor Mahia deliberately lost that match against Nzoia sugar so that they can win the league against Efusii ???”
They also lost I think the match is going to be explosive, The scenario is set.

  3. Ojomondi you are wrong. The team has lost a match after fighting hard for a win no doubt. I do not think these boys have been toiling all season just for Afcon. You are the one who has been asking for some team to beat Gor, now you have changed your thinking! Let’s not make distractive comments since we still have a job to do

  4. I said it some time back,we still have obstacles to surmount.teams won’t just roll over and let Gor steamroll them.

Afc is not a surety..they will come hellbent on making sure we don’t carry the day on Sunday at their expense.

We haven’t won it yet..we must fight hard to make sure we cross the line.

  5. That Gor Mahia falls to Nzoia by a solitary goal in the 34th minute while Efusi falls to KCB by a solitary goal scored in the 37th minute on the same day, is not a coincidence, but a revelation of what is happening in the technical benches of the two sides ahead of Sunday’s derby. These results actually underscore the seriousness with which the two opposing camps are approaching the upcoming derby…..Each camp evidently dropped their guard in today’s match because they have shifted all their focus on Sunday’s derby. Let us brace ourselves for an El Classico.

  6. By the time of the derby we could still be champs. All we need is for Sofa to draw and Bandari to lose one match or draw the next two

  7. @Barefoot Bandit , You have 100% nailed the narrative .
Expect a Leopard who after losing everything and with no chance of winning anything to treat this game as a do or die affair and may we bare this in mind , the Afc we are meeting this weekend is not the same Afc we met last time .
Otherwise congratulations to Nzoia for the fluke and to team kogalo , we await and we expect a reaction .
    Let peace reign .

  8. Yes, keep jitters at bay. That result gives the team an opportunity to react and a successful reaction against AFC gives us the points, the league and bragging rights. What a beauty.. go team Kogallo go

  9. after Sofa, Bandari now keeps the pressure on Sofa, and to some extent Gor. The good thing is that the two have to win all their games, and have still to play each other. I can see the pressure off us and onto the two. The thing is the league wrap-up is just a matter of when

  10. So against KCB , Afc rested 9of their regular players and for the first time in the history of Afc , all the allowances , bonuses and salary arrears have been cleared and above that Salaries for the following month and allowances have been paid in advance , the bonuses for winning the derby has been quadrapled , In a nutshell , all of Afcs anger , hunger , hopes , dreams , frustrations , heartbreaks ,desperations , devastations have all been invested in this coming derby .
But again , we see these shenanigans day in day out coz to all the teams in the league , winning or drawing against Gor is a do or die affair , a zero sum game and I bet Hassan Oktay has received the memo that apart from winning the league , a thorough whipping and tearing of the leopards to scattered pieces is non negotiable and come this Sunday , we expect nothing less .
This derby is gonna be tough , that I guarantee .

    1. kwani baba are the cats being paid to beat gor?our players the other day beat zamalek is the meow ambitious enough to play next season to take thelegue if they are only targeting wuon timbe.my prediction is that we will carry the day.even if each of their player is given kicc we will play continental while meow play only local as usual.which department shuld we twirk kidogo before the begining of next season.we alway discuss this matters here and our scouts jasego included hav done superb but….

  11. To the Players, Technical Bench and the entire fraternity of Gor Mahia our beloved team. I want encourage you to work hard and never lose hope till the last battle field. I wish you good luck in Sundays Big Match and be forecast in that Game but remember to put God first in all your battles and have faith that in God you will make it please trust in our good Lord because without him you are nothing but with him you will be something.
I wish to leave you with these quotes from the Holy Bible those who are Christians Isaiah 41;10 “Fear not, for I am with You;be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right Hand.
Deuteronomy 31;6 “Be strong and courageous Do not fear or be in dread of them; for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Have a good battle and have hopes in God that with him you will get your desire

  12. It is a known fact that every team in our league would do anything possible to beat Gor. In other words Gor Mahia is always the team to beat. It is the team that sets the pace and others follow. Think of this chant “Gor Taya wang’ni meny ji duto” In simple terms what does a lamp do? It drives away darkness so that those that are walking can see clearly. That is exactly what Gor has been doing.
For AFC to have rested all those players unfortunately it proved to be costly for them when they lost to KCB. My analytical thinking tells me that AFC is fighting for two things. Firstly, they are fighting to finish in the top 10. However, it is not looking very comfortable. Slighly above them and bellow them is too close to call. They can still find themselves in position 11 to 12.
Secondly and which I think is crucial, is bragging rights. Of late Gor has been walking on them and they have found it unbearable. This is why if given a choice, they would rather finish lower on the log and win against Gor. So do not be surprised that they rested so many of their players. A sense of pride, gives one confidence and self esteem. It does not matter what they have or don’t have. It is said and I quote “Dhako ochayo chwore makata ringo gi ndege e polo”. when the husband is flying the plane over the house she jeers ” Winjie raurano ogoyona koko ewi ot”
Finally, the ground is set for a big game. Let us turn up in large numbers to support our team so that we can finish strongly and continue to brag.

    1. It seems everybody ranting about AFC Leopards have forgotten that we also rested several regulars and lost too. Our starting 11 against Nzoia did not have Philemon, Shakava, Joash, Wendo, Muguna, Kahata, Samuel, Tuyisenge and Kipkirui. We rested 10 players one more than AFC. Last week we were celebrating the league as already won. Now we look like Ingwe is giving us shivers after the Nzoia debacle. We will still win the league, i think and believe but we need to be humble kidogo sometimes.

  13. No previews..stats…predictions…interviews..prematch analysis…players to watch..nothing!!and I thought these journalists should get inspiration from the foreign correspondents..but zero.what a shame really!!
