Gor Mahia hammer Kakamega Homeboyz 3-1

Putting aside all the off the field unrest, Gor Mahia continued their surge towards the 2018 Kenya Premier League title, beating Kakamega Homeboyz 3-1. The goals came from Innocent Wafula, Francis Mustafa and Kevin Omondi.

Additional reporting from futaa.com
Innocent Wafula and Francis Mustapha scored two quick fire goals for Gor in the opening half before Benjamin Oketch pulled one back for Homeboyz in the second half but hopes of Homeboyz comeback were extinguished by Kevin Omondi with a last gasp goal.

Early chances

Fred Nkata’s charges were off the blocks from the onset and would have grabbed the lead inside the opening three minutes but Wycliffe Opondo’s header flew over the cross bar after Moses Mudavadi whipped in a dangerous cross. George Blackberry Odhiambo required treatment after colliding with the onrushing Gabriel Andika after Odhiambo was played through on goal but was flagged for offside in the 10th minute. Gor had their first real opening of the game in the 15th minute when Burundian Mustapha tested the palms of Andika with a ferocious shot from a Francis Kahata corner.

Homeboyz continued to press on for an opener with Festo Omukoto’s thunderbolt shot narrowly missing the mark after being set up by Eston Esiye. The new partnership between Blackberry and Mustapha almost yielded a goal in the 27th minute when Mustapha teed up Blackberry but the former Azam midfielder’s effort was gathered by Andika.

Two goal lead

Wellington Ochieng’s give and take pass with Innocent Wafula on the right flank resulted to a goal after Wafula drove in to guide his effort to the top right corner handing Dylan Kerr’s charges the lead in the 31st minute. Homeboyz were rocked with the goal and shipped in another after two minutes later with Mustapha banging his maiden KPL goal after Nzigiyimana played him through on goal. Gor went into the break with a two goal cushion.

After the resumption of the second half, Mustapha was withdrawn with Kevin Ade Omondi thrown into the foray. Nkata rolled his first dice in the 55th bringing in George Mandela for Evans Kiwanuka which was preceded by Masakidi Mata’s inclusion for Estone Esiye. Mata was straight into the thick of things, with his header going agonizingly wide off the cross bar from Mudavadi’s cross. Kerr made his second substitution, introducing Samuel Onyango for Nzigiyimana.

Homeboyz goal

New signing Benjamin Oketch from Chemelil Sugar pulled one back for Homeboyz in the 71st minute courtesy of sublime freekick that deflected off the K’Ogallo wall. In front of his home town fans Wellington produced a lung bursting run from his own half playing wall passes with Kahata and Blackberry but his impressive run was halted by Andika.

Ade goal

Substitute Ade put the game to bed ending Homeboyz hopes of snatching a point in the game when got into the score sheet in the 88th minute with a shot that found the roof of the net for a 3-1 lead. The match ended 3-1 in favour of Gor Mahia as they condemned Homeboyz to their fifth straight loss of the season.

Congrats team. While some teams are waiting for us to lose to offer any resistance as GM we match on without looking at the side mirror, because there is nothing in sight.

Latest: Wafula may be sold to Vipers, UG. Not sure if it’s a good thing or what?

Are we willingly selling Wafula to the Ugandans? Why? Is Vipers richer than Gor Mahia are they are transparent and more organized?

True,GMFC games are so tight and congested, playing every 2 days while others play after 5 to 7 days is not an easy task, thus making Kogalo’s opponent prepare thoroughly just to be in the record book to be the second to break out unbeaten run post that of Bandari game. However,as usual gor mahia is still above them in all several areas……1.Total number matches played this season both in domestic tournament and international competition.2)number of goals scored.3)Any one can play in the team making a challenge for opponent to obviously plan how to attack so and so.
These are just but a few.

Let’s continue praying to mighty GMFC to win this league champions without Assap and plan how to retain it in 2019 season for the second time in 7 years.

  • Sofapaka made us proud by losing its game against Vihiga yesterday. Congrats to them. Am so happy now that Thika United is bottom of the table with only 9 games to end the season. To compound my happiness, the team is not being distracted by transfer news at all. Whether it’s Kagere to Simba, Walu to Kaizer, Wafula to Vipers or Olunga to Japan, we are focused on our mission.
Thanks Ker for resting Tuyisenge, Guikan and Philemon among other players, their energy is required in Algeria soon.

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr has urged the Kenyan Premier League Limited to reschedule their matches and give them some space to breath.

“Please, let KPL realize we cannot play this amount of games week in week out. It is really affecting our performance.

“We are carrying Kenyan football for all of Africa to see but the importance of the game v Rayon and USM are paramount and yet we have 5 important games; 3 exceptionally important games in 14 days.

“We need to be serious with this. We lose, it’s the coach’s fault and yet we are doing everything we can to ensure players physical and mental fitness is the best.”

  • Congratulations, the pyschological 60 point barrier has been crossed so officially we are champions elect 2018. let us now switch focus to CAF and raising funds….

on the issue of raising funds, BREAKING…EC finally dangled the much awaited Kshs 10 million to Kaizer chiefs this evening, in the expectation that walusimbi impending sale will clear the clubs oustanding arrears of Kshs 8 million to honour remaining CAF matches.

    More to follow………..

Jasego..am thinking you know seniors at kogallo..why not find a way to approach them for sir kerrs plea to kpl to postpone some fixtures? yawa ..

      Reply
      • Nyarkopolo it’s an administrative issue at KPL organizers led by Jack Oguda working in Collaboration with FKF CEO Robert Muthomi that the league must end in October and names of CAF qualifiers submitted to Cairo that has us suffering such congested fixtures. Regardless we are on it let’s petition them for postponement of 4 matches to next month we hear what they will say

    • How you support corrupt practices. Gor Mahia is on record stating that they were not aware of the Walusimbi move to KC. Now they are ready for 10 mill. How do you make a deal born out of an illegality. So the person who raped the girl now comes with dowry.
This shows that someone in Gor EC knew about the deal all along but when the money promised became little he cried wolf… but now 10 mil will cleanse this sin.
But what about the next Gor player?
Walusimbi should come back to Gor and EC should arraign KC before Fifa.

      • @Dinga , there are normally kingdom gaurds , strategically placed on various social media sites to test the waters on behalf of the EC or to prepare the fans for a decision that has already been made .
If somebody says “outstanding arrears” in order to seal the gap of an imaginary future debt of 8million” , a figure that with transparrency and accountability , the club can raise and surpass in the mashemeji derby and the rayon game , then you realise that their is an impending scandal

In an Employment, if an employee want to leave he will do so at any cost. Again in every contract we exit clause. Mostly interested pay for remaining period. The best EC can do is to make best out it. Equally Walu heart is no longer at GM hence he may not give his best on the pitch. Let have the Money and let him go after CAF matches. If KC can loan him for us for some period, that can also do.

This is a mistake, Gor can get far more. Gor is a giant of African football and KC should not treat us as some village team, where they can just lure our players and then offer us peanuts. They must show us the respect we deserve. This Walusimbi sage cost us the CAF CL match against esperance, it is now threatening our progress to the CAF CC quarters and Semis and possibly finals, the agent must be banned as a lesson to all the other rogue agents destroying players careers.
