Gor Mahia hammer Tusker

Courtesy of michezoafrika.com

Gor Mahia progressed to the finals of the KPL top 8 tournament in style after a thorough beating of reigning KPL champions Tusker on Thursday afternoon at Nyayo Stadium.Rama Salim, Moses Odhiambo and Edwin Lavatsa scored the goals that helped in-form K’Ogalo drown the brewers to a 4-0 aggregate score line.

Coach Logarusic who was reported as missing in action chose the right moment to make a grand entrance to the delight of the many fans who thronged City Stadium. The crowd was in applause and the players on the pitch obliged by mercilessly turning Tusker into whipping boys.

Tusker welcomed back midfielder Crispin Orlando whose role in midfield was expected to cut out the dangerous Rama Salim. However, before the brewers could settle in the match, Rama Salim punched hard with a close range header in the 3rd minute from a hard intelligent delivery resulting from a quickly taken short corner.

As has been the case since the start of the second leg, the combination of Rama Salim and Dan Sserunkuma proved lethal and frequently tormented the Tusker FC defense line.

In the 21st minute, Tusker had one of their decent attempts towards Jerim Onyango in Gor Mahia’s goal but a well drilled set piece  by Joackins Atudo was poorly timed by Ken Wendo who missed target heading wide in the six yard box.

By the break Gor Mahia enjoyed a 1-0 lead and having won the first leg match at Kasarani, had a comfortable 2-0 cushion.

The start of the second half was disastrous for Tusker who found themselves trailing by three goals courtesy of two quick powerful goals by Moses Odhiambo and Edwin Lavatsa. Moses Odhiambo snatched the second for Gor Mahia ten minutes into the second half  beating Samuel Odhiambo who was way off his line with a long range drive.

Four minutes later, substitute Lavatsa dispossessed Shikokoti and rifled a powerful shot that left Samuel Odhiambo flat footed.

Moses Odhiambo had another lovely attempt with a rocket shot from the 18 yard box that should have made it 4-0 deep in injury time.

With the comfortable win, Gor Mahia now qualify for the finals and will meet defending champions Ulinzi  Stars who dismissed Sony sugar in the other semi final match. The winner of the tournament will take home One Million Shillings.

Tusker coach Sammy Omollo blamed his defense and midfield for failing to work smoothly.

“Our defense was slow and our midfield was not creative. Today was not our day.” Tusker FC coach Sammy Omollo said after the match.

If big teams avoided us in friendlies now God is lining them in a file for us one after another and we are delivering big. For a team that is rising from the ashes, it is good that we shall have enough opportnities to play Ulinzi, Sofapaka and even the shy one…and all these is good for rebuilding.

As for the outcome of today’s match I can only see the hand of God, Mahia and the earthly host of the Jo-Ndiwa. When is the last time that we ran over the brewers like that. That hand of God will guide K’Ogalo steadily to dizzy heights of glory.

We all remember the “dark gloomy days” when the team could hardly score a goal…. those days are GONE !!
Coach Logarusic – you are THE MAN !!!
Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) should mess with our saviour. He should be given a free hand to keep reforming the team to greater heights. Those regressive forces in the office who are trying to frustrate him should be forewarned.

  • K’ogalo is in top form now, and those officials interfering with LOGARUSIC should remember that they were in office when Gor was on the verge of relegation and they did nothing. If they are good coaches themselves, why do they hire others(coaches)…K’OGALO GO! GO! GO!

I must say the coach has really done a nice job by molding these players and creating self confidence to every player. These boys are really playing very well as a unit with one mentality – win and win. We thank the Almighty God for all these victories but not the god of Ndhiwa as some people are putting it. Let God arise and all his enemies be scattered in Jesus name Amen.

Thanks to Lavatsa and Moses for those tactical goals, we much appreciate the players for the team spirit too.

Or do you want me to remind you that when leave the coastal island on your way to Nairobi then you will be told very precisely that actually ” WA ENDA BARA”‘. Well done team despite the frustrations.

On Gor’s finances what a depressing development.EC WANTS to kill the team. Chairman & Branches (coz i know the chair wont) pliz sort it out.
I say branches coz they represent the fans.
How can u default on paying the players salaries/allowances, next will be the coaches.
Bwana now the world knows what we are paying our head coach( who does not have a contract). Y didn’t u let the treasurer do that job instead leaking sensitive/detailed information to the public. Since wen have u seen individual’s salaries being reported singlulary in accounts.NOW THE COACH COULD BE OFFERED A BETTER PACKAGE BY SOMEONE ELSE.
As Mwakio says we nid actuals income & expenditure for the year not cheap half baked info.
K’galo chased away 14 non performing players its time some officials went.

  • Bloggers like kosero and Dan have continued to support impunity elsewhere in this site and very soon you will agree with my comments. Whether you like it or not EC must live above the reproach, accountable and retrogressive. Can trut these gigo (garbage in garbage out) posted in the site elsewhere by George Bwana, the SC?

These figure are not true at all as they are fictitious. We have treasurer Mr Ominde who should explain Gor Mahia Incomes and Expenditures statement but as not purported by Bwana. We elected Ominde to be our treasurer and from my own observations these EC members apart from the chairman are all incompetent.

Right now SC and other officials are racing against time to run Gor Mahia coffers dry.

@Walter Alando Bwoga our performance against Tusker yesterday has so much in common with some outcomes in Gor Mahia’s rich history.

May I jog your memory a little. ’84 in Cairo vs Zamalek, ’85 in Khartoum vs Efusi (remember William Obwaka?), ’87 in Tunisia vs Esperence (do you remember Abbas Magongo’s long range strike for our second goal?), ’88 at Kasarani vs a star-studded Efusi that included greats like John Arieno ‘Papa’, Wilberforce Mulamba, Josphat Murila, Patrick Shim and Mickey Weche.
On that day it was all gloom in our camp since our regular players were not available owing to the perennial player welfare-cum-administrative problems. However, the class of Jared Achieng’ Achieng’ and Ignatius Khaduli was born and did not diasappoint because they handed Efusi another of those historical humiliations.

What we are saying here is that the common thing in all these matches (including yesterday’s) is that it is Mahia and not Gor that played.
Yesterday’s win with such a huge margin is beyond human understanding, and is it not called a miracle when it is beyond human understanding? Is Mahia not translated to mean a miracle in my mother tongue?

Great performance by our boys my only regrett was that I couldn’t’ make it to to the vip section, the dreaded rasia side, nor could I even join the vintage ‘fly over branch’.To make matters worse I couldn’t’even join the bar stool pundits at the ‘sofa set branch, due to unavoidable circumstances.Anyway I made up for all those by watching the 7 and 9pm sports bulletin on all channels and luckily enough somebody was kind enough to upload the goals on you tube, and I have watched the previews over and over again.

I think that the sofapaka match will be a gamechanger, and a win for gor will,as jackowili put it, send the ‘leading pack’ into pandemonium and panick mode. This is already being witnessed in some hitherto ‘invincible quarters’,if the treatment meted out to the match officials yesterday is anything to go by.Thika is a banana skin and expect more stones to be thrown on the pitch on sunday and more teargas to be hurled on the stands as the match officials are whisked away through the more ‘friendly’gate two.

The leading pack are peeping through their side mirrors and all they can see,is a green juggernut with full lights and wipers on.Kaa kando ama ubondwe! If we win on monday, regardless of what happens at nyayo on sunday, you will see the stampede and confusion amongst the leading lights.

Meanwhile bwana chairman, take charge and give leadership. Now is not the time for petty squabbles in the team. Our eyes are firmly on the price and we don’t want any distractions.

  • Guys, as fans it’s our duty to make sure that our good run currently doesn’t turn into a bubble and burst. See our shemejis. The best way to do this is not to forget that we still have issues to handle. These are: 1)a coach (saviour) who is uneasy with some EC members. What can make him not disappear to the highest bidder ? 2) an EC composed of know-it-all (some are alleged to be coaches) 3) a financial problem 4) Other issues like some of fans not been considerate to the members of the public. While we are riding high this is the time to streamline these as well. God forbid, but there will be a time we will lose a game (can’t remember when we last lost) and our characters and behaviour will determin how fast we rise. In my post before I said on reviewing the books let’s that initiative and not analyses figures given by the EC. How does one ascertain that the figures published are right or wrong? Even auditors have to scrutinse trnsactions/receipts/vouchers to know that what the finance team is reporting is representative. In other words we have to take the running of GM in our hands by policing the EC in terms of financial, operations and other management issues. Otherwise we will resort to name-calling, shirt-pulling etc at the detriment of the team.

First i say kudos to all the playing and coaching units of Kogalo Gor Mahia for ones again do us proud. This remind me when UTALLI used to beat anyone except Mahia on there way whom humiliated then 6-0 on return leg( Patrick Oyiengo was my man of the match). @Oduor 12 as an accountant by profession i second ur sentiments on the SG income and expenditure a/c item line even the 8.4.4 system of education business accounts was taught in class 8 & form 2, please advice him to collect accounting standards from ICPAK offices KCA University Ruaraka main campus am a member can get him one as soon as i come to Nrb; 2. We need Katiba that defines clear roles and mandate of each EC member; 3. Gor Mahia needs a reputable audit and consultancy firm that will help identify all loop holes in revenue collection and surgest ways of maximising our revenue. The audit should be published every financial year in all leading local dailies and/or read at AGM; 4. As GM feternity we need transformational changes all round not ur group but as individuals but the change are common then we can beat the dreaded world teams at club championships. TO THE BLOG ADMINISTRATOR WITHOUT ANY RESERVATION & FOR THE SECURITY , FUTURE, UNITY AND PROSPERITY OF THE MIGHTY KOGALO GOR MAHIA PLEASE DELETE OR REMOVE THE SG’S PEPORTED STATEMENT ON THE CLUB INCOME & EXPENDITURE ACCOUNTS FROM THE WEB. NEVER EVER PUBLISH ANY ACCOUNTS INFORMATION UNLESS APPROVED BY FULL EC OR GC MEETING OTHERWISE WE WILL EXPOSE OUR DIRTY LINENS LIKE THESE ONE EVEN TO OUR OPPONENTS, RIVALS & ENEMIES. @ Barefoot Bandit I support your sentiments posted above. Surely the way some us celebrate our victories leaves a lot of questions than answers. Like my comrade Walter Alando Bwoga pleading with JESUS to scatter all the enemies in K’Ogalo that do subscribe to christianity faith. Is this really sensical in this time and era of multi- socio-cultural diversity where we have our players and fan base cutting across all religions ,race, tribe and gender.

Walter Alando Abwoga before Christianity invaded Africa through there well crafted pre-colonization mentality our forefathers used to pray to ALMIGHTY GOD through “WERE OBO’NGO NYAKALAGA MA ITENE NE DONGO KAKA OBOKE MA NI EI TIE AORA CHOUTHO”. They had no idea about any alternative faith and believe me or not they were accepted in
heaven due what they practiced as opposed to what you are trying to force in K’Ogalo.

Please try and google GOR wuod OGADA ma wuod OGALO. And you will find the rich history that can be attested to mysterious and awe inspiring experience that people like
Barefoot Bandit refer to as MAHIA MAHONO when TUSKER and PAMZO are left naked.

So as we celebrate goals and victory put in your mind that RAMA SALIM is a MUSLIM by faith and currently in the holly month of HOLLY RAMADHAN and ODHIS is a typical JAH -RASTAFARIAN and may be LOGURASIC might be a Buddist,Orthodox or even JA NDHIWA himself or how do you explain his characters and antics. Food for thought

Sorry for misconception. GM is not a church, neither a religious club, neither a spiritual matter but a strong football club known all over Africa and yonder, therefore let us focus on football…I know we are all happy when we win and the key objective is winning attitude always. Otherwise, as fellow bloggers put it, it will be very easy to offend other groups based on cultural beliefs. @13 OKOTH JABILO, @18 Barefoot Bandit, @24 OGANGO TRAILER I’m happy you are pointing this cultural diversity clearly that needs to be respected. Otherwise, the other ting I’m happy about regular bloggers in this site is that they are keen readers as well. Much appreciation goes to technical bench since most of our suggestions on line-up aired through this site have always been taken into consideration and you can see Lavatsa is nowadays regularly getting a number and whenever he gets he proves a point. The only thing that the EC seems not to be taking seriously despite complains through this site are accountability in terms of finances as Mwakio, Dan, Oganjo Trailor, Pareiyio, arrumtiddi, Barefoot Bandit and many others have always highlighted. Cheers and keep up.

GOT IT BELOW WHAT BWANA PROMISED FOR US TO ELECT HIM AS S.G-JUST REFRESHING HIS MEMORY KWANI THEN HE DIDN’T FOOTBALL IS EXPENSIVE. DON’T PINCH OUR NOSES

MY VISION FOR THE POSITION OF SECRETARY GENERAL OF GOR MAHIA FOOTBALL CLUB.
I, George Bwana do hereby present myself to the football loving fraternity of Gor Mahia Football Club stakeholders to declare that I shall be running for the position of Secretary General come the elections that will be held at the AGM on Sunday 27th November 2011 at City Stadium. I do know that Gor Mahia is a great club in this region’s football history. As such, the fans, players, sponsors and my country have high expectations of the office that runs the administration of this club.
    The office that I seek to fill is even more critical in the management and transformation of our club. To this extent, I fully understand the enormous task ahead of me and I seek this seat on the following grounds;
The mention of the name Gor Mahia evokes memories to any African football fan, whether from Yaunde, Bamako, Cairo or even Siaya. This is because Gor has traditionally been one of Africa’s football powerhouses. The same cannot be said of the club today.
10 REASONS WHY GEORGE BWANA FOR SEC GEN 2011
    1. Assurance of steady revenue
Our club has in the past been over reliant on the well wishers for support. I will help bring this to a stop. My office will work to ensure that the club generates revenue enough to run its operations and. Gor Mahia is itself a brand that can sell nationally and beyond. We will venture into modern ways of generating revenue for the club to make it self-sustaining.
For a long time unscrupulous business people have hugely and undeservedly benefitted from selling of Gor Mahia merchandise without remitting anything to the club. This has been occasioned by tenders being awarded without proper channels and procedures being followed in accordance with the club constitution. When voted into this office, I will embrace a culture of open and competitive bidding for tenders. Tenders will be advertised in the media and other channels as per the tenders and procurement laws. Thorough vetting of bidders will be done and winners awarded the contracts in open and transparent process.
Merchandising is another key venture that we’ll take up by setting up a functional official gift shop that will have all the imaginable Gor Mahia merchandise. These will be sold to the fans at reasonable rates to increase the sale.
    2. Players’ welfare
Players are the most crucial unit of any football club. I will ensure that the playing unit is motivated and adequately compensated commensurate with their abilities, input and skills. I will, together with my team set up a welfare scheme for the playing unit. We all know that in one time or another we are faced by challenges like sickness or even death of a relative. We want to be able to assist our playing unit in such times. We will set up a counseling and career talk seminar frequently for the purposes of empowering our playing unit.
    3. Club stadium
Gor Mahia can build a stadium of its own. This is not bar-talk; it is real and can be achieved with a steady income from the club and proper work plan. We’ll pull resources to put up a training ground for the club which we can also hire out to other teams at a fee. Building a stadium sounds expensive for now but in the long run it will help us cut costs on hiring training and playing grounds that take a big bulk of our revenue. I also intend to use this office to set up a Gor Mahia club house where fans can entertain themselves before or even after matches. Our fans are known for their generous spending. This, I feel should benefit the club.
    4. Digital Marketing
With the social media being in command today, we’ll commission an interactive, effective and authoritative website for the club which will help sell the brand Gor. This will have the up to date information on the club including fixtures, news on players, merchandise, coach or manager’s interviews on various issues as well as an interactive fans’ corner.
My high influence in Kenya’s mainstream Media will spur our efforts to achieve this dream; and I know what I’m saying here, for I have a long and tested experience in this field, having worked for some of the biggest media organizations in this region for a period of about ten years.
Sports are huge investment the world over, with big economies like England, Spain and even France hugely depending on this sector for foreign earning. I intend to use my vast experience in television sports production to uplift the income of our club from sale of television rights, This is supported by the fact that I have worked as a TV crew member at some of the biggest sporting events the world has staged in recent times, such as the 2009 FIFA UNDER 17 WORLD CUP,THE 2010 CONFEDERATIONS CUP as well as attending the 2010 WORLD CUP.
With the help of other experienced friends of Gor, we will adopt some of the modern systems that have seen most successful clubs spring to profitability.
    5. Gor TV.
Today modern clubs have television magazines that profile the activities of the clubs. We’ll venture into this unexploited field to increase our brand visibility and revenue generation. My high influence in Kenya’s mainstream Media will spur our efforts to achieve this dream; and I know what I’m saying here.
    6. Player transfers
In as much as we’d like to keep all our players, should a player seek to leave the club we’ll ensure the transfer is done in a professional manner with Gor and the player greatly benefiting from the move
    7. Fan’s Award.
My office will launch a fan’s award every end of the season where fans will get to vote for their Best player of the season. This will act to motivate players as well as strengthen the bond between fans and the club. The winner will get cash reward
    8. Youth Team
Together with colleagues in office, we’ll put in place youth development plans with academies and scouts that spot, nurture and develop talent. This will enhance constant supply of talent into
the senior team. I intend to bring on board some of former players with understanding of the club history and modern football dynamics.
    9. Public Relations
Our club has in the past hit headlines for all the wrong reasons. The task of rebuilding our image as a club is of paramount importance and can only be achieved by people who are strongly convinced of that need. We need to make our stadia safe and convince people that they are safe for families to come watch the beautiful game in peace. This is only achievable if fans are sensitized on the need to take centre stage in promoting the image of their club. We will launch serious campaigns, aimed at creating this awareness on the need to create and maintain an atmosphere where football is enjoyed by both young and old. Today, we cannot guarantee the safety of children in our stadium.
With safe stadia there will be an increase of fans streaming back to watch their beloved team play. This will reflect on our gate collection.
    10. Club constitution
To achieve full professionalism in the club we need to amend the club’s constitution to streamline it to a professionally run outfit. The constitution will be of key importance in attracting sumptuous sponsorship deals for the club. The full transformation will help us in putting up a functional secretariat headed by Executive Officer. This will enhance accountability to our fans, players, partners, and the country.
Lack of information from the club to the fans and general public has previously led people to come up with rumors, some of which have injured the club .With me, George Bwana as your Secretary General, Gor will adopt an open door policy that will fast track and embrace the change we desire.
    MY SUBMISSION
What I’ve put down here might sound like mere wish that can be trenched away with the burning of this piece of paper, or quickly closing this page. However, these are points that I have conceived from within and strongly believe that they are practically feasible. For us to make this dream a reality, your support will be critical. It is for this reason that I ask for the opportunity to serve the club as its Secretary General for the coming period.
    Yours Truly
    George Bwana

I thought that the coach was given a longer contract, say two years . Because before you hired him you promised the fans that you are looking for a long serving coach and I knew that you were serious. Could you please promise us that Logarusic is their to stay and we focus only on winning trophies.
