Nairobi Provincial league [NPL] side Intercity FC came from behind to record a one all draw against Kenya Premier League
[KPL] side Gor Mahia in a friendly match played on Friday 26 September at Nairobi City Stadium starting
0830 hours.

The match which started on a relatively balanced mode saw Gor Mahia open the scoring before Intercity equalized a couple of minutes into half time.

Opener, Equalizer

K’Ogalo’s Herbert kopany was picked outĀ  in the 20th minute and the striker never hesitated to convert the pass into a classic goal past Intercity keeper for a temporary lead which only lasted for about 15 minutes.

The Okoth side settled back into the game and when the 36th minute of the clock ticked, Benson Iregi got hold of the ball and passed it to unmarked Thanksgod Alosike who in a style unleashed a fierce shot to make it a draw for Intercity.

Second half

All efforts by both teams to look for winner goals never bore any fruit until the full time whistle was blown.

Intercity Head Coach Frank Okoth expressed his satisfaction of the match’s outcome stating that it was a good exercise for his boys.

-We cannot really bank on the match’s result because this was simply meant to gauge our standards. However I am happy because my boys created good chances and never allowed a win from our opponents, the tactician told futaa.com.

Standings

Both teams are currently on top of their leagues with Intercity FC havingĀ  51 points after 22 matches in the Nairobi Provincial League [NPL] as Gor Mahia tops

    Swali ni hizi tuu.
Did intercities come to play for a draw?
    Did they pack their defense?
Did they play negatively against K’galo?
Kuna shida which I hope coach Nutall will address in due course, especially at the Jan transfer period.
We need to get players “who fit the profile” , adopt a relentless pressing game that cracks opponents the way Bayern/Barca do,as Legend Oronge puts it,have a goal scoring system.
Otherwise we are only leading coz maybe TPL Is a lower quality league.!

@Oduor12:given that this match was played in the morning then i take it it was simply a training session… but i do concur that gor is simply leading coz the teams in the race equally offer mediocre challenge.
Tusker which is probably the team that should have been taken seriously only has an east african agenda where it hopes to market it’s beer.
for now gor should start communicating to caf so that they are excused from africa competitions unless they want another esperance debacle. for now gor should first do battle in the east african scene before going out for africa. they’ll end up saving alot.
and yes… the style of play of a relentless attack equally needs players with such mentality. unfortunately the current gor captain has failed to rally the team. my argument is that these players luck mental strength and usually apply the ‘african mentality’ hoping that all will fall in place by miracle.

This is the time for Gor to start preparing for next season, they need to tie up loose ends such as committing down the players as the open window approaches. They need to strengthen the weak points with the players they had identified since they have scouts as I suppose.
And what’s this Inertcity draw? What was the Gor squad made of? Is gor mahia turned itself to a draw machine?
i think Oduor12 is asking some questions here… Answers please!!!!!

kuna shida ndio na shida ni guys who dont appreciate what the boys/coach have done.Does it mean the likes of bayern/barca never lose/draw against teams playing negative futbal, have we not heard top coaches complaining of their opponents tactics. Why is it that if this happens to GM the coach/players are branded clueless, mediocre. We’re league leaders, now its bcoz the standard is down. When will we stop looking at the glass as 1/2 empty.WENGER JST COMPLAINED OF SPURS TACTICS.KUNA SHIDA HAPO???.

gaiz, the level of Kenyan football is very, very low. just look at the concluded cecafa club championship, top scorer had five goals for a four week football. a whole year league has 12 goals. now u can see the difference. Kenyan clubs play too negative football gor mahia fc inclusive.

  • I think Gor did well in CECAFA given that we were in transition folowing the departure of some of our 1st team players. But now everybody will agree with me that Gor have always played attacking football & thats y we conceed bcos of high line that we play. If only our strikers will be lethal then we wud be banging goals. Even in the transfer , we shud only sign a real striker like Danny Ssere & not an amature like timothy otieno who’s learning to score. But other position r just fine.

The main cause of the transition was financial instability which is yet 2 b resolved.
Another major transition might b in the offing come Jan15. I.e “King Dave” & “Flava” gone F.O.C while we still cross our fingers that we get a sponsor instead of mobilizing self sponsorship through a sacco.
EC continues to abet the “so called” corruption at the gate which 2 me is a policy decision so that officials can then pretend 2 b supporting the club by “donating” a small amount the very same siphoned cash.

Yes, we need to get quality players. Do they come for free? We continue rubbishing everything the team is doing yet we expect positive results. I think we should win this year’s league then release whoever wants to go for greener pastures to go better their lives. They deserve it. We can then get untested players from the lower leagues and the youth team. Mathare has done it consistently why can’t wr?

Our immediate objective should be to retain the TPL so let’s not be distracted by our long time mission. We have three months from November tossort those out. I read that chemelil drew with home boys and Sony drew with Shabab aso Ii don’t see the reason to split hairs because a Gor team comprising of U19 players drew with a lowerteam in a practise match. We need to be ffocused on things that add value to the gor brand

Some people were just born whiners. Whats is wrong with drawing with Intercity in a training match? How do you gauge the performance of a team? I thought it is by looking at there position in the league standing. Gor has been up there not by luck but due to hard work by the players, TB and EC. I do not see any other way performance can be judged. I beg to be educated by some perennial noise markers on this blog.

Once upon a time the perennial noisy bloggers were ever on the roof tops shouting about opening the M-Pesa account. When it was finally introduced, they changed tune with the chorus accountability. The same bloggers shout about corruption at the gates during matches, yet they are the very ones who give the 50 bob bribe to gain entry.
All I know is that any MEMBER and I repeat MEMBER of the club is free to access the club records/accounts from the office. Let us first register as members before coming up with unsubstantiated claims that EC is eating clubs money. Where is the money to be eaten from Gor anyway? I hope we do not expect the EC to be publishing there accounts on this blog to please some ungrateful lot on this blog.

Let players play, TB coach, EC steer and fans cheer the team. Let us stick to our roles. Tuwachane na porojo.
Kogallo has been, is and ever shall be. For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

@Kosero, you are spot on and well said. Paybill account was opened and none of these guys are supporting the initiatives but are too busy poisoning other fans and well-wishers minds with nonsense in this site.

We want positive results and accountability but we are not ready to support all the club initiatives. I had said in my past postings that accountability should start with you and me for all the stakeholders to embrace the clarion call for accountability. We should stop free entry by corruptly inducing the gate keepers with as little money as 20 bob.

We will shout loudest but without self discipline, we are going nowhere.

What has the Sofaset Kampala Branch done to support GMFC.
If you’ve have the audacity to label yourself a branch then I hope you are carrying out all the responsibilities and MEETING THE OBLIGATIONS OF A BRANCH.
CALL YOURSELF A BRANCH AS DO AS A BRANCH DOES THAT’S ACCOUNTABILITY STARTING WITH YOU & ME.
FINALLY IF THE PAYBILL ACCOUNT/MEMBERSHIP RESONATED WELL WITH THE GMFC FRATERNITY THEN A FEW BLOGGERS NONSENSE SHOULD HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE WIDER GMFC FRATERNITY.
I once said these schemes cannot fool even 1,000 potential GM members, that’s why membership registration has managed a paltry 300 members.
Like the proverbial ostrich we can bury our heads in the sand and like the SG beat our chest that accountability is only to members only to revert to the public for harambees/mpesa contributions. Kwani si mfanye harambees na those mpesa accounts na your so called “MEMBERS” & BRANCHES MORESO THE SOFASET ONES

This is a reminder, that friendly matches are not supposed to be all about winning. They are arranged so that a team can test formations and tactics to be deployed in upcoming matches. They are also used to up the fitness levels of some players. It is the competitive matches that should be won. Let us stop criticising everything.

How can we reach 1000 members when some of us are day and night trying to discourage the rest. As it is whenever noise is made people will withdraw their goodwill. When fans were focused on assisting Nasio they did it in record time since all were pulling in one direction. It takes only one person to discourage the rest. For Oduor12 and co. what is so hard in picking these issues at the end of the season? As it is we cannot solve them now and the world is not coming to an end. Having said that I hope nobody will discourage us from the weekend harambee

@Dan Original, positive posting. I wish all these negative energies from all pessimistic bloggers can be directed towards helping the club win all the remaining matches. Why can’t we all pull together in one direction? We can’t keeping on speaking the same negative languages day in day out.

@ODUOR12 wacha hasira!!. Times are very very hard. I cannot pretend to be donating to Gor before settling my family obligations. That is a lie some of us live but I will not do that. The only way I support Kogallo is by attending all there matches whenever I am around. I don’t pay 50 bob bribe to gain entry into the matches. Neither do I pay to watch from the “snake park” at City or terraces at Nyayo but VIP. Proudly that’s my contribution. The unwavering support people like Rachier, Kidero et el give to Kogallo deserve credit and not unwarranted condemnation. If you think your money is being stolen then simply stop contributing if at all you do that is, instead of distracting others with unfounded claims of money being misappropriated. How much is it anyway? How do you want EC to account for money that is not yours. Whatever you and I give the club is too little to make fuss about. Please support the team unconditionally by paying at the gate for now. Gor has no sponsor, some of us want to watch matches free , then turn here during weekdays to complain about how the stadium was full and little money realized. You cannot demand for accountability for money you did not contribute. Seat back and enjoy your role as a supporter. Wacha porojo na siasa za 20th Century na ambassador.

@Albert Kosero – Sofaset Branch Kampala , congrats comrade. You have said all and I do not need to add anything. We bloggers have lost direction in this site with endless criticisms. If we can’t appreciate what the EC and players are doing, then I do not not know what we are looking for as bloggers. No matter the shortcomings, we need to appreciate the little. It is not easy to put a team of Gor Mahia magnitude with the little and meager resources to where they are now at the peak of the league.
