Gor Mahia likely to loose Tuzo sponsorship

A source has revealed to Goal that the milk company is not going to renew contract with the Kenyan league champions that expires in March, 2014
Gor Mahia’s quest to defend Kenya Premier League title has received a major blow after a reliable source revealed to Goal that shirt sponsors Tuzo will not renew sponsorship with the club.

The source, who sought anonymity, has revealed that the milk company is likely not going to renew contract with K’Ogalo that expires in March, 2014.

“Gor Mahia will be forced to search for a new sponsor because Tuzo are not keen to renew the same,” said our source adding, “They (Tuzo) are yet to make an official communication to the club but that will be done soon.”

Last July, Gor Mahia signed a renewed contract with Tuzo that saw the club receive Sh29.5 million during the one year period. The deal was to cover for salaries, kits as well as operational costs.

When reached for comment, Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier said he had not been informed about Tuzo’s intended move but promised to issue a statement at an appropriate time.

“If at the end of March they do not renew then we would have something to say. At the moment those are mere rumors which we cannot comment on.”

Tuzo signed a two year deal with Gor Mahia in 2011 worth Sh38million over the same period. It expired in April 2013. The new development could derail Gor Mahia’s ambitions of doing well in Caf Champions League where they are scheduled to face US Bitam of Gabon.

Gor should get better sponsorships with no conditions attached to the deal. In this regard the club officials should target Coca Cola, Daima Milk, Heineken, Keroche, Bharti Airtel, Safaricom etc. if Tuzo is to continue, there is a need to re-negotiate a better package that will give the club better opportunities.

I agree with Tom Ochieng Okello. We will be beggers till when. We form our Cooperative sacco..I think we can afford to save 1, 000 a month. If we have 30, 000 fans it is 30, 000, 000 a month. In a year we have 360, 000, 000 .one moth supports Gor our love. The other 330, 000, 000. We have as our investment. We use for investment for members. Those who want to burrow from it for emergencies, as school fees, other small issues do so. Lets determine our destiny if we really love Gor.Did I hear the chairman Rachier say he would start one at election speach. Lets not sleep. We are all Iin small chamas and saccos. Why not all be in our own Gor Mahia Sacco.

Let’s b realistic. Where will GM get 30,000 members/subscribers with the unaccountability & opaqueness of the previous AR lead administration.
Charity Cup votes were 9K, elections had only 2k register & our matches attract about 5k fans.
AR must change & embrace progressive, modern, transparent management structures 2 unlock the 30k potential.
The bedrock of GM is members & match attendance. Attractive winning football & security at matches r the key. Majority new EC members pliz usher the changes.

Keroche/mastermind will alienate our muslim stars/fans.
Some shirt sponsors may even want us 2 change from our traditional green.
I therefore strongly support the sacco initiative as a seperate entity from the club.
Mercandizing should solely be entrusted 2 the sacco but the sacco should increase its budget allocation 2 the club 2 at least 45m.
Thx Bill now AR & EC the ball is in your court. This idea has been touted 4 the last 3 years. Can you start it NOW.
    Accountability & transparency is KEY

Jakorando, so many nice ideas have been proposed and discussed on this site but none has ever reached implementation stage. The idea of a Sacco is not bad per se but can only help the club in the longrun. As at now we need a short term solution to our financial obligations for the new season. We need a sponsor, and we need one very soon.

I will personally go see AR next week. Let us be positive. No one will help us. We have our destiny in our hands. Sacco is only way out. I look forward to the day Gor will play in Gor Sacco Shirts. Giniwaseloso.

Fellow bloggers let’s know that necessity is the mother of invention. Since we are about to be pushed into a corner we need to think very fast on this issue of sponsorship. The SACCO suggestion should be pursued by all means though it seems to be a future plan.
As of now we should be getting the official position of TUZO as these things require prior notice so that you can start negotiations with another party or even start looking for one.
On today’s match our team looks OK but we need to close the loopholes behind as well as make use of our chances. Sofa basically got like four chances and made use of three. The good thing is that this is a wakeup call before the weekend CAF matches. I still have confidence in the team as well as the TB. I watched our noisy neighbours play and I was disappointed in the display. At that rate Nandwa may not survive for long but we wish them the best in the Confed Cup.
On hooliganism it’s unfortunate that the security at our stadia is always wanting despite the assurances. How do you thoughtlessly fire teargas at what you called a family fan day?

Agreed @ Paw Akuche & if AR is reluctant/slow 2 take up the idea 4 one reason or another than there is no reason why bloggers cannot start it.
The bloggers can form a sacco cum branch & when it succeeds (not if) am sure others will join in. Most successful saccos or ventures are started by a brave few “taking the plunge”.
Did the Tuzo news affect the players, though Jakoyo had sounded alarm over the quality of preps verses the likes of Supa loaf only 2 b vilified & ridiculed by “sycophants”.

Typical of us as Gor fans let the blame games begin. Mara polisi wanatuonea kwa kutupa teargas, mara Jerry ni mauzo, mara why did Mosoti leave? mara Coach si mzuri, mara so and so player is not fit for Gor, mara why didn’t Ingwe fans leave the stadium and instead supported Sofa not forgetting that our fans also supported Mathare etc etc. In all this we forget that we have such a big game next weekend

there”s a blogger who is dismissing the idea of sacco and praising sofapaka.let him critise but do not dismiss our efforts.first let us subscribe a million fans annually at 100 kenya shillings adding up to 100 million kenya shillings. it can be done through mobile money transfer so long as there is transparency and accountability in our club THE MIGHTY GOR MAHIA OF EAST AFRICA.
