Gor Mahia lose to KCB 1-0

Gor Mahia lost their Kenya Premier League match against KCB on Sunday by a score of 1-0. The match was disrupted by a section of fans who were unhappy with the officiating.

Additional reporting from the Nation

Kenya Commercial Bank edged champions Gor Mahia 1-0 in a hot tempered SportPesa Premier League clash at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday.

Kennedy Owino capitalised on Gor’s defensive lapse to open the score on 22nd minute. The Bankers had threatened in the 18th minute through Ezekiel odera whose header from a Bolton Omwenga left footed cross went wide.

The game was temporarily stopped on 89 minutes after a section of angry fans started hurling objects on the field of play in protest of a throw in awarded in KCB favour.

Harun Shakava was forced to head out a teasing Dennis Ng’ang’a free kick from the right flank after Joash Onyango fouled Odera thus opening referee Raymond Omondi’s book with a yellow card.

Philemon Otieno switched flanks to find Francis Kahata whose weighted cross on was headed out by an unmarked Francis Mustafa from close range much to a Gor fans’ chagrin.

Two minutes later KCB went ahead through Owino who left Onyango on the floor before sending in a low shot to the far post with Boniface Oluoch left hapless.

The Bankers toyed with Gor backline forcing coach Hassan Oktay to an early substitution. The Turkish Cypriot pulled out Joachim Oluoch, who had started in the right back position, for Ugandan Erisa Ssekisambu as Philemon Otieno moved back to his accustomed right back position. Mustafa replaced Otieno in central midfield with Ssekisambu joining attack.

Ssekisambu’s speed caused jitters in KCB defence as Gor launched a series of attacks in the final quarter before the break. KCB captain Mike Kibwage cleared off the line Boniface Omondi attempt on 34 minutes after KCB custodian Zamu Adisa had been beaten.

Four minutes after resumption, Jacques Tuyisenge unleashed a right footed shot but Adisa parried out for a fruitless corner. Adisa gathered Kahata’s curled in free kick from the right flank after Dennis Ng’ang’a had brought down Tuyisenge on 63rd minute.

Benson Amianda, who rested Odera on 57 minutes, thought to have doubled the lead on 72 minutes but his ferocious right footed stunner was rightfully called for offside by second assistant referee Oliver Odhiambo. Amianda had been put through on goal by Estone Esiye who had broken on a counter.

With four minutes to the final whistle, KCB coach Frank Ouna introduced Collins Wendo for Esiye as the Bankers resorted to sitting at the back with Gor launching fruitless raids.

If he his wise, Let him leave with immediate effect…..enough is enough ! No doubt, the worst coaching mistake ever made . It should not have happened if some people , so called ‘experts’ listened..

Jakoyo actually we are pondering relieving Zico of assistant coaching role pending ratification in the AGM that am calling soon by mid february. So join in solving GM problems in a prescribed form and manner but Forget Totally that Zico will ever be Head Coach of GM in this Century other than for two weeks when a foreign coach is being sourced for. Even that is soon going if i initiate total TB overhaul where everyone goes from Head Coach…Assistant Coach..Team Manager…GK Trainer…Team Doctor…Physiotherapist and Kit Manager….Later on in the off-season 12 Senior Players past age 28 and 3 foreigners yote nje to be replaced by youthful talents who are driven by ambition and desire to progress in their careers…Cold boot restart is required in this K’Ogalo team

My question is who scouted for Mustapha Francis?? Are there no talents better than him locally?? How did the top management settle on Oktay to coach Gor Mahia??
Is there laxity with the players or a silent go slow??
I’m an ardent fan of Gor Mahia but with the current status I see the worst is just about to come!!
    Gor has a very clueless coach, not sure with his lineup, not sure of the right substitutions to make and even not certain with the best partnering in the foward line!! OKTAY MUST GO FOR GOR TO BE WHERE IT DESERVES!;

let me just ask in a very honest and soberness way to gor lovers, is that coach fits to be in gor mahia at this time and age? 2.out of over 100 coaches who applied for the job,was this the best and did the EC Settled on this useless coach? l regret being a die hard fan this season for for mahia, what was the need of reckless substitution. plz people like jolawi obondo are just busy bodies in gor and should resign immediately.Shakava is very boring and should leave sooner than later.

We bring wazungus to coach us yet we have better coaches here (like zico). We bring foreign players and pay them more yet myself and other local players are better. Like I said, Gor tunapeleka nyasi. We will play in the national super league next year unless somethings changes. That I promise you!

You are very very very wrong to suggest Zico for a coach, we have seen this guy in various teams across the country for over ten years and you are not the one to scout for him.

Take Gor Mahia to wherever Nyasi you think you can but you will eventually leave to your desperate miserable life.

If i were you i would work very hard and smart to get a good team in Europe or at least within Africa to earn a world class pay and a name, but because you have decided to indulge in petty local football failure politics, please be sorry to yourself. Though i strongly urge you to wake up. i heard your colleague Mieno is upto a good salary somewhere as you engage in failure politics! I understand though, we have seen your type and its painful for a young man to reason this way.

You need to change, take my advise…Remember, Majuto ni mjukuu.

Mr Ingo am feeling ok a loss in a football game is a result just like a win or a draw, remember we have won the title five times in the last six seasons. You pull up and win this season wacha panganga. I am beginning to agree that something needs to be done about coaching and quickly

It’s not a matter of suspension. This coach must go he has nothing to offer at Gor. Nigerians were not the team to beat Gor. Again, imagine we lost to KcB……All the matches we have won while he is the coach are just by the Grace of God…..This coach is useless. It’s the first time in history where we have good players and still we are losing. If it’s players go slow, then let the EC do something…We don’t want throw stones again. Kik obi kisumu.

To those who will come here to tell us that Gor must not win everything, that there are three outcomes in a game, that we played well just luck was not on our side: Are you thinking with your heads up your you know where? Are you happy with that display today?

    I got a few questions.
    1. Must Mustapha play every game yet he is totally hopeless?
    2. Why is Oktay experimenting? It seems he still does not know his players after 10 matches plus
    3. Why does Shakava always punt most balls upfield to no one in particular?
    4. Has anybody ever thought of giving either Shakava or Joash an extended rest and ‘experiment’ with Momanyi?

My dear people by each passing day I get more and more distressed by how my dear beloved, mighty Kogalo is becoming a mediocrity. We are staring at another Ze Maria situation and the don’t expect the EC to sack Oktay unless he walks away himself and I won’t blame him he thinks things will get better but after what i have seen this season only a buffoon would agree with him.

Hehe Musymo Osiepa otek small. Odhis Muga be fair in your analysis why are you omitting Joash Onyango the Accident from blame? Central defense pairing of Shakava and Joash is terrible beyond measure. The duo were responsible for Mbao FC dumping us out of Sportpesa Cup and again today Joash falls like raura when he is the last man and offers Kennedy Owino a free goal. Shakava has Never improved one inch since 2013 and is still erratic and poor in decision making as he was then. If you see no team interested in buying your services time immemorial while all your peers left jua iko shida. Aduda i think now you see your blue eyed signing Francis Mustapha the boy with two conflicting names from two major religions. He can’t score No Matter how easy the chance. Today’s game was terrible GM should not play like Shabana the way they did today. It was a nauseating eyesore takataka ghasia display

I personally voted for the following coaches in the order stated below:
    1. Zlatko Kromptic-Former TP Mazembe Coach
    2. Stephano Maccopi-Former Asante Kotoko Coach
    3. Shaun Callum-Former Reading and Sheffield United youth team coach

Their asking fees ranged from 2Million…1.5Million and Finally 1Million in that order.

We were given a working budget of 550k at Most not to go a single cent above and if possible get a coach for between 350-450k. Hassan Oktay jumped on the next plane and came with valid coaching credentials but little experience as had many before him who still went ahead to succeed at GM. He therefore got the job and here we are.

You can’t buy a Mercedes Benz with the budget of a Toyota Axio. One cuts his coat according to his length.

Finally the lack of investing in youthful players and letting all go easy is now haunting us. We lost Amos Nondi…Eric Ouma Marcelo….Oliver Maloba…Derrick Onyango and Cliff Nyakeya to Mathare…Teddy Osok to Wazito…Raphael Asudi had disappeared…Herbert Kopany…Eliud Lokuwam…Bernard Odhiambo to Bandari etc all very promising youthful talents who should have formed the backbone of our future team around this time.

Instead we have aged players who have slowed down and though their hearts are willing their tired bodies cannot withstand the pressure and vagaries of modern high octane football. It is where bandari..mathare and kariobangi sharks now have the undisputed edge over us.

The season might turn out to be bad but it will present an opportunity for radical surgery at the end of the season for clearance of not less than 12 senior players and 3 foreigners to pave way for better young top notch prospects.

Jasego dont mix issues of sijui youth players versus old players…Oktay was a gamble that didn’t pay off. Just accept that and get a new coach. We should not die with a useless coach just because he is cheap. Afadhali we remain with Zico…the amounts those coaches are asking for is enough to take our former players for uefa A certification which in my opinion is the qualifications standing between them and managing Gor

Bloggers GM is fast losing the changing room team unity. Enmity and malice is fast becoming the dressing room culture at GM. Players are questioning preference of others over others all the time. Samuel Onyango cannot and will not understand why Francis Mustapha is preferred ahead of him and neither will Erisa Ssekisambu. They score while he fluffs chances endlessly only to be given more game time. Today the Chairman has called a meeting with TB to find out what’s wrong. Well i will tell him it is easy where team spirit lacks there can be no morale or winning mentality. Kahata absconds training for 2 days then is called last minute on match day to come play while Bernard Ondiek and Samuel Onyango who have been training are left sitting on the bench. Nani atafurahia upuzi kama hiyo. Oktay treat players equally without favor to get the best of all. Ask Mourinho and Thierry Henry recently fired from Monaco in the French Riviera what happens when you loose the dressing room owing to antagonistic relationships with players. I hear you already believe you are being sabotaged. Just stop being unfriendly and harsh to players for no reason

Personally i fear the Zico guy’s presence at GM, he never leaves player disunity trait behind him, i tend to think someone is playing games here.

If Chairman has called a meeting then that’s leadership.

We should also note that Kahata was rumored to have wanted out, the why is he being worshiped?

Yes Kassam yesterday coach did an unfair act that he should not. He called the player after missing two days of training citing personal issues. What of those who had trained hard and were expecting a chance to play. Favoritism of certain players no matter how good they are should not happen as it demoralizes others and discourages healthy competition. Yes a meeting with Chairman..TB and Team Captain is to take place about now
