Gor Mahia looking to bounce back

After losing their opening encounter against KCCA, Gor Mahia will be eager to get their campaign back on track when they take on Atletico of Burundi on Monday .

It will be a tough match. APR were made to fight hard when they opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Atletico of Burundi thanks to a late goal by skipper Ismael Nshutimayagara. And in a surprise result, Telecom of Djibouti beat KCCA of Uganda 2-1. This means there are no pushovers in this tournament and Gor Mahia will need to focus for 90 minutes.

Walusimbi : We will bounce back

Defender Godfrey Walusimbi vowed that Gor Mahia will make a comeback.

“It’s always sad losing an opening game but we’ll come back stronger,” Walusimbi told Kawowo Sports.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game but in my observation, we didn’t deserve to lose but that’s football. You win some, you lose some,” he added.

The Ugandan international further said the result didn’t in any way reflect what happened on the pitch but congratulated KCC FC.

“Congratulations to KCC FC but I think we were the better side for most parts of the game. The result wasn’t fair to us,” he concluded.

Gattuso: We are still in it

Collins Okoth Gattuso has said that the loss to KCCA has not dampened the spirits of the playing unit. Speaking to the club’s portal. Gattuso said they are ready to register wins against Atletico and APR

“We lost our first match but that wasn’t end of the journey. Our hopes are a live and we have equal chances of making it to the next stage. l believe we can get good results in our remaining matches to give us a ticket to quarter finals of the tournament.-We had a good game in the first half against KCCA but lost concentration towards the end thus allowing them to come back in the game. We have to move on quickly and focus on the next match. We are ready and looking forward to achieve the best on Monday,” he said

Whether we proceed or not let the EC get Logarusic back.He has just parted ways wt Simba which means he is a free agent. Pls Mr Chair, don’t tell us u cant pay him. You have managed to pay BW for 4 months after sponsorship ended. Pay Loga the same way

  • APR, TELECOM and KCC are all on 3 points therefore this is a must win for gor mahia. But they must play 4 2 3 1 formation and move away from the predictable football they play……doesn’t this mzungu coach read games!!!!

simplicity you are talking about lugarusic while Rachier is the one who sold the coach to Nyamweya to bring back ZICO,I see those bhang smokin fans beating people in the stadium throughout the season, let us wait and see.

We have to bring Loga back specifically to beat Efusi, sine he left we have never beaten Efusi.Loga also knew how to read the game, his subs were worth and bore fruits,he also had the touch line command, his defensive approach was also very good, remember were are the team which conceeded less goals in 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 season.

Loga has been released by Simba and that should make our efforts to bring him here much easier. But the issue is whether we can afford even a fraction of what Simba was offering him? Or he works pro bono till the end of the year

Dont think that is an issue, what matters is his willingness to come back, rest can be sorted out baadaye. We have to officially launch OPERATION LOGA BACK.
By the way,we can only win this league with Loga.Tusker are very much on our neck and any slip up will see the league go.We need a coach who will take us 7 wins.As you know,Loga somehow knew how to charge fans, who inturn charged players on the pitch. His touch line theatrics somehow used to work.Apart small small isues with women which is normal with all men and which i considered personal.PLEASE COME LOGA COME.

Also feel Gor Mahia is bigger than the local coaches.Rachier if your office can be transparent then ,paying players and the coach will be a thing of the past.Zico is good but the competition is so tight that requires a coach with a vision and mission and Loga is the perfect match for this description.

If Rachier wants peace with fans then let him do the right thing, otherwise the entire office will be locked out just like AFC did.

Now that players like owino Have hinted moving out are there plans to replace them?it better starts now.

Poor Defending all the time is not good Bobby,Why cant we learn to defend our Goals?Loga used to do that.

Calabas contract needs to be reviewed so that he doesnt go on a free transfer like we have seen of late.Let the EC sit down with him and explain to him the economic side of football just like Efusi did with Wanga. Now that Gor is a good hunting ground for other clubs in Africa,we can take advantage of this and generate some good income from player sales the way Arsene wenger does with Arsenal.

@Ombeng, having a valid contract with our players will really help us to benefit from them. That’s a brilliant idea. Even Danny’s contract expires end of this year.
On getting Loga to Gor the only clarion call that can help us is the one for 350100 and membership recruitment

Dan, both the 350100 and membership recruitment have not yielded much.Serious marketing and awareness is required for both to succeed. Is the EC still searching for a sponsor or the have given up?

Guys, just imagine Loga with unpaid dues to both coach and players. What we need is a level headed coach who will undestand our situation and motivate the players to perform.

  • Out of the seven bloggers above, only two are within the discussion topic. No one chased Lugarusic out of the club. He was the best paid coach in Kenya. Now, on the discussion, I salute Gatuso and Waluwalu on the positive attitude towards the next match later today. I wish Kogalo all the best.

  • Williamson remains the best coach still. He is good at handling player issues, mature and understands the fans.

all u guys advocating for loga’s return, may i remind u that when he left the club was not playing well,& a win was hard to come by.it seemed like guys had learned his tactics.i think he was too smart to leave b4 the fans had started complaining.Mark U he’s relieved frm simba bcoz of poor performance.Y wuld GM hire a coach jst to beat afc,,are we really that FOCUS LESS.Do we really nid the kiongera’s,Abondos the players he blivd in back.If BW goes GM shuld a NEW & DIFFERENT COACH IS THE WAY 2GO.

If you remember clearly at the time of leaving Logarusic was at odds with the office due to contractual issues. There was also the embarrassing issue of allegedly “snatching players’ girlfriends”.
I honestly believe that the drop in our level of play at the time of his exit could have been attributed to these factors.
We lost Mosoti & Mapunda due to failure to offer them contract extensions in time.
“King” David apparently does not want a contract extension so GM should cash in now since at the expiry of his contract his will be a free agent (& we will get 30K). But comrades lets look at his valueless contribution to the club.
I always maintained what made Logarusic stand out was his demand from players & EC that GM is a big club and hence performance/committment from players/EC had to be of a higher level.
Financial constraints were created by the EC (led by AR) and should not be used as an excuse for GM to lag behind.
That said all the best in CECAFA.
