Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have signed Zambian exciting winger Julius Situmbeko on a two year deal.

The 20 year old has been in K’Ogalo’s radar for some time now and is currently in the country with the Zambian squad in the Gotv Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Situmbeko currently plays for Power Dynamos in the Faz super league and has been touted as a great talent.

“It’s true I have signed a two year deal and I am supposed to report back in Nairobi on December 27. I have heard of Gor Mahia and I believe I can make difference in the team by working hard with the rest of the players,” Situmbeko also known as Julio told supersport.com.

Situmbeko’s lucrative deal will see him as one of the top earners in Kenya .

What does KPL rule say about the number of foreign players? Is 5 max and if it is that then already we have Danny, Anguyo, Emuge and now Julius that leaves us with 1 option assuming Danny stays. But if he leaves, in my opinion Anguyo shld be released too he was hadly used and why keep an expensive foreigner you cant use. That means we remain with 3 options for a defender, another midfielder and striker. Did anyone notice that all of a sudden Akumu is playing so well giving good passes compared to what he does at Gor. Players need to understand playing soccer needs dedication and passion Keli, Calabar and Kahata are good examples. Please can the office ensure we have Kahata, Kingatua, Keli in our team. These are the kind of intelligent players Gor always had and must have at all cost. Indeed i agree with one of the bloggers somewhere that Nzomo would add punch to our defence but that again depends on whether he has the stomach for bigger challenges that Gor would give and wether he can be the leader in the pack.

It is not that Akumu is playing well all over sudden. Akumu is the best midfielder Gor Mahia has had in a long tym.To me he is better than Njuguna and Cantona combined. He may have lost form but class is permanent. His loss of form can also be down to Williamson’s decision making tht sometimes are misplaced. Two examples come to mind:1 Shunning Sserenkuma for Cranes national duty yet everyone knows of his calibre.2. Constantly preferring Njuguna ahead of Akumu yet we could all see how Gor struggled in the middle of the pack with Njuguna moreso after he wore down. Could nt defend could nt create thus burdening Cantona wt Buboth duties n exposing our back four. But I respect the coach ‘s choices as much as I may disagree wt them. And this is just a personal opinion so those attack dogs who like taking this blog as their domain and rubbishing other people’s pieces to just keep off n post their own

I hope the guy is good as most zambians. As for those talking about Nzomo, i think he is a defensive midfielder and not a defender

    GOR ELECTIONS
Again lets avoid lavish promises and work on the basics of IMPROVING MEMBERSHIP & HOME MATCHES ATTENDANCE THRU GOALS, TITLES, ENTERTAINING SOCCER & SECURITY.
    I humbly propose again
    GMMM(GOR MAHIA’S MEMBERS MANIFESTO)=GMM(GOR MAHIA MPYA)
    FANS MUST SET THE AGENDA.
Say no 2 hooliganism, bloated EC & chaotic 100bob election driven membership.
    MEMBERS’ OBLIGATIONS

1.Monthly contribution of 600/year(only 50/month) payable in advance, maintained in a permanent electronic register, which WILL FORM the basis 4 shares in a future coop/company. With 2k members GM will b guaranteed kshs.1.2M/year but with 20k members this bcoms 12M. Easy coz Bwana claims FB branch has more than 5K active members.

2.Fix tickets 4 homes games 2b terraces 150 & VIP 450. GM has 2 target an average of 15K fans per home game not current 3/4k paying fans. Charging 300 so that EC can facilitate corrupt entry @ 100/50bob makes sense only to the “executive community”
With goals, entertaining soccer the GM carpet style & security attendance of 15k/home game cn b attained. For AFC & latter stage CAF games cn b @ 200/500 for terrace/VIP. GM cn raise above ksh.40M from these measures.
    3. Recall of non-performing members, but stringent threshold as 2 the time & conditions of recall must be set.
**Initial individual membership 4 GM should NEVER B DISCRIMINATORY COZ REMEMBER TERRACE GATE COLLECTIONS R THE BIGGEST REVENUE SOURCE 4 GM.
    4. Appointment of external auditor. This MUST NEVER b left 2 the EC. Pass a resolution that audited GM financials must b published in a national newspaper.

THESE PRACTICAL STEPS WILL GENERATE KSH. 12+40=52M,add Tuzo sponsorship of 29M AND YOU’VE A GAURANTEED KSH.81M enough 4 top players, medical insurance & cneven start on the stadium. I’ve not mentioned donations & merchandizing which EC has mismanaged.
But 2 achieve this FANS MUST agitate 2 restructure EC into a lean board with specific measurable roles against which elected officials’ policies can b gauged i.e
    1. Director Chairman-Sponsorship & Security. These r the immediate priorities for any serious candidate who must put foward concrete policies on sponsorship & security. Note Tuzo deal is only 4 one year. GAURANTEED SECURITY MEANS BETTER ATTENDANCE HENCE HIGHER GATE COLLECTIONS, which together with solid membership means club has a basis to seeking financing for even the stadium, after meeting the basics.
    …..
2.Technical & TEAM Welfare Director-Benchmarks cn b policies on medical insurance, coaches accomodation & transport, stability of team etc
3.Membership,Attendance,Public Relations & Transparency Director- 4 a start recruit @ least 2k members/year @600 payable in advance. Aim 4 attendance of at least 15K/home game to ensure that these 2 crucial sources of revenue r maximized. Again though donations r most appreciated the 2 mentioned sources of revenue + merchandizing r the bedrock of any big club.
In GM membership & merchandizing r poorly managed.

4.Marketing, Merchandizing Director-Ensure only genuine GM products r in the market, fakes r eradicated. Merchandize shld b ideally b retailed only by members individuals & cooperate. This is a way of encouraging uptake of membership.
    5. FIN & ADMIN DIRECTOR-Must publish audited accounts strictly 3 months after year end etc.
**LET’S DO AWAY WITH VAGUE UNMEASURABLE POSITIONS OF CHAIRMAN, 3 V.Cs & 5 Secretaries.
The elected directors should then competively hire a lean secretariat, on performance contract, 2 implement board’s policies & daily operations. Key officers shld b CEO, FIn & Admin & Technical Mgr cum Head coach (2 avoid conflicts). Due 2 limited resources Individuals should be able to multitask 2 avoid bloated secretariat.
Elected directors must pledge adequate time/ability to generate proper policies. No. of board meetings per year & compulsory attendance must approved by members.
**MEMBERS ITS U 2 SET THE AGENDA & BASIC MANIFESTOS BUT AVOID LAVISH MANIFESTOS & UNKNOWNS.
**REMEMBER SUCCESSFUL ELECTIONS HENCE EC IS A PROCESS FAILDED (CHAOTIC) ELECTIONS HENCE BLOATED EC IS AN EVENT.
As i urge qualified legends i.e Obwaka,Lule,Sianga & Makamu & also able bloggers to vie.
Let’s start the process we cn use our smses, internet etc.

TRUE GOR FANS / MEMBERS ITS TIME TO TAKE CHARGE LET’S NOT LOSE THIS GOR MOMEMENT WHEN EVERYBODY SEEMS ATTRACTED BY THE FAMOUS CLUB.

P.S REMEMBER WE CAN SIMPLY AND EFFECTIVELY ROOT OUT HOOLIGANISM BY BILLBOARDING THE IDIOTS/ “HUMAN WASTE”.
CURRENTLY MIGHTY K’GALO PLAYERS ARE REPRESENTING 3 CECAFA COUNTRIES WHAT A CLUB,
FANS ,MEMBERS LETS BUILD ON THIS.
MAINTAINING SUCH TALENT IS COSTLY GM NEEDS TO GENERATE FUNDS IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE ARRACTING 1. A LARGE NO. OF FANS 2 THEIR HOME MATCHES 2. MEMBERSHIP 3. AND CONSEQUENTLY SPONSORSHIP.
VOTE WISELY. REJECT LAVISH PROMISES, LET CURRENT EC ACCOUNT 4 THEIR LAST PRE-ELECTION PLEDGES

  • I hope that this signing is conducted by the head coach who is mandated to recruit players he wants to use in caf & next season . I saw the player is in question play against Burundi & I think he is a good player.I am waiting to see a lethal striker & a player who is able to give killer pass like Ozil.

  • I think kahata really deserves to be at kogalo but as for keli ,in my opinoin, bado …we should find a more seasoned striker ready for africa.why i think kahata is ready, remember calabar against the nigerians….i think kahata is ready for the big stage go for him he is worth it.

Elsewhere Julius Situmbeko has denied having signed for Kogalo. Whats going on here? I saw the guy play for Zambia yesterday, he is good and can add punch upfront as I saw he plays mostly in the wings.

  • cheap sites. how is it that someone interviewed Situmbeko and he answered that he had signed for gor. this sites proves to be a copy and paste site. this really proves such a site to be a rumour mill more than anything else. why is the press so much possessed with gor signings that someone can actually sit under a tree and write an article and interview ‘a ghost’. so much for press freedom. if this is what press freedom is then i hope the new law is passed to stop such manace.

  • Why sign Situmbeko? I hav been watching this young man play in cecafa and sincerely speaking, we do not need him. In our Kenyan nationwide league we have better strikers. Also, Edwin Lavatsa and Mungai Kiongera are physically stronger, faster, taller and technical than Situmbeko. Let us not sign for the sake of signing. Let us sign quality. It is better for Gor Mahia to put that money in the bank for it to gain interest
