After three successive wins, including a 3-0 win over arch rivals AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia will bring their high flying act back to Nyayo stadium as they take on Thika United. Though confidence is running high in the Kogalo camp, coach Ze Maria will not let the team become overconfident.

“Yes, confidence is good on my players, they have self belief which is important at this stage. We have quality in the team and being on top of the table is good, however, we are not getting over confident because it might work against us in the long run. The best thing to do right now is take one match at a time and ensure we get good result.” he said to goal.com

With the match being played at Nyayo stadium, whose playing surface has improved, Kogalo are certain to put their best foot forward. And the players will be rested after going a week without playing.

“Now we have a week before our next match and I think this will be enough time for us to recharge as we work towards another victory.” said Ze Maria.

Last season, Gor Mahia recoded excellent results against Thika United, by winning the first and second legs 2-1. This season, Thika under former Harambee stars ace , Nicholas Muyoti, are struggling and staring at relegation. They are currently at the bottom of the league table.

Ukitaka kumwua nyani hapana angalia uso wake.No overconfidence and treat Thika like burukenge or ogwang, remember the high price of Brookside milk.Revenge the high milk price on these milkmen.

How improved is the nyayo surface; Kikuyu grass?

  • Dan Original says:

From experience we don’t do well against teams in the lower tier of the log. We need to improve on that. To win the League you don’t necessarily beat your closest opponent but you need to beat all other ‘lower’ teams comprehensively

  • musymo says:

Our two losses this season have come against the ‘basement’ teams’ We must avoid complacency and be our sharpest. Good news to hear that Timo is actually in the Chan squad for the Angola bringing to six the number of Gor players in the national team. Hard work surely has its rewards!!!!

  • Jakoyo says:

I trust the bonuses shall be paid this afternoon as promised.

I will be okay with a draw as beating low rank opponents seems to be the psychological problem this season.

    • Jamriambo. says:

What do you mean? This idea of players demanding bonuses is not over in Kogallo? What happened to the Gor mahia lotto ? Weche Gor Chal mana gi weche UNGA. Tell this guy Mackienglo or what ever his name is to tell AR to pay by yesterday

My fellow kogalo fans, It has taken me time to think deep about this issue, Gormahia was formed in 1968,We had great players like Late ouma chege. Jerry imbo etc, then we had Kina Alan Thigo woun pap, olouch lule, owino kepes to name but a few. We then had Players like Mike otieno, Toby ocholla, Austin odour, Late Abbas magongo etc. This made Gormahia and the history we know. What surprises me is the club officials do not recognise this people. Why can’t the club even give them free passage to watch kogalo matches,2. can’t they be offered free medical scheme for their families. kagalo officials look into the welfare of the once great.

  • Jakoyo says:

@dan kisumu, the idea is very noble but it has to start from somewhere…..my thoughts have always been we start by retiring some of the famous jersey numbers that were won in yesteryears but the greats and then gradually build up.

    • Dan kisumu says:

Maadam Nyangi, Can’t your good office go into history as one that offered our former players free passage to our matches?

  • Wuod Suba says:

@ Dan Kisumu….. the idea is bright…Let’s even remember Tim Ayieko,Mike Ogola Michine , Otieno Solo, Arudhi Ogwanjo, Festus Nyakota,Abdala Shebe, Charles Ayuka,Dan Odhiambo and not to forget Ben Oloo and William Obwaka…..

Caution must be taken going into this fixture. Teams languishing at the bottom of the table usually put scintillating fight against the several times champions as the only fixture that if they pull a draw or win proves their worth nonetheless. Pressure being piled on gor mahia at the top by tusker, ulinzi and rangers is massive and is the only reason we need gor to win every fixture. Nevertheless, I know the boys are psyched up and will not underrate thika ahead of the fixture. Boys are ready and will pick from where they left. 28 points is the new table design tomorrow by 4.50pm.

fellow comrades let’s not forget that the former players played a greater role in making kogalo known worldwide, I still insist let’s not forget them. The good office of Lawyer Rachier should at least make them feel part of kogalo. I witnessed one former player being harassed in the stadium by our stewards ,it was sad. Plse my able friend At Ja sego can’t they free passage be given to our former players, preferable main stand or VIP areas.?

    • Jasego says:

It is an ideal overdue proposal Mr Dan we will look into it rest assured the right ears concerned will be appraised on this matter…

  • We have some unfinished business against these milkmen. I still remember our last game of 2012. We need to record the maximum win against these milkmen.

  • Wuod Suba says:

By today , all the former players should be given free passage. ..

    Stewards please excuse us….

  • Machienglo says:

The back pass expert (John Batiso) is starting against thika!!!Gor will be beaten.

  • Barefoot Bandit says:

Thika leading 1-0. Those changes in the midfield were a pointer that things are not OK and that we were going to struggle in this match. Why change a winning outfit? No Miguna, no Innocent Wafula, no Walusimbi and we expect whoever to shield the defence and create attacks?

  • Wuod Suba says:

@ Machienglo…..I said it and I was told to be silent since iam the coach…and the story ended by laughable and laughable. ………where are Mr.I know it all now?
