Gor Mahia take on Tusker amid injuries

Gor Mahia will take on Tusker on Wedensday in a decisive KPL Top 8 semi final. Tusker won the first leg 1-0 The aggregate winner of the two legs will go to the final to take on Thika United who beat Chemelil Sugar to advance to the final.

Strikers Dan Sserunkuma and Rama Salim are both facing late  fitness tests according to the Daily Nation. However Logarusic might be wise to leave the duo out altogether and let them focus on league matches. In their absence, Gor Mahia can play Abbey Natty Kunrumi and improvise with another striker. Kevin Omondi is out with malaria. Also out is David Owino, Israel Emuge and Anthony Akumu who of late has been out of form. Perhaps some rest will do him good. Seldom used players like Yusuf Juma and David Otieno should be given a chance to prove their worth.

We will pay to win, but I am predicting a very tough match,” Logarusic told the Nation. Tusker have struggled of late having lost two matches on the trot and their are rumours of a player revolt because of coach Robert Matano’s high handedness. Gor Mahia will be looking to defend the cup they won least seaosn while Tusker are looking for their first ever Top 8 win.

  • These injuries are becoming too many. What could be the problem. I envy those teams which always have a full squad. If these issues continue they will jeopardise our performance

  • O.G.A.T nowadays to me means inconsistency, unrealiability and the coach playing it safe only to gloat after a tasteless/ narrow victory.

As per Tusker’s current form we should win but these days I pray and hope that K’galo wins. Also much as I luv to see K’galo win each and every match,to me this competition is a drain on K’galo resources.
I suggest it be replaced with a single phase knockout competition invovling 47 county combined teams, the top 6 TPL teams and top 2 nationawide teams. The prize tag should be at least 3m. Imagine Garissa/ Mombasa/ Kiambu County combined vs K’galo / AFC at their home counties. Is that not a crowd puller. The prize tag means some counties with talent might give the top clubs a run for the title.

  • Tight security planned ahead of weekend derby
Updated on 08/05/13 | By DENNIS MACHIO-Michezo Afrika

Football Kenya Federation, the Kenyan Premier League in conjunction with AFC Leopards have revealed an elaborate security plan ahead of this weekend’s anticipated derby pitting hot rivals AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.

The match that will be played at the Nyayo stadium on Sunday will be the first derby this season. The match has been known to be accompanied with high octane activities both on and off the pitch and officials will not take anything for granted.

In a statement released on Wednesday after a security meeting FKF announced that, “Security will be heightened during Sunday’s derby between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia set for Nyayo Stadium.”

“Over three hundred police officers, and 130 stewards supplemented by the police dog unit as well as mounted police officers will keep vigil.”

According to the officials, 24,000 tickets will be sold for the match, 2,500 VIP and the rest for the terraces costing Ksh 600/ and 400 /respectively.

Selling points are Shell Kipande House, City Stadium, Shell near Nyayo ,Kenya Cinema.

The clubs official ticketing agent Riverbank will sell e tickets also at a venue near the stadium on Match day.
    My Comment
Fellow bloggers digest the above. Despite all the talk police and stewards still could not contain the fracas, infact they are nowhere to be seen during matches.
Currently ticketing and security are the most lucrative ways for officials to fleece the big two clubs. That’s why a SIMPLE solution like arrest and prosecution has not happened (WITH BOTH CLUBS) in 2 years and I don’t see it happening.
