K’Ogalo secretary George Bwana reveals to Goal that they are surprised the Ugandan striker sneaked out to Europe for trials without club’s notion

Gor Mahia have announced they will take disciplinary action against Ugandan striker Dan Sserunkuma for absconding duty.

The club’s Secretary General George Bwana told Goal on Tuesday that they are surprised by media reports indicating that the player is currently in Europe for trials.

“We heard of his move to Europe from his agent who called our chairman (Ambrose Rachier) but this is unacceptable since we have not given him permission to move.

“He still has one and half years to go on his contract and he cannot just walk out of the club like that,” said Bwana.

Bwana added:”We will certainly take disciplinary action against him when he returns. We don’t care and are not interested which side of Europe he sneaked out to but I want to assure that no deal will be completed until he (Sserunkuma) gets clearance from Gor Mahia.”

Bwana further said the club has no intention of releasing the Ugandan forward considering that they are chasing the league title.

“With reports that Rama Salim could move, there is no way we will release Sserunkuma as well. This are our key players and it is the wrong time to let them go considering we are chasing the league title.”

It also emerged on Tuesday that Rama Salim has received offer to join Qatar-based Division Two side – Al Markhiya FC – but Bwana insists the club is yet to officially write to Gor Mahia on the same.

Gentlemen the impending exit of our twin strikers is a bit puzzling with scant clarity of accurate information. The vice chair Mr. Faiz Ochieng talked to futaa.com yesterday and trashed the issue as non existent under the heading, TREAT SSERENKUMA REPORT AS RUMOURS

He insisted that the player was in Nairobi by yesterday
What hurted me most from Faizs report and I quote “We are told he is feeling unwell but I cannot confirm at the moment because he was unreachable in the morning” my question is how and when did Faiz get the message about his health situation? As health condition of a player is the top most welfare concern of a club, what immediate steps did he engage to make sure that the player regained good health enough to enable him resume his duties?

Now that the Mr. Bwana has confirmed that the player is in Europe without due permision from Gormahia fc, suggests that there is a feeling of disharmony. With this uncertainity arising from statement from two different officials i wish to ask the chairman to address this matter because I’m left chasing for the trueth. I think it is now time the EC ask Faiz to stop too much talking on behalf of the club. Mean while I wish the club good luck in to day’s match.

  • Run the club professionally get a CEO to run the club and comment on issues the political appointees must remain politicians they don’t add much value bwana this faiz guy should concentrate on the issues of policy and employ pros for the purposes of day to day running of the club.
it sounds childish to talk emotionally about a disciplinary issue that could be blown out of proportion remember serunkuma thought the current coach who is an excellent coach ignored him when he was the national coach of Uganda Cranes and therefore such should be borne in mind as the disciplinary issues are being sorted and my opinion is that Danny is a very good player an excellent one but Kogalo is winning without him but please don’t overlook his contribution as you deal with issues.
Why i distaste this elected guys running the club is because they have some feeling of entitlement which blurs their judgement when handling issues and the biggest problem is that Rachier cannot restrain them and that is why i think the solution is the professionals,a finance guy, a CEO you know these are people you can control, fire procedurally if they err but for the politicians imagine we have to wait until the elections too bad.

  • As Kogalo family, we must accept that we are likely to loose nearly half of our team in a span of about 1 year. Rama and Sserunkuma are just the beginning. Ja Shirati, Kiongera and Emuge will soon be on demand by clubs willing to pay better. Not forgetting our coach who is also likely to jump ship.

As a club, we should be smiling all the way to the bank and not getting into a panic over these important deals. This according to me should be goal number 1 as we try to own players of the caliber of Wanyama in the near future.

For me, winning the league comes second to making money and i wish the players all the best. The club will only get 3M after so many months of toiling and yet we can make many millions if we sell a ‘gem’.

Finally, the club must tie down some of the impressive under 19’s to long-term contracts so that we get them cheap and sell them higher. When Williamson came, the Chair said he was interested in setting up youth structures for Kogalo but i’m yet to hear him comment on the same.

All the best against Tusker. See you at Kasarani.

  • while i do not necessarily support the moving of the player, his kind of action kindly exposes the kind of management at gor. surely with the jua kali style of management at gor they can still wonder why even the players show little respect. let serrenkuma look for greener pastures in peace. if you guys were so worried about his future, he would have known and would not have acted this way. the funny part is that a player is ‘sick’ and the team doctor has no report. on the other hand if the players sneaked (as reported by Bwana) without the clubs blessings then EC take tough displinary action. but now who to believe betwn Faiz and Bwana as they seem to be officials of two different clubs.

@3 the villager, we can’t make money without winning. Gor is a club with set goals to fullfil. I support Serrunkuma’s move to Europe but if he left for trials without permission from the club then that becomes indiscipline.

@7..Ochoro…i agree with you. When you enter a competition you enter to win then the money comes second. How will you get the money if you dont win?

As for the Sserunkuma story, the EC must take charge of the players affairs as long as they are under contract with the club.

The best to the team against Tusker.Make us proud!!!!

  • I see double standards here. Why allow Rama to go n say u have no intention to release Danny. If anything the coach prefers Rama to Danny so it wd mek more sense to let Danny go n retain Rama.Or is it tht he is being punished for something we don’t knw with being benched n nw ths issue of disciplinary action
U may do tht, he runs down his contract n joins a rival.I knw Bwana will say they dont care jst as he said yesterday on MichezoAfrika abt Pinched yet we knw it will take years 4 Erick Ochieng to gt to Pinchez calibre.Tread very carefully on this Mr George Bwana

  • Recently, someone by the name of “Gor Player” posted on this blog how Gor is run Jua Kali style and many here criticised that player for leaking the info
and also doubted him. Mnaona sasa? This os the begining of Mass exodus from the club

There is no need to panic.

Solution – ensure there is good relationship and harmony between the office and the technical bench and this should be extended to the playing unit. With that in place, every player will feel a sence of belonging and loyalty to the club. Secondly, a few years back, GM was surviving without a sponsor; now that we have a reliable sponsor, ensure you pay players good salaries to ensure they stay longer and only move to a club that is bigger than GM which I think should be outside Africa but not middle-east!

  • @7& 8, winning is a package, stop behaving like a manager in an Indian firm with title and nothing to show for it. Kogallo struggles financially despite the massive following it has. The officials need to trade with players and that is what professional playing is all about. I have watched the likes of Jasirati trek to town after training. Footballers need to live well just like our athletes, comedians and even the so called officials.
Does Kogallo have medical cover for the team? or you are only needed in good health like an Asian boss

@Ingo, players leaving for greemer pastures is a good thing. See the difference between the Oliechs and Wanyamsa and those who remained behind. Those who remained behind despite being good players are basically scrounging in their lives.
@Ingo, are you aware that Luc Emael attended an interview in Burundi yesterday and might leave anytime?
My friend that is life. Let people improve their lives as the life in football is short

  • Yes,4 the 2nd time I reluctantly agree with this Ingo fella.
    1. There are some hints of double standards in the Danny”Flava” case which we’ve known to 2 weeks and the more recent one of Rama. Anyway wake up Bwana “EVERY AGREEMENT IN TODAY’S WORLD HAS AN EXIT CLAUSE. ONE JUST WEIGHS TS PROS & CONS WHICH IS WHAT DANNY HAS DONE.
    2. Why couldn’t this bloated office have sorted out these issues during the transfer windows. Talk to each player. That’s what transfer period is for. At this rate who is next?
    3. In soccer @ Villager, winning is first, NAY EVERYTHING, entertaining soccer is 2nd and money comes a distant 3rd my friend.
    4. Even if (its no longer when) K’galo win the league, will we make any impact in CECAFA and CAF. Are Rama and Danny so disillusioned to move the likes of Qatar 2nd div. Why not wait ,win the league and get more exposure with a good CAF run next year.
WHICH BRINGS ME BACK TO “GOR PLAYER’S ALLEGATIONS”
    a) Paying players in cash and if KRA is investigating GMFC for non-remittance of PAYE etc, then the treasurer and his deputy should RESIGN for incompetence. The office even issued tenders for tax/audit consultants. What happened ?
    b) Gor office @ Nyayo is just a shell with no competent official or employee.
    c) Only AR & Ngala were retained from the previous office. Members elected UNKNOWNS with no football experience whatsoever. We are now paying dearly. AR and Ngala cannot also not escape as GMFC still has no structures, is financially opaque in their extended term in office.

I ASK AGAIN IS THE CURRENT EC CASHING IN B4 THE ELECTION WITH YOUTH RECRUITMENT SCHEME USING THE COACH OF ANOTHER CLUB AND SELLING OFF STAR PLAYERS.

I APPEAL TO GOR FANS TO SERIOUSLY GIVE QUALIFIED LEGENDS A CHANCE COME NEXT ELECTIONS INSTEAD OF RISKING THE CLUBS TO UNKNOWNS WHO HAVE NOT HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH FOOTBALL AT ANY LEVEL. THESE SHOULD BE “DIRECTORS” WITH COMPETENT EMPLOYEES SORT FOR ADMINISTRATIVE WORK.
SURELY PLAYERS LIKE OBWAKA, LULE, SIANGA , MAKAMU ARE OF BETTER CALIBRE THEN OUR CURRENT OFFICIALS.

FINALLY EC ELECTION DATE AND RULES ARE NOT A SECRET WEAPON PUBLISH THEM NO.
TB & PLAYERS BEST OF LUCK AGAINST TUSKER.

  • -We all know how difficult it is for players to succeed during trials and it would be very unprofessional for anyone to put a player in a state of quagmire during his tests. Dan is such a good lad – lets all pray and wish him all the best with his trials, Ken Joseph added.

BTW Danny has never shown herehere behaviour b4. Can you say the same for Bwana, Faiz & Co.
Remember how Pamzo claims Okul frustrated his transfers, well different time same monkeys.

  • My major concern is why all these trials are happening at a time when we need all our best players to help us focus on winning the league title, especially since this time we have the best chance of doing so. Don’t you guys see that this circus will end up disrupting the team’s flow?

If we fail to win the league title this year, we can as well forget about it.

  • THE ISSUES RAISED ABOVE LEAD TO ONE NEED A C.E.O TO RUN THE CLUB guys are talking about medical cover, taxes bank accounts etc
Get employees i.e. full time employees in the office with job descriptions if you continue talking about office or EC Ithink we are dead in water.
and when you talk about the office what do you mean its too vague something more needs to be done.
    i hope tuskers looses today!

  • and another thing the players are the biggest assets of the club or aren’t they ? they must be made as comfortable as possible so that its clear in their minds that by leaving Gor they will be loosing a lot i MEAN GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO LOOSE.but if you want to make them suffer to feel you they will leave in droves Mungai Kiongera will soon also be on his way out and it’s a free world give better salaries and working conditions, medical insurance ,pay salaries to bank accounts, give payslips so that the players can get loans during their playing time to develop themselves and avoid going the Awilo way when their time is up and that’s when playing for Kogalo will become a lifestyle i hope you feel me good people.

This shows how incompetent Rachier n his team are, George Bwana was a wrong choice from the word go. To the tech bench, I think Sserunkuma is so demoralised, he almost delivered the trophy to kogallo last year n now u r busy benching him. Had u played him against Karuturi we would have won the game with a bigger margin. Let him go if u dnt want to play him. Not even PK29 can match Sserunkuma
