Jerim and Calabar win KPL awards

Gor Mahia keeper Jeremy Onyango won the best goalkeeper award while Davoid Owino won the best defender’s award at the KPL annual awards on Wednesday.

Jerim was solid between the sticks throughout the year. During the first leg when goals were hard to come by, it was Jerim who played a pivotal role most notable in the first leg game against arch rivals AFC whom he frustrated with incredible save after save.

David Owino was not only solid in defence but scored several crucial goals. None was more important than the equalizing goal he scored against AFC Leopards during the KPL second leg. It looked like Gor Mahia were buried before “Calabar” controlled an indirect free-kick from Kevin Omondi then rifled the ball home.

Both Owino and Jerim are among the key reason that Gor Mahia conceded the fewest goals in the league alongside Musa Mohamed, Donald Mosoti and Israel Emuge.

Congrats to Jerry and Calabar ja shirati. Given that we have very little time to recruit before the CAF deadline, for certain positions like defense and midfiled we can look locally. Felly Mulumba and John Odhiambo should sign up straight away. In central midfield we can go for the Muhoroni ghanaian (Olesu Tetty??) and Brian Osumba. Its the striking department where we may have to look outside the country even if we sign Keli. Whoever we sign, lets do it early so that the team can spend a lot of time together before Feb when CAF matches begin.

I would have asked who’s this Jacob Keli?
I wish to complain coz on the best player award there should be other factors like call up to the just concluded world cu qualifiers in the national team!
I don’t think the judges were serious.

Well done Jagoal and JaShirati. The truth is that apart from these two players all our other players despite the potential did not come out to shine. Everybody, including other TPL coaches agree that Kevo is very talented but what does he do with the talent. He should by now have cemented his position on the National team and plying his trade outside the country. To me we should also see if we can get back Yusuf Juma from Sofapaka. We currently lack a natural left back after Wekesa was sidelined. As we look for players we can look for playes like Oduor of Muhoroni for our Midfield and the tall left-footed striker at Mathare (former Tusker, can’t remember the name), Omino of Chemelil can help us on the central defence as we ‘risk’ penalties with the central defence as it is constituted. Oboge and Arita can help the Kiongeras and Lavatsas upfront. For midfield can we get Mieno now that Boniface Onyango of City has gone to Ulinzi? Those are my thoughts and we need to recommend more players to the TB & EC for consideration

Good recommendations @ Dan, i add Kahata, Mieno and Keli. The EC should move with speed and open serious talks on the players presented to them by the TB, otherwise we will buy players who will not participate at the CAF competitions.

Ooh Laa la..!” LEAVE THE RECRUITMENT TO TB..PERIOD.!! ”

    Having won the golden boot and best player of the year do not qualify one Jacob Kelli to join K’Ogalo and please the “Wainganjo-coaches” of gormahia.net be reminded that it has been a norm for most of the best player award winners never to future anywhere beyond the ceremony itself and some cases in hand are in the likes of;
    1. Francis Ouma [Mathare United](Rejected in Europe)
    2. Anthony Kimani[Mathare United](Unsettled in Europe]
    3. “Black Berry” [Gor Mahia]( Unsettled, then fired)
    4. Danny Sserekuma (Rediscovered his form in 2nd leg)

If the TB was to go for your so called wish list then in a nutshell we are calling for a total overhaul of the entire team; where on earth will that happen and how long will it take them to get their playing chemistry?

Yusuf Juma should stay put in Sofapaka if he wants his career to flourish instead returning back to warm the bench at Gor mahia. I will advise Mang’oli to do the same as opposed to returning to the DEN and be wasted.

TB and EC please decide on the future of the following players before you even think of this very awkward recruitments:
    1. Edu lavatsa 2. Daddy Kevo 3. Kiongera 4. Oboya

Personally I would advise Edu , Daddy , Kiongera and Oboya to think yonder beyond K’Ogalo as for now if they are serious about developing their careers.
    1. Lavatsa: if EFUSI come calling just take it up.
    2. Daddy: I know TUSKER are keen on you just move ON.
    3. Kiongera: you are better off having playing time
    4. Oboya: You can not redeem your career on the bench.

Mapunda is warming up for SIMBA and I would urge him to leave without even blinking an eye and reclaim his jersey at the TAIFA STARS.

Sammy Okinda I will advise you to stay put at KCB and enjoy your playing time instead of joining GOr Mahia to warm the bench. One Kasaya has been recalled to H/STARS due to having enough exposure and playing time at SoNy and this could not have happened if kept on languishing at the bench in K’Ogalo.

“Le Presida” Elly Kalekwa of Sofapaka once paraded all this regional star studded playing outfit but on all this occasions the so called “Average players” of K’Ogalo missed out in the KPL title at the eleventh hour or is not that Mr.

Money-bag of Man City is struggling while teams that have had consistent playing unit with minimal tweaking during transfer period at EPL are still calling the shots.

This quick fix ideology will not take GM to where it should be just like Ezekiel Odera flopped in K’ogalo and resurrected at THIKA UNITED and so is Peter Opondo, and how about watching Kiplagat terrorizing GM while playing at Karuturi.

    1. If Mapunda leaves get us a strong keeper who will relegate Jerry back to the bench as Bataro keeps touch.
    2. Get a left full back capable of causing re-positioning for the current back four. I mean not only just left legged but more so a talented utility player like “calabar”.

    3. If you want a midfielder then for sure get us not only a maestro who can command, read and change the course but an all rounder. I mean a “Zamalek type”.

    4. If it is a striker, we do not need a ceremonious type but he must be a prolific one capable of not only providing assist and banging in goals. But also creative, powerful and more skillfull more than Ssere.

That is equivalent to managing in 5 or 6 good players and releasing an equivalent. If that is the case then the die has been cast and it is good to let the non performing players to look for clubs the soonest possible.

Lastly on a light note I will reward one “@Jamigori” the “BEST HOOLIGAN OF THE YEAR AWARD” ON THIS BLOGSITE.

GOR MAHIA WILL HAVE TO RELEASE AT LEAST 8 PLAYERS TO MAKE WAY FOR CONTINENTAL LOOK !!!

I URGE WE BUY MIDFIELDERS FROM ZAMBIAN, ETHIOPIA AND RWANDESE LEAGUE, THEY ARE THE MOST CREATIVE IN AFRICA.

AS FOR STRIKERS, I URGE WE GO FOR VERSATILITY AND INTELLIGENCE – MICHAEL OLUNGA, CHRISTIAN BWAMY AND ENOCK AGWANDA

As we think of signing of international players, remember that we can only have 4. I still believe that there is alot of talent in Kenya and with some stability and good preparation, we can still do very well.
I bet most players in Kenya are young men who still need alot of assurance and motivational talks from time to time to convince them that they have what it takes to play and win. And so as we recruit, lets this of what Loga once said: Players who can run and think at the same time. That simply means players who believe in themselves and can make good decisions as they tackle their opponents. We have great skills around!!!

when they say only 4 foreign players, they mean you can ONLY HAVE 4 OF THEM ON THE PITCH+SUBS, TECHNICALLY YOU CAN HAVE MORE THAN 4 IN THE SQUAD BUT YOU CAN ONLY PLAY 4 AT ONCE +SUBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ Jakoyo it is only during KPL league matches that you are allowed to field a maximum of three players and not four at any given time on the pitch. This is as good as saying you can have more than six foreigners on the team sheet during TPL matches but only ensure three of them are on the pitch.

During the past super 8 tournament while playing ULINZI we fielded Mapunda, Emuge, Anguyo and Ssere at one time of which the losers protested but to no avail. The rule is very silent and that is why in CAF competitions the likes of TP MAZEMBE is an African continental football club with a lot foreign players. We should not exempt K’Ogalo at all.

This rule remains very silent when it comes to Super 8, GoTv , CAF , Super-Cup and the emerging “Koth Biro” tournaments. Get us the very best from anywhere but let the recruitment be justified by the TB and not the EC like the former Rodrigues “JA-BRAZIL”.
