K’ogalo custodian and captain Jerim Onyango is racing against time to be fit to face Esperance of Tunisia after missing Tuesday’s training through injury

Gor Mahia goalkeeper and captain Jerim Onyango remains doubtful for Saturday’s first round first leg Caf Champions League match against Esperance of Tunisia at Nyayo Stadium.

Onyango was injured during the Kenyan Premier League match against Mathare United at Machakos Municipal Stadium on Sunday forcing him to sit out Tuesday’s training session.

The goalkeeper said he is fighting to be fit for the match and will probably start training on Thursday. “It does not look bad and I am hoping to start training after one or two days and hopefully I can be in the coach’s plans for the match,” Onyango told Goal.

Onyango helped Gor Mahia progress in the competition after saving four penalties in the team’s elimination of Gabonese side US Bitam. On a positive note, Gor Mahia have been boosted by the return from injury of Patrick Oboya and Kevin ‘Ade’ Omondi.

Coach Bobby Williamson says he is delighted to have the two back as this raises the level of competition for places in the team. “The two are back and their presence gives me plenty of options. It is a good situation to be in.”

    The way I know Jerry’s fighting spirits, I can assure all and sundry that he will be available. Otherwise it is also a good opportunity to test “Bataro” or “Juma” but I doubt if it will happen.

    Quick recovery Jagoal. You rarely get injured that another plus as a player.
    As 2 fans standing up its up 2 the EC explore the various options. But accountability & transpareny r key. Sieze & sustain the wins, gaurantee security of even young fans.
    2 me the 3 most viable options are;
    1. The co-operative idea or even 5bob/day membership. This my friends we can start bloggers & have a head start once GM forms a company/co-op.
    2. Gate collections-Proper timing of matches, security, fair ticket…

    pricing. As regards the mpesa/paybill no. EC should inform branches/members how much is collected using this facility.Can’t b zero. Winning however is the key here.
    3.Sponsorship. How EC/AR assumed Tuzo would renew just beats me. Anyway that’s water under the bridge. “NOW BESIDES THE POINT”
    Message from Odiwuor 2 Jackie Ooh-mole-low /Ooh-more-low. Why r you ranting, raving & being really pissed off when your name is distorted. Is that not what you do to others but they take in their stride!

  • @cafootball av already told u that your team Esperance should use some of its monies to bribe the referee and make him biased, since you brag too much. Otherwise in an open, free, non biased game, your team Esperance will SWEAT PLASMA trying to beat the mighty Gor Mahia. See you in the stadium.
