Kerr Furious with the players

Coach Dylan Kerr is furious with his players because he thinks they have become complacent.

“We conceded a goal off our own mistake. Our so called good players can’t keep the ball. The work that I do off the field, the preparations by watching other teams and in training, it is like I am talking to a brick wall sometimes,” Kerr fumed after the match against Mathare.

Kerr has vowed to make changes during the June transfer window

“I need to do some serious hunting in the June transfer window because I have seen, and I don’t want complacency to set in. We got the quality but we don’t use that quality.” he continued.

Kerr also indicates that the glut of fixtures is having an impact on his side.

“It is very hard for me because we have a tough run of fixtures and some of the mistakes we do in matches should be corrected in training. We have a plan in place to keep the players refreshed but sometimes it is very tough because you don’t want to tire the players. It’s tricky for me because we can’t even do a recovery session for the players. We have travel to think about, we have the game then five days later we have the Confederations Cup which is important for us,” the coach says. he told Capital FM.

Gor Mahia hardly have any time to recover as they need to be ready for the mashemeji derby on Tuesday. Why KPL would schedule matches so close to each other is difficult to understand.

But we know we have a derby which is important for the fans and the Hull City is important to my players because they want to have a chance to play against an English side. I have to pick a team of players who want to play, who want to win,” the coach further noted.

  • Mistakes are showing at the wrong time, coach. You want to be champions you don’t throw away vital matches and concede 8 goals in 4 games…NO, NO, NO ! Not acceptable.

Let me just go ahead and spill the beans , now that the coach has touched on this sensitive issue of those key players i.e meddie , mieno, guikan, shakava and Onguso must get their acts together or else…………..

  • Time has come for Kerr to read the riot act and sweep with an iron broom, this complacency and mediocrity is not synonymous with Gor.The performance of stars like Mieno,Shakava,Guikan and others is below par and questionable. It seems they have been seriously infected with sacred cow syndrome. The earlier they improve the better.Just think of how the cross was easily brought and Alwanga left unmarked! Onguso and central defenders caused that silly equalizer.

What does one tell of Meddie Kagere’s two feeble shots? Meino has the goal at his Mercy and opts for a volley instead of a tap-in because he wants a spectacular. Guikan gets two chances and wastes because he wants to score a classic goal. Samuel Onyango wants to score by drilling the ball through the goalie instead of placing the ball at the far post. All these show complacency and therefore annoying.

After today’s match against Efusi it will be the all too familiar line of many wasted chances and conceding two goals.

  • Cool down Kerr, do not loose your temper, it is good to be furious sometime but to an extent. You are a good coach , try to motivate and make use of the good players you have at hand while waiting for the transfer window. Try to shop for a deadly striker, probably from Cameroon, welcome back Musa mohamed and sign Chrispin Oduor from Mathare. Good luck

“……. I have to pick a team of players who want to play, who want to win,” the coach further noted…..” These are worrying remarks from a head coach. The truth is he has pampered these players for a long and he must just maintain this new tough line. One wonders if the pitch only affected our play and not Mathare’s. How come Mathare’s two free kicks were so deadly accurate yet Shakava and Guikan could only blast theirs skywards?

  • The Match between Gor Mahai Vs Esperance in Machakos was one of the Kogalo`s best display ever: man to man marking, ball possession, good energy throughout the game. The Technical bench should be revisiting that Video occasionally to the players. So far so good , we have good players. If your child makes a mistake just correct him and life continues.

  • Good Sir Kerr, develop a tough attitude and rope players in line. My advice is dont even have a preferred starting 11 since many a times the so called team B has played better than the star studded team A.Give players who work hard playtime period. Why would blackberry be called a team A material yet he does mediocrity day in day out in the pitch while boniface omondois on the bench? Why would mieno be team A yet he is lethargic & cant run while Lawrence Juma & Philemon Otieno are in the bench? Why would Shakava although captain & Joash commit schoolboy blunders galore while momanyi & joachim struggle for game time week in week out?Why would meddie insult us by losing chances while Guikan can start?Utilise every player regardless of their profile But Disclaimer don’t try this advice in Caf Assignment Only local games Sir

  • Kagere has become too wasteful, Mieno and Wendo are too slow and should not play together. Joash keeps on making costly schoolboy errors. The biggest question is why must the coach stick with them. He should read the riot act to himself too. He need not wait for the June window. He has good players at his disposal whom he is never giving a chance. I may be wrong but Momanyi may be an upgrade on Joash but is always benched, Philemon is a dynamic box to box fighter but is always behind Wendo and Mieno in the pecking order, Lawrence is a younger version of Mieno, stylish yet effective but is lucky to even make the bench and finally Boniface Omondi a.k.a Tony Nyadundo is electric on the wings but the coach prefers Samuel who is a good player alright but has not convinced since he joined. What about his fixation with Odhonji who is conceding at an alarming rate yet he has Peter who was spectacular last season almost displacing Oluoch from the number one spot?…..the coach is right to be furious but part of the blame is in his selection. I know the coach is with the players everyday knows them better and we should let the TB do its job and if i know better i should apply to be Gor Mahia coach and the coach does not need my useless advice but remember when i was lamenting over Wafula needing more playtime some couch potato told me off but you all have seen how he has re-energised our right side of late…..!!!

Against Mathare, it was just a matter of time before we conceded a goal from the flanks and that is exactly what happened in the 87th minute. Ineffective substitutions made us ‘lose’ that match. As has been rightly pointed out, Walusimbi, Philemon and Lawrence should have come in for Meddie. Wendo and Blackberry. Hope Ker will do a better fielding as we play this useless, unnecessary and meaningless match against Efusi today.

  • And i agree the Esperance first leg tie display should be the benchmark on which we always try gauge ourselves. We drew 0-0 but played totale Voetbal the dutch philosophy way that even scared the arabs cold & they couldn’t wait to use crude unorthodox means in the return leg to win marginally. Finally team discipline & leadership is totally lacking since Musa left.It is a free for all scenario.Case in point who appointed shakava the free kick trialist blasting them skyward akin to rugby everytime? Why does the midfield lose shape almost everytime & collapse spectarcularly especially the number 8 holding box to box position? Why dont our offensive wingers track back to defend while they know in a 4-4-2 formation that is a Must?Coack Kerr i believe to best utilise our immense pool of talent and pack up the midfield we should revert to a 3-5-2 formation henceforth starting by Efusi today

  • Here we don’t like mentioning names;so let me put a clever question. In our strike force who can be a good candidate for selling in June

Sorry, but Cercidy really has to leave. Sad, but it is the reality.

      • Cercidy is not a striker but i agree he has never been value for money same to Samuel and Mieno

I am aware Cersidy is a midfielder. The lad is a pale shadow of what he was in Nakuru All Stars in the company of guys like Bebeto, Omonge, Akenga etc.this is why Brewkenge snapped him up like a hot cake. I picked on him because I am not of the opinion that a striker should be dropped. Dropping should affect players who have not clicked so far even as we strengthen the striking force and the defence. I concur about Maurice Ojwang and Benard Odhiambo.I wish we could get Oliver ‘Twist’ Maloba back.

    • That is tricky….Kagere is wasteful but a workhorse….Tuyisenge is indecisive but pops up when all is lost while Guikan is showing a lot of promise but yet to be fully tested. I read in Goal.com that Kerr wants to strengthen only the striking department in June but to me that should not be his main worry. Dont we have the second highest record for goals scored after Efusi? What he should be sealing is his backline and our own Bernard Odhiambo a.k.a Calabar Junior has become a Rock of Gibraltar down the Coast at Bandari boasting of the least goals conceded and then Western Stima has a gem in Maurice Ojwang who keeps doing wonders in the Super League. And of course Momanyi……..Then we need a Gattuso or Aucho like engine room maestro. Philemon is close but the coach seems not to trust him enough….Disclaimer: This is my own opinion that the coach needs not read or consider.

Hahaha, Musymo!…..”. Disclaimer: This is my own opinion that the coach needs not read or consider”…. I think these are just our opinions, however do not mind the noisemakers. Just give your raw, untamed opinion. No matter how much it may make a noisemaker uncomfortable, your opinion almost always makes a lot of sense.

  • We can not sell a player before the expiry of his contract , but he can be benched, hence miss his playing allowances. We are badly in need of hiring some players to reinforce the squad, and this should be done in one month time , that is in June, 2018

  • Brothers,Jasego knows what ails K’Ogalo to the bone marrow.GM success since our resurgence in 2013 has been centred around having a superb outstanding & strong holding midfielder no 8 playing the box to box role.In Essence he breaks opponents play and dictates the tempo of the game all the while bossing the midfield and covering the back four akin to a second CDM.Eric Ochieng ‘Jalweny’ Cantona did it superbly,Baba Kizito re-invented it & powered us forward,Aucho Maestro perfected it & on his back we rode to Cecafa finals.Muguna later brought flair to it but left too soon. Now Mieno is struggling in it and the position is wanting. On that i am bringing Solomon Mensah from Ghana,a 23 year old National Team call up who is a mule and skilled as can be.All you need to worry about is which foreigner makes way for him to join,That is the Big Question?
