Kogallo recover to disarm Soldiers

Gor Mahia recovered from their disastrous start to the league when they beat defending champions Ulinzi 1-0 in a match played at City national stadium on Saturday.

Skipper Julius Owino, now fully recovered from an injury made a happy return as did Collins Okoth and Kevin Omondi. Ulinzi gave Kogallo as much as they received. Josiah Odhiambo of Ulinzi received his marching orders in the 51st minute for pulling down Makori.

The all important goal came in injury time via Kevin Omondi. The win over Ulinzi is impressive considering that Ulinzi have been in residential training preparing for their champions league tie with Zamalek. It is also critical because last season, Ulinzi ran away with the league early by winning most of their first leg games.

  • This time congrats to Zico, team, officials and fans. The fielding was spot on with Kevo, Gatuso, Makori all started the game.great result and performance. Next time, the coach should not experiment. Let new players be introduced gradually. The new boy Lavasta is going to a big revelation in the KPL this year.

  • Asante Sana Good Goal Good win. We are proud of Kogallo team, coach, officials and all fans even the so called “hooligans” aka disciplinary committee. That was an important morale boosting and face saving victory. BTW is it right that Ingwe trashed the same Rangers 3-1, anyway that’s water under the bridge, everyone has been vindicated for now. Vent it out albeit peacefully but strongly but never keep quiet when things are going wrong its not GM style. also do not be shy to give credit where its due. Mgt GIVE FANS AN EFFECTIVE AN QUICK WAY OF VOICING THEIR CONCERNS AND ACCEPT THEM AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF KOGALLO. remember fans r the HEARTBEAT/ENGINE OF GOR MAHIA

This one of the goals of the season in the whole world we need to take this video clip and enter it in the goal of the season moments.
The team played very well. I think from now onwards it should be better. Lavatsa just needs two more games. I believe if moses was in this match we would have scored more, I still believe that we are playing one of the best football in the premier league right now.
Lets keep the discipline and Odera needs to be played just behind the tall strikes then he will be fine!

  • It was impressive results. At least the coach Zico listened to the fans’ comments and suggestions regarding the fielding of players. Kevin Omondi, Collins Okoth, Teddy Akumu, Duncan Owiti and Makori were very impressive and lively throughout the match. It is a big joy to watch the combinations of Kevin, Collins, Teddy, Makori and Owiti. I also agree that the young Lavasta is going to be a big revelation in the KPL 2011 competition.

  • Not also to forget the defence that was intact. Evergreen Awilo was to the task. However, he was tired towards the end of the match. Masika, Mohamed and Collins played very well. Ezekiel Odera requires some confidence booster and Zico should bring him in the second half if he can not click. Overally, the team played very well. But we should not be throwing stones like thugs in the pitch.

but I can give it to Kevin . . . .for the clever last minute chip that made the time wasting golie look ordinary.

  • Yes Kevo was the man of the match. I’m very perturbed by the happenings with the gate collection. I read in the newspaper yesterday that our match only raised Kshs.600,000. This must be a big lie of the year. If you compare the receipts from our game to Posta Rangers, the latter raised over Kshs.1.3 million. What is happening with ticket masters? Can they explain whether there are some invincible hands involved in stealing Gor Mahia money?
We need explanation on this from Ticket Masters and the Chairman!!!!!!!!! I’m fully persuaded that there are one or two or three officials in Gor Mahia executive committee with their cohorts who are fleecing the club. I think we need an explanation from the Secretary General, Organising Secretary, Vice Chairman etc. The Secretary General is handling secretariat matters as well as financial docket. These are people who have been even selling fake green Gor Mahia replica jerseys. Any corrupt official should take note that their days are numbered and we are going to expose them to the public gallery. PLO should investigate Gor Mahia officials together with Ticket Masters personnel. We cannot pay for our club for self seekers.

I will repeat my earlier statement that the problems in our society has always been politicians. You’ll agree that most of the GM officials are politicians..these pple will always talk of how they’ll develope the society only to end up with their unhealthy big tummies, they’re the problems and with elections in 2012(nxt yr) expect the worse!
    1. How come the head office was never keen on meeting branch officials before start of season?
2.Why is it geting difficult to open a secretariat?
    3. Why is the GM office not directly managing the replica transaction..is it impossible to organze this venture? or is it impossible to handle it through the branches?
4.The ticket fiasco started with the Ghana march ,how was it handled?

I am not a prophet of doom and i will never be one..but i have a reponsibility to mention that may have been these non sense by these type of people that destroyed the once might GM and made it an academy of the Mathare uniteds,Turskers, Pipelines of those times..the same like minded individuals are back!
It is sad the elite may be driven away to relax n enjoy the TV soccer in the comfort of their homes..
    SO SAD

I want to express my disappointment at the turn of events regarding the ticket saga. there is no way the gate collection would have been 600k. We have so many reputable companies that can handle this kandarasi, lets kick them out, they think they are clever! So many people are going to use Gor as a cash cow wait and see this but one of the many ways they are swindling the fans and the club! so sad

“And meanwhile, Gor Mahia is restructuring its management and has redeployed its long serving team manager Jolawi Obondo who has been mandated to set up a secretariat as the club continues to woo potential sponsors.

    Club’s vision

Gor Mahia has been in talks with several corporate institutions but last weekends ugly scenes may have jolted efforts to secure a deal though the club’s management is focussed on putting that behind them and ridding itself off the bad image.

“The acts of hooliganism cannot have come to us at a worse time when we are at an advanced stage of negotiating for sponsorship with a prospective sponsor,” stated Rachier.

Rachier says the need to set up a secretariat is part of the long term efforts to professionalise the management of the club.

“We want to have a secretariat that will be operational even when there is a change in guard,” he said.

Obondo who first served as the team manager between 1994-1998 was reappointed in 2009.

He says one of his main tasks is to put structures and compile data of the club and also streamline the objective and the vision of the club.

Already Sh1.7 million has been paid as deposit.” END OF QUOTE

I SAY THE OFFICE MUST GIVE US THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR 2010.CLUBS VISION IS STRAIGHT FORWARD WIN KPL 2010,SUPER 8 IN MARCH/APRIL2010, CONTINENTAL 2012. WHY SEND 1.7M ON COMPILING DATA AND PUTTING UP STRUCTURES WHY NOT MOTIVATE THE PLAYERS.

Its okay to have a vision and working on it makes us all satisfied..but kindly note that an organization as big as GM can only be run collectively..handouts cannot make any club grow.
The members must be given financial statements, the budget and then asked to finance it..if issues are shrouded in mystry like this it shows some people are only keen on telling others off eg. hooligans, fans who dont contribute anything etc.

  • Mwakio, Agwa, Ocampo, Jakojera, Oduor etal… we are in the era of transparency and accountability. We need the truth to be exposed for the benefits of the club and real supporters. Ticket masters and other syndicates stealing from what is rightfully meant for the club should be investigated and arrested. We pay to watch GM and for the money to be used prudently for the benefit of the club. However, I’m believing that there could be people in the Executive office, some fans and supporters who could be colluding with Ticket Masters to fleece the club coffers. WE need an explanation from the Chairman on this matter.
