Makori leaps over Jerim

If Gor Mahia fans were hoping for any relief from the recent spell of bad results, it did not come on Saturday as they fell to bottom dwelling club, Bandari by a score of 0-1.

The pitch was waterlogged which made it difficult for both teams. After a goalless first half, Bandari took the lead through Zuberi Hamisi. Gor Mahia came close to scoring via a Kevin Omondi freekick which went inches wide. Moses Odhiambo and Demonde Selenga also came close but could not score. Duncan Owiti “Macheda” replaced Selenga in the 68th minute. Three minutes later he came close to scoring but Bandari survived. The portsmen defended doggedly in the last 10 minutes to deny Kogalo.

Its a lucky thing that Kogalo are safe from the relegation area after the first leg. Their performance in the second leg could easily have seen them drop to the second tier. Missing from the bench was coach Zico whose status is now not known.  But standin coach, Camerounian Anaba Awono has not faired any better. Many fans would be curious to find out what his coaching credentials are and where he coached before. . It is becoming apparent that he may not be the answer either. After all he was already the assistant coach under Zico.

Kogalo were playing without key players Collins Okoth who was sick with malaria, Wycliff Ochomo who is suspended and Edwin Lavatsa who has dissapeared mysteriously.

My DEAR K’OGALO fans this is disheartening. After all the fanfare about air tickets our boys have been humbled by bottom of the table Bandari. Elsewhere in this blog I suggested the prime issue is the welfare of players. As much as air tickets was a good gesture I said we should have rewarded these players with a cash bonus in case of a win. KES 10K for a win instead of air ticket would psych the players. We need analyse this issue beyond technical bench. As said the current coach looks like scaring players. Is he upto scratch? Now my beloved Gor is a laughing stock and puts a lot of stress on me. Now Ingwe is above us albeit on goal difference. When we beat them we were like 15 points ahead of them. Am sacred! I also said Kcb will start doing well when they sacked Saleh. They took 3 points off Mathare United. Lets take radical measures both on tech bench and officials! Am tired!

There is a difference between loosing hope and perseverance. We cant loose hope because we know GOR MAHIA is a great club, we are only tired of waiting for a win that does not seem to come!! Where is Zico?? Whose interest is he serving of late??

  • Are we fighting relegion zone?,when will K’ogalo shine again?,anyway you are my number one team sitakuacha milele na milele.

Admin, It is time you stopped this negative energy… Zico is clearly on his way out so is Rachier assuming he wins the October 29, elections. You on he other hand appear to be stack in a jeremiad of endless whining. We are already out of the title reckoning. What we need from you, as the man setting our weekly agenda is was which we can move the club forward.

In any event our differences with Rachier and Zico are not personal. Kindly embrace a paradigm shift or we will be forced to disassociate with you and this site.

Zico stayed away to demonstrate what can be achieved without him.Any better? So long as issues are personalised we wont move an inch . Abandu nyayango is now coming to give the zico-less team a real thrashing. Quick suggestion , bring on BOB OYUGI haraka mapiyo.I think he is head and shoulders above the cameroonian.Thursday will be a real bad day ,the cat is gleefully licking its mouth , its claws wide out.

  • Paul says:

I am scared to think of what thrashing we will get from Ingwe on Thursday given our current form …… real scared!!

Omondi Omollo what are you talking about ? The author is just echoing what everyone else is saying. Are you dwelling in reality ? Do you realize that Kogalo have not won a league match in nearly 3 months ? Something is wrong with the team. What should we say ? Should we pretend that all is well ? The club has been pretending that all is well for 3 or 4 months and it has not gotten us anywhere. Some Fans have tried to encourage the players. Others have simply departed back to the English league. Some are becoming depressed. Meanwhile when I see Ingwe fans they just laugh at me. Today one told me “Sirkal imepinduliwa !”

Like av always stated….Let us recognize that despite all our misfortunes for now God almighty is our way out…..let us ask him for forgiveness for having disregarded him and adopted ‘research’…..all fans please note that this season we are not able to do well compared to last year ma opinion comes from the angle that looking at the squad that made it to the second position last season had been together for a while…..this season we have changed our squad drastically and this has led to less cohesion in the team….we could perform poorly now but we need to hold onto the players we have for the next two seasons meanwhile the youth team needs to be on it’s toes for smooth transition into the first team……patience jokama!

We have lost again to the bottom team Bandari. Something is terribly wrong with the team. There is no cohesion in the team and there is no leadership in the pitch and outside the pitch as the Chairman is busy campaigning for KFL position. I’m smelling a danger in the team and as soon as the fans exert more pressure, we are going to occupy position 10. Players are not up to the rigors of the game and they lack motivation. The results reflects a serious freefall. Players, executive committee, technical bench and fans are to be blamed. Since I was threatened with unspecified consequences, I decided to keep a very low profile.

    MY RADICAL VIEW

why is it that when a team declares beating kogalo prior to meeting, it surely comes to pass! city ctars, congo, ingwe, bandari & now chemelil……..

    a) kpl must not allow soccer to be played in flooded pitches under thunderstorm, lightening & heavy downpour as it were in kakamega & mombasa on saturday! dont they have brains?

    b) the entire office must be voted out from the grassroot to the fruit level in the coming AGM. they have failed to give direction, listen & lead from the front

    c) the entire technical bench regardless of their contracts must be shown the door to accord us ample time in preparation for next season. we need attack minded bench since the best form of defence is attack. the current bench we have does the same thing in every game expecting different results,,,,…! aren’t they illiterate.

    d) GOR MAHIA is a big club, mighty in fact a brand hence the playing must also play their role effectively. this mediocrity is more than enough. a brand is sth guarded & jelously held. it is time for us to scout

    “BLOGGERS BRANCH UPDATE”

@7 & @8 Omondo omollo Please bwana WAKILI develop the draft zero constitution for the branch and circulate to the rest of members. We need to get started and have our formal meeting soon.

@9& @ 10 VINCENT OCAMPO please facilitate the BLOGGERS branch meeting venue, day and time to our members. Take into consideration Samson Dianga preference for weekends(Saturday or Sunday) to avoid inconveniences.

@17 Brother Mwakio do not keep a low profile as much as you have been threaten. We the members of the new “BLOGGERS BRANCH”do welcome you join hands with rest us especially at this moment when everything seems to be ELEPHANT.

Ndugu MWAKIO while we were playing AFC when you were away in PARIS attending to some business; we made a resolution to do things differently. We have embarked on registering the new branch namely “GOR MAHIA BLOGGERS BRANCH” as an affiliate of GOR MAHIA F.C.; that will make us a “THE VOICE OF REASONING” within the GM fraternity.

Its our resolve that we change things from worse to better through our branch affiliation to GM. The branch goal is to steer GOR MAHIA to the level of CLUB-ASEC ABIDJAN or TP -MAZEMBE of DRC as WUON PAP will always put it.

The only way for you MWAKIO and WUON PAP to end this frustrations and have your meaningful contributions factored into GM decision making organs is to register as members of any branch, so that we can engineer changes that we do desire from within.

Otherwise all the rhetorics that we do post on this site ultimately just remains as such.

  • Albert Kosero (Sofaset Branch - Kampala) says:

What an outing? Now I guess all can see that the problem has not been ZD. He has been away for over a month now, but nothing has changed. We still keep losing matches. What exactly is the problem? It seems we have been pointing an accusing finger to the wrong person. For God and my club Kogallo

  • Jared Otieno says:

Its ok players.. We know there is a problem. All will be alright. We are behind you. We will support you to the end.

  • LET US SOLDIER ON GUYS

I agree these are desperate times for Gor Mahia. The recent loss to Bandari at Mbaraki sports complex dimmed the quest for a title this season. while I laud the boys for the spirited fight, I blame the match commiser for allowing the match to go on in a water logged pitch.

I think the boys are also under immense pressure from fans and still lack the mental strength to withstand it.

Finally i wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to family, friends and indeed the entire AFC Leopards family for the death one fan and quickly recovery to all those who sustained injuries during a road accident along Naivasha – maimahiu road after attending a KPL match. K’Ogalo family commiserate with you during this difficult period. May the Almighty God rest the soul of the departed fan in eternal peace.

  • Ja Thur gi ji says:

This has been expected all along, perhaps the fight now should be focused on a top 8 finish but even if its outsided eight at least we have seen what mismanagement is about and we should rectify this in the new season. Seriosly, everybody who loves Kogalo has been embarassed by the turn of events this season. Everybody had hoped for the title at the beginning but as the results started coming right from the first match the signs were all there for all to see. There some very good players in the team but I fear for a possibility of mass exit unless something is done about it.

Thanks Sony you seem to have said some one cannot keep molesting your big brother and you just sit and watch and you showed Congo how to respect elders: Sony 4 Congo 1,and in their so called backyard!!! Thanks my brothers, we shall come to you soon so that you hand over a few of you soldiers. I hope someone will take note.

  • Dan says:

I think what we should now focus on a few things:-

    1) Aim for a top 8 finish and this is still acheivable

    2) Ensure that there is no exodus of players, and if they leave, then we should do some proper recruitment. For example, Vincent Ochieng of Chemelili has proved to be quite good. Watched him terrorise Tusker last week. There is also a good defender (Okello of Bandari to boost our defence) and also the Chemelil stopper.

    3) Let’s beef the technical team without being personal. Maybe ZD needs training on people management and communication skills which he could be lacking. Remember that even top-notch CEOs undergo such training. Maybe we need a phsychologist for the players after all winning is not only physical training but the state of the mind as well. Currently their phsyche must be at its lowest and this is expected.

    4) Let’s interogate those who vie for GM leadership. They should have a blue print and targets on where they want the team to be within a specific time, say 5 years. The aim should not just be to win the league but how to improve on all aspects of the club.

    5) As fans we should know that losing is part of the game and the current status is motivation enough to know that our unity is paramaount. Everyone is hurting and the players even more. We should stop just condemning and also offer solutions. Let’s stop the behaviours which potray us a sore losers.

I still believe we have a team and branches to move us forward. The league is tough as you can imagine Ulinzi losing to City stars at Afraha of all places. If we get our act together with some good luck and God’s intervention we can still get a top five finish. By the way last year we used to attend prayers before our matches. Now we need those prayers more than ever before.

    Long Live GM

  • . . . . .Having been in a consultative meeting with the the A.F.C assistant coac, Micky Weche, he says come Thursday they are assured of a win. . . . .that Gor mahia style of play is so predictable that they will frustrate the team hence concede many!! . . .2ndly, he feels that there is disunity within the team, and it is not good for Gor Mahia as they are going to capitalise on this, . . .. .so, to all fans, even if AFUSI wins on Thursday, blame it on their better performance, and Zico’s failures. . . ..my email address is Phillchief@yahoo.com

  • ODUOR12 says:

By God’s grace may we win thursday’s game. Fans its gonna get worse b4 it gets better n do not expect the rot that has been there since our first game can be cured in one month!Thx Jabilo 4 the 2 constitutions n those who ave read GM’s can see its quite comprehensive, therefore the problem seems to be in its implementation. As a start may i suggest that GM officials(n coaches) be specifically be barred from engaging in politics or KFF while in office, minimum qualifications 4 coaches n TM must b stated.

  • ODUOR12 says:

Allow me to continue, in the medium to the long term we must endeavour to turn GM into a professional outfit as so ably expounded by Wuonpap,Mwakio(i join those appealing that u join B.Branch) n many others.
The other issue we shld start considering is our membership fee visa viz GM’s, do we want levels of membership and finally time is of the essence if we r to we r to participate in the next AGM as a branch

  • Wabiro loyo abandu on Thursday. The skills displayed by the playing unit was super, the field denied them nice soccer. Hope it wont rain on Thursday and we shall show somebody what we are made of.

  • Amimo Paul says:

Definitely, Gor must go beyond Mashemeji to make a comebeck. It does not go well when Kogallo continue loosing. It is really shamefull for a coach to stay put when out of games only a win and a draw realized. Well Kogallo needs a quick surgery otherwise we are done If 1st leg Kogallo would not have done well, the team would be at relegation zone with the kind of results. Please do something Kogallo.

  • ole mendex says:

This is the time to plan for the next years league, and the only solution is to do an overhaul on the technical bench, and scout on new promising players from the grassroots and the league, otherwise we r done home and dry, we still have next year to enjoy our bragging rights.

  • mbusi says:

  • dan collins obonyo says:

i urge the fans to be etra petient and restrain, dont we think a psychologist and counselling will do our players some good? from what ve seen in recent games including the Mombasa one, the players feel the pressure and heat from the fans and hence they should be talked to concentrate on the field and play than think of what fans will do if they loose, JERRY SHOULD BE SNATCHED THA CAPTAIN ARMBAND sooner than later

  • Sam Dola says:

In Bandari Match, I could see the players were very determined. It’s the cattle Boma in the name of Mbaraki Sports Ground that denied us a win .The same line up will surely beat AFC

The Capatincy should go to Solomon Nasio. The guy is determined and mature is character.I bet the players know what the problem is, if only they could confide in us so that we solve the problem!

    Next is Ingwe’s game

  • Dan says:

From the posts so far looks like the players are doing their best and once they overcome the confidence crisis we will be back. Let’s give them all the support we can including financial incentives and we will again have our swagger back. The Ingwe game should be the one to change our fortune just like their fortunes changed when we beat them last time. Cond=olnces to the 3 ingwe fans who perished in the road accident

  • Agwa Kassam says:

Guys the current situation has been cooking for a long time right at the beginning of the season..Zico has been busy destroying the Siang’a team all along as others made their teams strong..we said it.

I do suggest too that Siang’a had a vision for GM MAY BE HES HOULD BE BACK OR SOMEONE OF HIS CLASS.

Remember the big book says ‘ An evil woman destroys her house with her own hands’ thats what has been done in GM..tHE PEOPLE ENTRUSTED WITH MANAGING gm ARE THE ONE WHO COMMITTED TIME AND RESOURCES TO BRING IT DOWN..

Look at the way our boys played their hearts out..we lost couragiously.

  • jb says:

this @jb am thankful i received the copy of the Constitution i am reading it ,back to the issue on the table we failed when we employed Zedekiah who has a lost philosophy in football coaches don’t play so if you generate personal vendetta with players based on venial issues you disorient the dressing room and loose it eventually secondly fans pay to entertained if any player or sets of players expect to find it easy they better try their hands in another field thirdly,we need to prepare early in today’s world we need not to go too low we shall loose alot if we let ourselves continue with this current crop of staff at gor mahia this ja -cameroon cannot even express himself in this and that English where can he go ? he has reached dead end let us change the way everything is done at gormahia am returning to watch kogallo on Thursday some lad talked me out i cannot spell his name cos it is difficult for me but am happy for him and thank you

  • BRING THEM ON: KWANI?

Comrade JB. I am sorry you could not spell my name but I thank you for changing your mind. They say only a fool doesn’t change his mind.

This great club is big enough for all of us. We cannot even afford to loose a single fan, in any case we need more fans from the breadth and width of this country. Our fans are also scattered all over the globe and we would like see GM USA branch, GM UK branch ex cetra.

Bob Munro, the brain behind Mathare United had a vision to build a stadium for MU in his lifetime. To the faint hearted, this is a tall order. Then comes the common questions, how is he going to finance this mega project? Who will be his financiers? Where is he going to get the land? How much is the land? Let me tell you, this project shall come to pass. This is the kind of leader we need at K’Ogalo.

A visionary and selfless leader. With a meager income, he was able to nurture MU to what it is today. A successful club in the Kenya premium league. And the old man is not sleeping on his laureals! Where do you think, Bob would be if he had the same resources such as GM? The difference? He is a good steward of the club resources. Period.

  • Jackowili says:

The most disgusting thing about the Bandari match was the stoning of a 9-year-old Bandari fan by mature, adults in the name of Kogalo fans.

How do we earn respect from others if we cannot allow others to cheer their team? No wonder every other team strives to beat us so as to teach our stupid fans a lesson.

That young boy could be Kogalo,s Abbas Magongo in future but I doubt if he would ever want to associate with Gor Mahia because the memory of blood gushing from his fractured skull will never be erased from his mind.

  • Dan says:

@Jackowili(44). u r right. As much as the branches like Facebook and our Divas do the honourable thing like getting our team air tickets to Mombasa some of our fans erase that goodwill with their uncouth behaviour. I wonder what we need to do to remove such fans from our group. Was it really necessary to throw stones even if provoked? Unfortunately after such an incident all of us are branded the same. I like @pareiyo(43) analysis of what Munro has done to MU and that’s the type of leadership we need in GM. As i sais before we should strive to do what Siang’a told us. Build a team for the future and set up the structures. It’s better not to win the league in the current year or next but have a competitive team with a long future and a feeder junior team. Some of us now crying for Siang’a are the same ones who manhandled the old man just because we wanted instant result with a team consisting of school boys as compared with a team like Sofapaka which was composed of who is who in Kenya soccer. I hope we are sobering up on the fact that the current form of GM is not about personalities as even with the coach away we are still struggling. So where is the problem? A tricky question for all of us to answer.

  • ochigah says:

Sports is like politics where there is no permanent enemy. Lets accept we erred by firing Siang’a and call him back. I know the old papa had a vision for the team and what we were proud of last year was as a result of his vision. ZD we appreciate your effort to destroy what papa had struugled to bring together for your personal gain. Im sure with your stewardship Harrambee Stars is going no where.Lets put our heads together and send a strong team to convince papa since we need him badly. Once that is done we identify for him a good assistant who will be ateam player and not somebody to rival him in the team. The idea is to have cohesion in the playing unit, technical bench and the EC. Let papa sign a longterm contract with the club and given a free hand to traverse the whole coutry and identify new players as the current ones is infested with the politics of the country. Then let the game flow

  • manizzle says:

I am also ashamed at the behaviour of some fans, i think it has gotten to the point where we’ll have to take matters in our own hands when dealing with them. I’d prefer leaving the stadium quietly without engaging opposing fans or worse our coaching staff and players like other GM fans do. They really make me ashamed of wearing my jersey but i think its time we put this to a stop. Surely how does a MAN stone a 9yr old BOY? Anyway I think the fans and the club should focus more on building for the future and not instant results – we’ve seen where the demand for instant results has taken us. I’d rather we build a unit for the next three years after which we’ll dominate Kenyan and African soccer for a long time rather than quick fixes that get us to number 2 in this season and God knows what position in the following one.

  • Ataly says:

The only bad thing is that these fans don’t participate in good forums of making k’ogalo a better team.the just wait for match day and cause shame.but if we want we must start sensatizing and shaming them let lead.we can do if we have a lead branch since the leaders have failed.

  • I AM SORRY

I wish to personally say sorry to the young Bandari fan ( I don’t know his name ) who was injured during the Bandari – GM match at Mbaraki sports complex last weekend.

This was an unfortunate incident which i condemn in the strongest terms possible. Infact the GM fan who hit the teenager must feel ashamed of himself. It is now time we acted decisively to stem such acts of lawlessness. If anyone has useful information that will lead to the arrest of that person or group of persons, please do not hesitate to volunteer the information to the police.

I relate this incident with the one in western, where a boda boda driver picked a phone that was dropped by GM fan hanging precariously in a hired bus. What ensued was a scuffle that attracted the wrath of villagers. Rather than reason, GM often choose the opposite, many times ending either in death or injuries. No wonder blood is following us each season.

    May God forgive us.

  • Agwa Kassam says:

Guys its good we have a place to air our views and lets do it will all the passion attainable.

The stoning and hooliganism is never welcome anywhere and must be condemned, now that we all abhor it wholesomely lets all join branches for effective club and crowd management. As it is the GM model is such that its attractive to all and sundry.

So we need to synchronize membership and be able to separate the chaff from the dough by constructive support..its when we’ll be able to know who’s stoning and who’s not, otherwise we’ll all be consistently branded together with these good for nothing bandits!

    Looking forward to thursday.
