Oktay: Move fast and sign Tuyisenge

Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay has urged the club to act fast in order to keep Jacque Tuyisenge

Additional reporting from goal.com

Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay has admitted that the club is on the verge of losing lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge. Goal reported on Monday that AS Vita Club has renewed their interest to sign the Rwandan striker after their initial bid was knocked down in January.

The DR Congo giants have already approached Gor Mahia for the services of the striker, who scored the winning goal, as K’Ogalo reached the last eight of the Caf Confederation Cup.

Oktay has urged Gor Mahia to speak to the player and tie him down to a long term contract or else they will lose their ‘best player.’ “I know several clubs are fighting to sign Tuyisenge, it is not a secret anymore, even teams from Europe have approached Gor Mahia for his services,” Oktay revealed to Goal in an interview.

“I want to plead to the office to tie him down to a new contract because the offers he is receiving from Europe and Africa are very enticing and he could move. “He is a professional player, a very decent player, one of the best strikers in KPL and I would like to work with him for longer at Gor Mahia.”

Tuyisenge moved to the Kenyan champions in February 2016 after captaining Rwanda national team Amavubi to quarter-finals of the 4th African Nations Championship (Chan) finals, which was staged in Rwanda.

  • I have looked at the behavioural patterns of coaches in Europe where Hassan Oktay supposedly came from and never have I seen the kind of verbal diarrhoea this guy spews in the media every hour of the week , never I seen the kind of touchline theatrics coupled with leading brainless fans in pitch invasions , never have i seen a coach clownishly slaying with women at training grounds and never ever seen any coach gleefully rubbishing the work of a predecessor like this clown does .
If all these things dont happen in Europe , then
from which Europe did this Waiganjo come from .
If my worry is not enough , am worried that one day we may wake up to Eric Adede kind of headlines of one of our own caught openly and rebelliously smoking bhang at kariobangi matatu stage .
Rachier should stop running Gor like an Ekeza Sacco , discipline in the club must be mandatory , clear lines of communication must be followed and chains of command respected .
I just dont see the difference between Oktay and Nyangi -Bure kabisa , Keep off your obsession with the media , we have a tough quarter final awaiting us-FOCUS but if you have something pressing to say , you know where managementoffices are and stop assuming those media guys are your friends .

Teddy I am glad you have seen what Dinga, Musymo, Sylvester, Jamriambo, Levelmind Fan, Dan Original and I saw some time back. It was sadenning to kind of rebuttal unleashed on a very objective post by Levelmind Fan….The usual “there are many coaches in Gor Mahia”. I guess for this one you have posted, you will be told to “give Oktay a break, send your application to be considered for Gor Mahia coach” and of course the very obvious and usual culprits will crown it all with a barrage of cowboys’ verbal insults (matusi ya wachungaji ngo’mbe or closer home: ayany jokwath).

Hats off to all those bloggers who have a conscience that can never and has never allowed them to spew the cowboys’ lingua on perceived lesser beings. Teddy Sofaset you are in this list together with Dan, Dinga, Musymo, Albert Kosero, Baba Travis, The Villager, Oduor12 and a few others. Unfortunately the list is not long. Too bad.

      • @BB, Sometimes when you see me coming late to the party , its normally coz I dont appreciate what critics of Oktay have to say but rather because I normally dont agree with people attacking the symptons rather the source of the ailment .
Oktay is a sympton of an ailment called the EC , because the same way we gave the bankrupt Italian company contracts to build dams without due diligence is the same way we sign coaches and also the same way we sign players e.g the Brazilian Waiganjo striker .
So to all those who criticise Oktay , I think we can all agree that even if Oktay goes and a similar self serving criteria is used by the EC to bring another one , it will just be but another viscious cycle .
If anybody has ever bothered to be attentive enough , you will note that during the transfer season the coach is normally conveniently out of the country for whatever reason or we are transitioning from one coach to another , then players are signed on non football technical and tactical criteria , then the coach comes after and is pressured by the same EC and non attentive fans to perform with some people not worthy of adorning a Gor Mahia jersey .
Its in this context and perspective that am normally a reluctant critic of our coaches because I sympathise with the unprofessional manner and the lack of investments they have to operate under .
I still maintain that technically and tactically , I still find it early to have a finality of opinion on Oktay , but my opinion on his sideshows is now on record .
If you look at the picture he took with the slay queen , would you conclude that is a picture of a guy in management or one of a Sex Tourist .

Even with a gun on my head, Teddy, I would never make such a pose with a woman I don’t know, knowing what an unforgiving animal social media is. Teddy I read your concern very clearly and that is what Ugali Saucer, Odhis Muga and Sylvester have also reiterated: whatever talking the coach has to do, let him engage the relevant Gor Mahia officials and certainly not the media.

Yes Tyuisenge maybe on demand now, but why must Oktay tell the media about it?Has he anticipated an underhand deal like what Nutall did in Ghana? He addressed the wrong audience, the message however good was meant for the chairman and his Ec. Anyway did Gor collapse after losing Olunga, Sserunkuma, Kagere?Does Oktay think that Tyuisenge will stay in Gor forever? C’mon Mr coach Gor is bigger than what you think! With or without Tyuisenge we shall still stand strong and continue with the battle. Remember how people wrote us off when Kagere joined simba but where are we now?Let Tyuisenge not be distracted otherwise we will write him off and move on.

  • Okay has so far brought 62.5million to gor mahia fc and counting.this is a financial record and as such he is free to do whatever he fills like. Our 98% coaches in the terraces have brought us the following:
    1.three points deduction.
2.paying 20/=bribe to get access to stadium
    3.pitch invasion pending penalties.
4.Insulting the EC despite being the most successfull.
    5.and many other primitive,australopithecus
    Era habbits.
So who do i need in gor? Fans or Oktay?Go to hell the so called fans.

  • Eeh i am reading correct things or i am seeing my eyes deceiving me? I ask What Wrong Has Coach Oktay done? He is abit zealous and gets carried away due to perhaps happiness of being in-charge of a big time once in his life where he calls the shots. He has brought the team to uncharted waters so far which is a fact we should pride in. I wish him the very best going forward in Caf and Domestically…

    • Kindly Jasego just tell him to tone it down, we appreciate his efforts but the kind of agitation we’ve witnessed on touchline borders on something close to neko for someone who does not understand him and for this he has been send to the terraces twice now.
On Tuyisenge am of the opinion that those concerned should start scouting for a worthy replacement if indeed there are prospects of him leaving. He is not permanent at gormahia and we should not stand on his way to a better package… my opinion

    • @Jasego , they always must be a clear distinction between a parent and a child , a teacher and a student , a coach and a player.
Where the difference between a parent and a child is blurred is where we see the societal rot that we see , where e.g the parents are getting red cards in the same frequency as the children , where the parents lead the children in invading/trespassing hallowed grounds and loses his phone amidst childish enthusiasm .
No wonder nobody has seen it warranted to mentor the players on how /why to avoid cards at the rate we are getting them .

I wonder what does those guys opposed to people discussing possible scenarios or ones preferred scenario that is different from the OFFiCiAl COACH ,want us to discuss, there family matters or politics or just clap without thinking?,A guy asks me to leave coz I haven’t seen the philosophy Oktay is talking about so far (though Yes we are winning-kudos). Is the dude the GATEMAN.??.Why do we need technology when we can see the obvious , we can’t posses the ball for even 3min, Wendo’s complete passes are either backward or sideways ,our defense cannot start with short passes moving forward, we average less than 100 complete passes in an entire 90min.
Just like Mourinho, Oktay is so much focussed in studying and stopping the opponent (getting result, which is gud) and less on improving our system of play. B4 u’jam, kimshipa kifure kwa uso , let me inform you, am a certified KPL blogger coach class B, soon I will attain KFF one.

  • I think its worth saving people from this ignorance imparted on people by the media that Gor is going to get another 35m/= , on the contrary what Gor will get is 35m minus the the amount they have already received .
Secondly , no fan is in Gor by invitation and if anything , most fans in Gor have been there , seen tens of coaches and ECs come and go , and all have received praise and criticism in equal measure but all in the hope of an even better Gor Mahia .
Lastly , people should also understand not to confuse ignorance with arrogance , the former is a consequence of lack of depth or shallowness , and not understanding in context why people praise or critise is nothing but one dimensional single phase shallowness that more often than not lead to uncalled for or unwarranted sychophancy , this trait is what the ignorant confuses with arrogance .
This is a wall for Gor Mahia fans and as such opinions will vary and those opinions must be on the factor that brought as here.
Going to hell or heaven is neither here nor there but if you so choose to wallow in your behind the keyboard cowardice but wish to potray yourself as a
“keyboard warrior ” is all but a matter of choice .
I will support the EC and the Coach when its warranted but where I see an area that needs improvement , I personally will point out.
The coach must behave like a guy in management and not be slaying with women in training like a broke kirinyaga road tourist .

  • Taken a glance at the premier league table and despite playing only 15games , we
have amassed 32 points , while Sofapaka and Bandari tie on 33points despite playing 18matches .
Glad to note also that Afc have also moved to 13th place on the log and am happy for them because an improved Afc that is capable of challenging Gor Mahia is good for Gor Mahia as a team and an incentive to fans of both teams to regularly attend matches to push their teams knowing there is hope of taking the trophy or the threat of losing it to either .
Losing the league to Tusker , Bandari , Ulinzi etc is just but a weekend’s pain but losing it to Afc is a year long pain with constant and persistent reminders of who the defending champions are .
So for those who question of what concern Afc would be to a Gor fan , that is just but one of the sentimental and pragmatic dynamics at play .
Its for the good of Gor mahia and kenyan football , So Go Go Shemeji .

  • Watched the Ghana, Harambee stars game with special focus on the Gor Mahia players in the team and these were my take aways .
1.Kahata- His talent and class has never been in doubt , but this boy looks fatigued and needs a lot of rest before the Berkane game .
    2. Wherever Philemon is right now , he sure is glad the game is over after a 90minutes of pure and unadultrated torture by Christian Atsu , but lesson learnt is that the same is expected from the Morrocans and I hope the coach Oktay has taken note .
3 . This man Joash Onyango in my opinion was the man of the match , a defender with zero tolerance to nonsense and beauty , inspires fear in opponents and inspires confidence in his team mates , Coach Oktay must come up with a formulae to create a seamless and flawless backline of Philmon , Momanyi, Joash and Geoffrey Ochieng with Joash being the fulcrum , with L.Juma playing just ahead of the pack for onward transition .
Am of the strong belief that of the 5carded players , its only in the goalkeeping dept. that am worried about , but only bcoz I dont know Bony’s current status , I am in a good mood so I dont want to imagine about Odhonji .
While playing at home , we may go for two strikers I.e Kip and Oliech and I am still one with a very strong belief that if Oliech can stay 100% focussed and train hard for this game , he is still a much much better striker than any we currently have in Gor and for sure he needs to seize this chance occasioned by Tuisenge’s suspension .
As for Wendo , I wish to thank him for the utmost patriotism he showed the club by getting himself redcarded hence saving the team the agony and rolling nightmare of him being in that game and any other
game in the foreseable future .

  • Looking at the Stars game today, there is some improvement in Kenyan soccer. My disappointment today is on Wanyama and Joahna Omollo. Philemon Otieno is fast fading from my list of favourites.
Kudos to Joash Onyango. Even though sometimes misplaced he has the correct mental attitude and today display was attractive. Kahata is becoming pedestrian in his game, it was hard to find what exactly he wanted to do but I must add that J.Omollo let him down in several occassions.
Meanwhile I expect Gor to do some catching up on the league. With the experience gathered in CafCC KPL will surely be mincemeat. Gor is in a gud position. Congrats for managing the CafCC and KPL well, but this does not necessarily mean that Gor is playing good football.
The average Kenyan player can be good but their biggest let down is the mental strength.
Players who have shown gud strength of the mind are Kagere, Tuyisenge, Oliech et Olunga. These are the kind of players I would go for. Musa Mohammed is right up there, I wish he could come back to Gor.
Migne selection was not the best, he seems to be under too much influence from Nick Mwendwa. Todays match needed the likes of D.Owino et Akumu.
Finally, Gor shud go for D.Odhiambo.

@Teddy, Coach Oktay is right to talk about Tuiyisenge contract and many of bloggers here have been complaining about the opaqueness in dealings with transfers of players by the Executive Committee. The coach’s appeal to Executive Committee to tie down Tuiyisenge in a new contract is spot on. Suppose the transfer of Tuiyisenge to another team is done secretly, the bloggers that are now not happy with the coach will be first to spew venoms at the Executive Committed with all manners of vitriol, abuses and insults.

On the coach having taken a photo or picture with the lady, I would like to know what was really wrong with pausing or taking a photo with the young lady? Human beings world all over will always like to associate with success. Coach as a man just like you and I has a natural feeling and taste for a woman. I would just like to know whether the lady in question is a blogger’s underage sister/daughter and wife/girlfriend. However, it is important to note that taking a picture or photo in whatever positions should not be construed to be a criminal offence under any penal law code in Kenya. Please let us give the coach a space to enjoy his life and freedom of press or speech.

Bloggers, I think we should instead be discussing and venting our anger on very important matters like the current congested fixtures Gor Mahia is lined up to play as this is really being unfair to players and Gor Mahia which is also representing Kenya in CAF competition. For example within a period of 7 days, Gor will be playing on 27 March, 30 March, 1 April, 4 April before meeting Moroccan team on 7 April. The most worrying fixture is shield cup where Gor Mahia is the home team but the match has been slated to be played in Mbaraki ground which is the home ground of Bandari. The playing surface of Mbaraki stadium is like a shamba and furthermore the host which is supposed to be Gor Mahia is being denied all rights to host the match either in Nairobi or Kisumu. The congested KPL fixtures and action by FKL are double standards aimed at ensuring that the Gor Mahia fails to progress in FKL and CAF competition as well as not defending the KPL league. I am just wondering what is the rush for completing the league in May that can be done in July with the next KPL season starting in October instead.

Players are human beings and subjecting them to such congested fixtures is not healthy and good for development of football in the country. The congested fixtures confirm that both KPL & FKL are colluding to ensure that Gor Mahia does not win anything this season.

We as bloggers are very fast to judge players. Do we really understand how many matches these players have played? Do we understand that fatigue is very fast setting in our Gor Mahia players? Sometimes commenting without deep understanding of the underlying problem or doing situation analysis is not good at all.
