Rachier: No more home games in Kisumu

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has declared that the club will no longer play home matches in Kisumu due to what he terms as fraud by gate stewards. This is an issue that e-Ticketing was supposed to address.

Gor Mahia will no longer play their home Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches in Kisumu, club president Ambrose Rachier has said.

Rachier this morning told Royal Media’s Ramogi FM Gor has been incurring heavy losses whenever they host matches at the Moi Stadium Kisumu, citing low gate collection returns due to un-tamable farud.

According to the chairman, in their last match against Tusker in Kisumu on August 31, tickets worthy Sh. 511,000 were sold but the club ended up getting only Sh. 112,000. This was in contrast to the Ksh. 600,000 they spent in preparations and air travel to Kisumu, to honour the fixture.

“Our stewards are the cause of these problems. A better part of gate collections end up in individual pockets and we face this problem mostly in Kisumu. We cannot stand these losses hence the decision not to play in Kisumu unless we are convinced this vice is corrected,’’ told Rachier.

The chair said the stewards have been colluding with half loyal fans to access the stadium, taking bribes as little as Sh. 50 to advance the crime.

‘’The stadium was packed during the Tusker match, yet we ended up getting as little as Ksh. 112,000 as our share. We can’t continue making losses in the name of making our Kisumu fans happy ,’’ underscored Rachier.

Despite the setback, he confirmed Gor will continue with the e-ticketing system that was introduced this season. He explained those entrusted with assisting fans in the e-ticketing  process have also been diverting monies into their own accounts. The service providers, he said, have now come up with an advanced system to curb the losses.

Meanwhile, Rachier has said lack of their own stadium has been the major hurdle to financial freedom, coupled with lack of sponsorship.

“If we had our own stadium, the borrowing culture would be a bygone issue but the stadium land allocated to Gor Mahia in Kasarani has complicated legal issues and nobody is willing to come clear about the title deed. Even the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani  itself has no title deed. I can’t therefore promise when exactly we can have our own stadium’’.

Former  Gor Mahia Turkish coach Hasan Oktay has initiated plans to have Turkish Airline help Gor construct a stadium, but his departure marked the end of the deal.

During their last trip to Algiers for their Champions League match against USM Alger in which they were hammered 4-1, the government purchased 18 tickets for Gor with the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga taking care of their accommodation expenses.

Kipkirui: We still have a chance

Gor Mahia striker Nicholas Kipkirui says the team still has a chance of proceeding to the group stage of the Africa champions league.

“We will have to play better at home to stand a chance (of qualifying),” Kipkururi told the Algerian press. ” he told the Nation

Kipkirui noted that much improvement was needed for the team to stand any chance in the second leg.

“We gave our best but then this things happen. You cannot tell how we were three goals down at half-time. So we have to attack and defender better next time even though it is a tall order.”

I thought with e-ticketing the money goes directly to the club’s / service provider’s account. So from kes.511,000 collected from e-ticket sales how does the club end up with just about 20% ( kes.112,000). ADOR you have a problem not only with the stewards in Kisumu but also a similar problem with your e-ticketing team. As a lawyer you so know it’s stealing from your employer. With e-ticketing there’s a paper trail so you can easily recover any monies STOLEN but will you?

Let’s do away with e ticketing for now…..before you implement any idea u should do a case study and access it’s feasibility…all that glitters ain’t gold…mean while I request for us to beat mc Algiers…Tobby must improve his positional discipline, Kipkirui must improve his hold up play… Mapigano must stay as far as possible from the goal post,.. thank you

“Former Gor Mahia Turkish coach Hasan Oktay has initiated plans to have Turkish Airline help Gor construct a stadium, but his departure marked the end of the deal.”
These sre the kinds of solutions one can refer to as hallucinations, combined by the myriad other plans and projects always being thrown about on this page page.
For once let me congratulate Rachier for taking action on one third of the problem which is mis-management of collections at the gate.
The second problem is failing to account for Gor incomes.
The third is getting fans to attend matches.
So unfortunate that fans are so ready to offer so many disparate solutions yet Gor Mahia’s problems remain so basic.
So building a stadia, sending 350100, getting each fan from Moyale to Lamu send kshs 1000/-, registration, sacco, census, handshake and any other idea that is suggested is equal to Oktay asking Turkish airline to build Gor Mahia a stadium. These ideas can only supplement but they are not solutions
Mr Rachier, Gor problems are so obvious and they stare you right at the face If you cannot handle these problems, then I suggest that you look the mirror and there you shall see problem number four.

I am back!!! The team needs 3 leaders/captains, each for the defence, midfield and in the attack on any given match day. Today, we can appreciate the roles Jacques Tuyisenge, Shakava and Kahata used to play in Gor Mahia. they were the leaders/captains in each of the positions named above. Jakaka, may not have scored lots of goals but he had the presence to keep the opponents’ defence busy through out the 90 minutes. In constantly running the channels, he created lots of spaces for the other strikers to run into and score. Jakaka was a present goal threat (in the air and on the ground). He also scored and defended our goal line whenever he was required to do so. Shakes was the leader at the back, commanding and strong in the tackle and would chip in with an occasional off goal. Kachi would create lots opportunities for others even if he didn’t score lots of goals. He controlled the midfield superbly. We lost these captains, we lost the lungs, the brain and the heart of the team in no particular order. We were not able to replace them with players of equal or better ability!!! Our present set up is lacking in many aspects of the game. Joash reads the game very well, he is quick and is a good header of the ball from the defensive perspective but he is no goal threat. If he had the build of Virgil van Djik, he would be Colossus for us. Momanyi offers us the height advantage but I am yet to be convinced that he is the answer to our defensive short comings. He still hits a lot of the balls out of the defence to no one in particular, (he just clears the balls upfield). As for Geoffrey Ochieng, he will come good if the coaches spends time with him to weed out the errors still in his game, (i.e. switching off ) He did this during the USM Alger match and allowed the striker to sneak on his blind side to score the first goal. For a moment I thought Wellington was going to establish himself as the undisputed no. 2 but he has regressed a bit. He is still good but he needs to work on his recovery whenever he has lost possession. He should also know that as a full back, you should never allow across into your box and should always ensure that you never allow the striker to turn you inside out. You must always be in a position where you can see the striker without turning your head (infront of you) David Otieno is supremely talented, but it’s asking for too much to entrust the running of our midfield solely on his young shoulders. He needs to play alongside a more established worrior while playing away in the CUP GAMES (Champions League or CCC). In Algeria, he was overwhelmed and the coach should have reacted by withdrawing either Ambundo or B. Omondi to allow the introduction of a more defensive player. Bring on Wendo to play alongside D. Otieno or bring on Joachim Oluoch or D. Ojwang to partner Joash at the back and push Momanyi into the central midfield. By doing this you would allow L. Juma to play further up just behind Kipkirui in a 442 formation. This is a more solid and compact ystem aimed at nicking a goal or two and then defending it with your life or making it so difficult for the opponent to open you up. We may have lost this match playing this way but the margin would have been minimal. This is how you play away in big matches for a favourable result, especially against a stronger opponent. Tactically, Pollack is yet to convince me. If Jose Mourinho can set his team up to play defensively against opponents like Barcelona, Real Madrid or even Liverpool and Man City in away games with the sole aim of getting a result, then why not Pollack!!!!! Hapa, the coach failed Gor Mahia big time. In a knock out match, you must set up your team to get the best result while playing away. How do you set up your team so open and allow the opponents to run at your defenders at every opportunity!!! Ambundo and B. Omondi can be the best flying wingers in Gor for a long time but the two offers nothing defensively!!! And in an away continental match, to have these two as starters is courting disaster! Sometimes I wonder whether these coaches go for refresher courses!! S piece of advise to Pollack, ” Coach, please look for a DVD of the 2010 Champions League Semi- Final return leg match between F.C Barcelona and Internationale FC at the Nou Camp. That’s how to play against stronger opponent at their backyard!!!! Tactics are the only way out.

Bwana Wakili Rachier let me ask politely. Are this Vor stewards life employees of the great club? They cannot be fired? Why do you fear them? Why sacrifice the whole of nyanza because of 20 people you can send him with a snap of the finger without any consequences?

It has come at the right time, it’s quite disturbing and disgusting seeing some grown-ups coming to the stadium in large then flocking at the gate waiting to go in without paying or bribing their way into the stadium then when inside they bribe their way to go to the main stand then there are a million people at the gate claiming to be bouncers while their intention is to become thousandneirs within a few minutes and after the match they go share the loot which they take to the urinals in a few seconds. Let the matches be played elsewhere if that’s what will help the club raise funds.
