Reports: Michael Nam to coach on Saturday

After Frank Nuttall was sidelined by Gor Mahia officials, Michael Nam has been asked to take over as coach for Saturday’s Super Cup match against Bandari. This according to a report on futaa.com whic suggests that the club could not reach an agreement with either Frank Nuttall or Frank Ouna. Both coaches went for lenngthy periods without pay last season. Ouna at one point quit in frustration, only to come back.

According to club official Ronald Ngala, Nuttall had agreed to take a pay cut in December of last year. He agreed via e-mail correspondence. However multiple reports last season suggested that Nuttall never agreed to take a pay-cut.

“I’m unhappy with the coach’s behavior, going to public to announce we have terminated his contract yet we have not. We failed to agree on terms because his demands were too high.

“We told him in the process we don’t agree then he is free to seek employment elsewhere. In December he agreed to take a pay cut in an amount that he suggested and insisted be put in writing. Yes we agree he has done extremely well with the club but that doesn’t mean he takes advantage. You don’t dictate on your employer,” Ngala explained to Capital FM.

Nam most recently coached Talanta FC  and before that he was at Karuturi Sports club. He was recruited by Gor Mahia prior to the arrival of Bobby Williamson.

    Mo money, Mo problems.

Sportpesa deal must be dictating how much we should spend per mont and since the deal does not include payment of technical bench salaries. …The coach had to be fired.

Admin let the fans uunderstand this important facts and let’sgive options….The coach can take a pay cut and the fans set up a kitty to to top up nutall pay….

Bad decision. You fire an employee because of poor perfomance. The coach has done well and deserve a pay rise. With sportpesa sponsorship paying him should be possible. We buy a new player at 4million but want the coach to take a pay cut.Doesn’t make sense.Expect a thrashing tomorrow against Bandari who are currently very focused in their preparations.

Nam I am giving you free advice not to takeover the reigns at Gor Mahia as you will bitterly regret the consequences that will come with it. Ask Zico what happened?

Inept office has done it again. In any organization, how do you fire a performing staff and replacing him with a nonentity who has never succeeded as a coach anywhere?

    No Nuttal no DSTV match.

The happenings just shows why Ambrose Rachier failed in Gem parliamentary election due to poor management skills. Though you might have loads of money, management skills are very important in leading people and organisation.

Was the time right for firing the coach at this moment in time when the team is preparing to defend KPL, launch onslaught in CAF Champion, defend Top 8 and win DSTV Super Cup?

All these officials should be send packing for betraying the ethos of the club.

I had a sleepless night due to this poor decision. Some of us eat football, sleep football, think football and no single day can end without talking about Gor Mahia.

    Why has Rachier gutted us?

I have paid KQ for my Mombasa trip in advance but now I am cancelling the trip all together.

A country/team deserves it’s elected leaders. Am sure a lot of level-headed members could not be elected because they decided to reason instead of yelling at the top of their voices.
When Kagere needed 4m everyone was silent yet we could easily fundraise that money. When players were boycotting only the few fans were available for them.

When I read the news yesterday evening I thought I was in a reveree. This is utter nonsense. A performing staff has never been told to take a pay cut. What is the meaning of staff appraisal? We have the Elliots bread deal and gate collections (two home matches per month), which can generate enough money to pay the TB. Nam took Karuturi to relegation yet you want to hire him. Is that the reason there were rumours of Okumbi joining the TB last year. KPL talked of stamping hooliganism last week yet its chair wants to abet the vice. The EC should tell us how much they earn for us to compare notes then decide who to take a paycut.

People like Ngala, jack orowe, Kilo etc that joined Gor Mahia when poverty was their forenames are now living large courtesy of gate collections and wellwishers’ donations. When Gor won top 8 tournament in Kisumu, jack orowe and kilo ran with the trophy all the way to Homo Bay Gov. Awiti’s office begging for money which they pocketed. This is how they want to run the mighty Gor Mahia.

@Jamigori, relax. No need to pull hairs. Always try to look at the two sides of the coin. According to the EC Nuttal wants to be paid 770,00/= KES and 250K house allowance and that both parties are still negotiating. And moreover some of these things happened before SportsPesa came on board. This is a common thing between employer and employee so no need to threaten each other.

So the plot is to scuttle the Tech Bench, control it and have a say in bringing their relatives to the playing unit, with or without proved ability. It is curious that this should happen when money for players’ salaries is now available. It is either a job for their relatives or a job and playing time being given to the highest bidder. We are back to our old ways. All this is thanks to idlers in the bloated cabinet……mara Basic Assistant Organizing Secretary, mara Gross Assistant Organizing Secretary, mara Net Assistant Organizing Secretary……The only thing they organize best is how to fire a coach who in truth deserves a pay increase.

At some point the two will strike a middle ground. Even at work when some employees realizes that they are the most valuable assets they start demanding more. That is common but let’s know that the players too need better salaries. The problem with Gor is that it has no professional PR person. That task is too big for Ngala and should be outsourced or have a competent professional to handle.
This is actually a good test to see how we react with a sponsor on board. How maturely do we handle our internal problems. Those advocating for chaos yet when the players were boycotting because of salaries should think twice. We can have a peacefull protest to force the office to do what we want but how many of us can do that?

And why again immediately after securing two sponsorships… the Sportpesa and kitting from legea? AR needs to dissociate from some Company lest he loses many honours just at the final bend.

” K’Ogalo officials have opened negotiations with Scottish tactician in a bid to overturn decision to sack him on Thursday

Gor Mahia FC have bowed to pressure by fans and are now holding negotiations in a bid to bring back coach Frank Nuttall.

A close source within the club has revealed to Goal that talks between the two parties – club and the coach – are underway and a deal could be reached before close of business.

“Yes…Nuttall is supposed to travel to Mombasa for weekend match against Bandari but as we speak, our officials have been talking with his (coach) representatives to have a solution reached.”

The source added, “Nuttall is ready to sit and discuss the issue and Gor Mahia officials have also accepted because the pressure from fans is too much to handle. By the look of things the sack will be overturned and don’t be surprised to see him taking charge against Bandari on Saturday.”
