A story appearing in the Standard indicates that Gor Mahia coach Zdvarko Logarusic is fond of pursuing women including those of team players. Whereas this story may make some fans uncomfortable, it is already in the public domain so there was no point having this blog avoid the story.
One of the players was quoted saying : “Most of us now leave our girlfriends at home when going for training,” said one of the disgruntled players, who sought anonymity. He also accused the celebrated coach of intimidating footballers in front of their girlfriends.
According to the Standard
Allegations of the Croat’s colourful love life have also touched on the national volleyball team where it is said there has been tension between several players supposedly linked to him. The team’s management is said to have early this year called a meeting to resolve the personal disputes that threatened to tear the squad apart.
“Ladies love him. Maybe it is because he is a mzungu and he treats them well,” a top volleyball player told The Nairobian.
It is, however, not clear whether or not Croat plays along to the female attention. What is clear is that media personalities, tops models and dozens of female fans of the mighty Gor Mahia fans appear to be vying for the man’s attention. The coach is also usually seen in various nightspots.
There are women, who are so fixated with Zdarvko that they don branded T-shirts, pants and brassieres with his name. Take for instance top model Deliah Ipupa, who recently uploaded photos of her T-shirt branded ‘Zdarvko’, and instantly got a reply from the man himself: “What a nice name on your back!”
However, Gor Mahia secretary general George Bwana dismissed the claims and said the coach’s private life should be out of bounds.
“It’s a non-issue to the club. If people snatch each other’s girlfriends, that is a private matter that has nothing to do with us,” Bwana said.
Using Leonard Mambo Mbotelas words, I would say this “jee, huu ni ungwana?”
George Bwana should stop burrying his head in the sand. It is obvious this matter is the root cause of Gor Mahia’s lackluctre performance. Listen to the words of that player who requested anonymity. This matter is serious. I am sure even the head of state would know how best to address his security men infront of their spouses.
Gor Mahia has had Len Julians, Jack Johnson, Diego Romano, David Oti, Tim Ayieko, James Siang’a, Sir Bobby, Agido and even Zico but we never heard of such sleeze. Is Zdravko whiter than Len? Is he whiter than Tim Ayieko or Diego Romano?
It is obvious the girls are gold diggers who are attracted by the allure of money and want to buy shares in the 0.5M, but the coach should know better. Gor Mahia should not sink because of careless flings and escapades. I have said this before and I say it again: the story of prophet Nathan, King David, Uriah’s wife and Uriah the Hittite himself is not censored and very much accessible for all to learn from. Bure kabisa. Tabia mbaya.
I do not have the facts on his diliance with players ladies, but I have a simple concern, why should our players take their ladies to attend training sessions, isnt that intefering with concentration during training? Discipline on the part of our players must be paramount! Training sessions are not times to show off your ability to your ladies, please do that at your own time! Have you ever heard that Messi or Ronaldo havegone for training with their ladies? Guess not and thats what makes the difference!
Loga, is human and has his weaknesses like all of us do, if indeed he is preying on players ladies, then he must be counselled. If its the ladies preying on him coz they feelhe has money, then Loga must be protected at all costs!
the gor mahia officials should look at this matter,another issue is that why do players carry their girl friends to training grounds then they start complaining about the coach?this should stop girl friends are not coming to train and in the first place they are not gor mahia players.to the players who are fond of these should be warned to stop it playing ground is not abrothel and this why ziko was clashing with some players years back,i tell you there are some players in gor mahia who think playing in gor is their right iwant to tell them that gor mahia is not any persons property it is afoot ball club and if you dont perform you wont be exempted this also applies to the coach.
This time round we wont joke with any one starting with players to coach to the club officials once the deal with tuzo is announced coz there will be no reason for under performance.
The players players plus the coach must be serious this issue of girl friends in the training grounds we wont tolerate it and its better you leave it
as soon as possible the second leg is jst here we are keenly loooking at you ,any under performance we will require an answer and we will seek to know these girl friends victims who are going to the press.
So am I allowed to carry along my wife or girlfriend to work. Then when the Boss scolds me I get annoyed for being embarrased. Such things will happen even in the EPL. Sorry if I appear as a male chauvinist but ladies are attracted by power which the bosses have over us. All the same these thingS are better handled by a set of rules. The BIG issue is that can u set rules on matters concerning human relationship? On another note do u blame ur rival if ur girl or boyfriend defects?
Barefoot, the ball stops with players. Why do you carry your girlfriend to the training ground? It is wrong for players to be accompanied by their girl friends or wives to the training ground. Yes they can have girl friends and wives during matches both home and away but it is vice to have your wives or girlfriend to the training. Even we fans can be easily tempted to commit the vice.
However it would be wrong for the coach to victimize playersp whose girl friends have fallen into passion with him. As a figure-head or father – head, the coach should look for far and wide to establish good relationships. The coach should not snatch players’ wife nor girl friends.
Guys, this is a serious matter that we should not hurry with when giving comments. Is there any clear evidence to prove all these allegations? I have read this ‘sweet’ story and i find no proof. Is this a calculated move to tarnish the name of Gor? Be careful with such stories.
Bwana and the EC should not bury their head in the sand. There must be proper investigations. We cannot loose a chance to win the league again because players are demoralized.
Again I dont know what is true. All I know is that the issue must be investigated to ensure it is not affecting performance.

I tend to disagree with some issues here,first u all need to be realistic,loga is a man and have feelings incase the story is true and anyway case do u mean if I wear a jersey with name of the coach or a player it will mean that there is something or I have feelings ? Please let’s be serious kidogo.on the issue of players taking their girlfriends and I mean girlfriends to their training grounds it means that the girlfriend is not busy period and for her to have something with the coach will be mutual consent something,sorry to say that and wht would u expect from the girl? Guys what if this is the work of Loga’s and Gor enemies. let’s all remember that he has beef with the Amrouche as well as Lucy Emayel. What could be a better strategy that getting him embrollied in off-hte-field issues?
I also learnt from SS that Loga is the most qualified coach in Kenya with a EUFA Pro Licence.
All the same some of these things will always happen, though unfortunate. I have friends who come to the Gor matches just because of the beatifull divas. What would happen if such a guy ‘tuned’ one who happens to be a players or official’s Girlfriend.
All the same let the chair clear the issue and let us know that it’s been solved or is non-existent
I dont blame the “spin doc” Loga nor the players, All the three are mature adults who can make decisions on their own..If your girl is among them then she’s the problem…Meaning she really doesnt love you or just not into you. Accept and move on n let Loga make use of his strength(strong holds). So so cheap of some ladies!
To me all these are petty. What the players could be saying indirectly is that Logarusic doesn’t attend trainings but stays with their girl-friends which to me is practically impossible.
This is Kenya’s biggest club and will always be biggest in everything including rumours. What we need are performance contracts when the EC signs deals with the sponsor, technical bench and players.
Dan, i think Osborne Monday is a great player, but as the Bandit has said previously, we tend to buy guys being slowed down by injury. Take a look at his performance in the not too far past and you will notice that he must be having an injury issue.
My suggestion is that we don’t need any more players this break. Let Rama, Kevo, Odhis, Mutiso and Kiongera be our attacking midfielders. Serenkuma and Lavatsa can strike. Our forwards according to me are the best. If we must add then it should be Bageya of City Stars. Ingwe dumped him and are still wondering what happened to their attack. Baraza became a shadow of himself once Bageya left. I call him ‘Suarez’.

Players should know better that this is the job they have at hand to pay their bills. This excitement is unnecessary and no success can be achieved by such behaviours by both the coach and players.
Loga be aware that leadership calls on character. You should be a father figure to these young talents or else you will Kenya with nothing to celebrate about. Keep private affairs private and this is my advise to the club and anyone who cares to listen.

Is this true or a mere warfare from the other side? Let Loga be!!! He is an adult of sound mind and will speak for himself on this matter.Kwani who doesn’t love good life, and in Kogalo that is in plenty. I do not think he can have 25 or so of them at the same time anyway.
In any case who allows players to bring their girlfriends to training? Suppose we were to bring our girlfriends to our work places, would our bosses allow that? No wonder there is usually little concentration during matches probably after suffering distractions during training.

These rumours have been there, i came to hear about them in duting the 1st top 8 final against Tursker. But Loga must know that the same rod they’ve used against Ali and his colleagues is the same that awaits them’ performance’,
That is not to mean i’m crying for the sacked players but people must know they’re at work hence whatever distracts you from top performance must be discarded in order to survive.
Money can buy certs and such others but performance, intelligence and diligence are not on sale at any price!

What kind of primitive world are some of the commentators living? The likes of michael odhiambo ogolo and other takatakas. This coach should go. It is onething to be a womaniser but to serially pounce on the girlfriends of your players is a no no no. In a more civilized society like the West or USA, this coach would have long been gone. No one is indispensable, coaches will come and go, players will come and go BUT Gor Mahia will live forever. The coach went on a holiday, overstayed and started to blackmail the executive. Who is he? Does he think that he is irreplaceable? And why are we bending this low to this dude? I say let him take his womanising services elsewhere.
