Players celebrate after winning the most recent Supercup

As both Gor Mahia and Kariobangi Sharks prepare for their continental ties, they will face each other on December 2 in the 2018 season Super Cup.

“The KPL Super Cup pitting Gor Mahia and Kariobangi Sharks will be played at MISC Kasarani,” KPL announced the latest changes on Thursday.

Gor Mahia are the defending champions and have won the Super Cup two times in a row having beaten Tusker in the 2016 season edition and beating AFC in the 2017 season edition. They will be looking to make it three in a row.

They will have to defend their title without reliable talisman Jacque Tuyisenge who limped off the pitch against Bullets on Wednesday.

“I hope it (the injury) is nothing serious and we can have him available for us in Blantyre,” coach Zico spoke of his most lethal player after the match.

It was Tuyisenge who scored the winner against Tusker in the 2016 season edition of the Supercup.

  • ODHIS muga says:

December 2 will be Sunday not Friday. Tuyisenge is nowadays so prone to injury like wanyama, quick recovery.

  • Jasego says:

Let’s meet on Sunday December 2nd at MISC Kasarani to re-affirm our status to the country as the “Reigning Supremas” in Kenyan Football to all those who might have thought struggling agains’t Nyasa is a sign of our decline. Ephrem Guikan will lead the frontline in Tuyisenge’s absence. Also with Muguna still not being 100% match fit and Kahata unavailable i want to propose Boniface Omondi take up the free role and be our playmaker. He did this agains’t ingwe in the league second leg and it is a role his speed and dribbling skills can execute very well. All we need is to teach him is anticipation of releasing crucial final passes to the centre forwards and we are good to go…

  • Ja Thur gi ji says:

No, let’s not play this match if the return leg in Malawi is on 4th, only two days away. Why should we Jasego am surprised you are supporting this?

    • Dan Original says:

Ja Thurgi ji, this was already in the plan. Even teams which played Europa on Thursday will be playing over the weekend. We are now in the international calendar. Moreover the two teams agreed to have it on Sunday as opposed to earlier date of Saturday. We still have match fitness issues and this is what we need for some of our players

    • Jasego says:

JTGJ we have a big squad and only 17 players will travel to Malawi for the return leg. Most of our squad lacks match fitness and this will be a good prep for them going into the malawi game. The game is on 5th Dec and meaning even if we give the first 11 game time they will recover well in 72 hours time with more play time under their belt to sharpen their instincts. Finally KPL starts on 8th Dec and we jet back on 6th meaning the curtain raiser Must be played this weekend…

    more to follow……

    • Musymo says:

I have an unexplained distrust of Brazilian and Eastern European coaches. On the other hand, English coaches have over time delivered. I vouch for this Calum Shaun and I pray he gets the nod.

  • George says:

Is this match going to be aired live?

  • Jasego says:

    Zlatko Krmpotic sojourn in Caf
    1. Winner of African Champions League CAF in 2015-2016 with Tout Puissant Mazembe (TP Mazembe)
    2. Semi-Finalist of the African Champions League CAF in 2016-2017 with Zesco United of Zambia
N/B-If consideration is African experience in Coaching he has…If it is English Language he speaks basic well…Affordability we can bargain and Finally on Honors je has conquered Africa ar Club Level which is what we aspire to do as Mighty Mayienga

@Musymo Calum Shaun is also fine we have excelled under the British Gaffers…

There is also Coach Jamie Day an Englishman currently handling the Bangladesh National Team and could replace Kerr very well and pick us from where he left…

  • Dan Original says:

As we look for a coach can our PR official (assuming we have one) get to do some damage control.Alot of negative publicity on Kerr’s living conditions is being spread on the public domain. The effect of this is not good for the Brand name. The unfortunate thing is that one of our own EC member is the propogator of this info. Is such a person fit to be in that office? in as much as the EC members keep fighting amongst themselves there is a boundary which they should not pass. Just heard Ingwe officials saying that the clamour for Sportpesa to directly pay the players is because of a certain club. Of course we all know which that club that is

    • Jasego says:

@Dan…I saw an article with Coach Kerr sitting by the roadside vibandas i think around yaya centre with another white colleague eating matumbo or chapati wearing blue shorts and our jersey. The article then goes ahead to chronicle his poor living conditions including swimming as a replacement to bathing and lacking bus fare hence jogging from kileleshwa to camp toyoyo to train the team. We had a Toyota Landcruiser V8 reserved for GM Head Coach & his family with a designated driver that Frank Nuttal and Ze Maria used so where did ut disappear to? The negativity we are attracting as a brand is hitting dangerous proportions and needs fire fighting through a vibrant positivity campaign…

      • Dan Original says:

Jasego, too bad I have seen our top country leaders eating in a kiosk. Were they broke? How do you fill your swimming pool with water when you have none for bathing? From Kileleshwa to Camp Toyoyo can be over 20 kms. Jogging from there then training for a 50+ year old is asking for too much. Living in Kileleshwa, an upmarket joint, but not being able to pay for water or electricity is strange? Why not move to a modest place in Parklands? This is the time for the EC leadership to be felt. I know now they are more concerned with the upcoming trip
The unfortunate thing is that one EC member things that by fighting the others in the press they are helping the team when infact they are scaring away potential sponsors. Next time if possible we subject potential office bearers to IQ and/or apptitude tests

        • Jasego says:

Another thing…We are now crying with begging bowls asunder saying we need 7 Million for each continental fixture. Soon before wednesday expect the usual GM players might not travel for lack of air tickets. My Questiom then becomes is Kariobangi Sharks richer than GM?They will travel without any hullabaloo so does it mean they have better sponsors or what?Bloggers help me understand our poverty uniqueness in Kenya here?

  • Joe Riaga says:

Kogalo attack needs Jacques. Wishing him a swift recovery

  • Charles says:

Creative mind is crucial for our goals to be achieved.

    Just Breaking….

Farewell Karim.Burundi Captain Karim Nizigiyimana has part ways with GOR MAHIA after 4 years.

Good luck brother in your next life adventure !

  • oswozo moziek says:

sad to see Karim go but happy to hear that the club actually bought him a house in Burundi.

So it’s not all doom and gloom in Gor.

All the best Karim…you did us proud!!

  • Dan Original says:

The issue of Karim is sad but with the quota of 5 foreigners exceeded it was a hard decision. We had Mustafa or Guikan to sacrifice and also the fact that those still had running contracts we risked being sued. Wr wish him the best and thanks for the services delivered
