Trophy presentation moved to Kisumu

The 2018 Kenya Premier League will now be formally presented to Gor Mahia in Kisumu. The event will be held on September 30th during the match against Mathare United. This according to the club’s organizing secretary Judith Nyangi.

“Gor Vs Mathare match has been moved to Moi Stadium Kisumu on Sunday 30/09/2018 at 2pm. Early kick off has been decided upon to allow for enough time for trophy presentation.” said Nyangi on her social media pages.

The trophy presentation had earlier been planned for Machakos, much to the chagrin of many fans and even coach Dylan Kerr spoke out against that plan.

“The club’s majority of fans, since I have been at Gor Mahia, have come out in force in Kisumu,” Kerr told Goal in an interview. So as a football fan, this is where it should be held to thank them for the amazing support, but again that is in no way being disrespectful to all our fans all over Kenya.” said Kerr

Much like Len Julians did 35 years ago, Kerr has marveled at the passion of Kisumu based fans.

“And when we have games outside of Kisumu, many of our fans from Kisumu travel to support us be it Nairobi, Nakuru, Narok or even Machakos.” he concluded.

Gor Mahia and others chasing Abdallah Hassan

Bandari attacker, Abdallah Hassan told ESPN that Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Tusker have all approached him.

“There’s interest from other clubs,” the forward said after Bandari’s league game against Zoo Kericho this weekend. “Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Tusker have all contacted me over a transfer. This makes me happy because it means that I have been performing well.”

Hassan has been a revelation this season, and even caught the eye of national team coach Sebastian Migne, culminating in his national team debut against Malawi last week. There he was credited with the assist that led to Kahata’s goal, following a cross from Eric Ouma.

Hassan is committed to Bandari for now.

“My dream is to play in Europe,” he continued. “I wouldn’t want to join another local club.

“Bandari has helped shape my career and I wouldn’t play against Bandari in the Kenyan Premier League,’ he continued. “For now, I am a Bandari player and I am committed to the club, we will see what happens at the end of the season.” he concluded.

In 2014, Kogalo obtained the services of another high profile Bandari player in Shaban Kenga. He played for six months on loan before being recalled by Bandari.

Kerr Mugged on Saturday

Additional reporting from the Standard.

Love for selfies and an open arm for all left Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr nursing bruises after the Briton fell prey to daring Nairobi thugs last weekend.

Kerr, who was in the company of friends, including a young lady, was attacked after leaving a club along Ngong Road. The attack came moments after he had watched the international boxing match between Kenyan Fatuma Zarika and Mexican pugilist Yamileth Marcado last Saturday.
Kerr said the security guys at the club did not help them, and instead demanded money to help them get back their phones [Courtesy]

According to Kerr, who was forced into a temporary ‘blackout’ after he lost two expensive mobile phones, including an iPhone in the incident, a group of youth tricked him with a selfie request before descending on him and his friends.

“This is the first time in Kenya that I have been attacked and lost a phone. I don’t deny people selfies even if it is a 1,000 times. I wonder why someone would go into all that trouble for an old Blackberry phone,” Kerr told The Nairobian. The coach said they were forced to rush one of his friends to hospital after he was injured.

Kerr said the security guys at the club did not help them, and instead demanded money to help them get back their phones.

“I reported the matter to the security officer at the club, but they asked for money, so I never even bothered to proceed to the police (station) to make a report,”

But the club condemned the incident and distanced themselves from any blame saying the incident took place outside the club. “Our security officers are responsible and have always handled any incident professionally, but if any of their staff are found to have colluded with the attackers, disciplinary measures will be taken against them,” said the customer care official at the club.

The event has apparently not dampened Kerr’s enthusiasm for roaming the streets of Nairobi has he spoke about walking from Kileleshawa to Camp Toyoyo while taking selfies with fans along the way.

Have you reported to EC and Rachier. I think they should know and also appreciate that if they do not pay players, they really expose the players. The players live in more challenging environment

Now Kerr can attest what it means to live in Nairobi.

Your players sometime cry to be paid allowance and no one cares to listen. They are trying to earn a decent living from football. Please fight for your players.

    Now the POLE comes.

Abdalla Hassan statistics are very clear and Never lie. How many players have moved from Bandari FC to Europe which ibayo dhogii ati you cant play for any other local club other than bandari? K’ogalo offers a sure stepping stone to securing a pro move out of Kenya but already little fame is entering your medula oblongata and you are talking recklessly. @Jasego, have you ever heard of Bandari players boycotting training because they were not paid. From the curr3nt on-goings at Gor I think Bandari is a netter option for any player with a family to feed. I see Gor and Ingwe struggling next year and Bandari might be the champs

Gor Mahia players skip training as officials avoid calls

    Goal Kenya.
K’Ogalo players were expected to turn up at Camp Toyoyo Grounds on Tuesday

Gor Mahia players once again skipped training on Tuesday as they continue with their protest over unpaid August salaries.

K’Ogalo players were expected to turn up at Camp Toyoyo Grounds on Tuesday at 3.00PM, but Goal has learnt that things did not go as planned.

“We are not happy with the management for what it is doing to us; before facing Thika, we were promised our salaries by Sunday. On the material day, it was postponed for one day but on Monday none of the officials was answering our calls.

“We cannot go to train on empty stomachs, the management is playing games on us and we cannot allow it. It is either they pay us or we remain at home.”

This comes hours before the premier league match against Ulinzi Stars at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Wednesday.

This idiot called Rachier has become a disgrace to Gor mahia. Why can’t he pay players? Where is Walu’s 12 m? Where is Sportpesa sponsorship money? Has Gor stopped getting money from home matches? Surely, some people deserve the kind of death that befell Sharon otieno! We are tired of these stories about player boycotts.

We are tired of hearing player boycott all the time, let them not even play against ulinzi unless paid. The EC led by Rachier is just rotten, filthy and stinking shit.

Why are you blaming AR? Aren’t the salaries paid directly by sportpesa as per contract ?

I say once more, the day we were bundled out of CAF and shield cup is the day everything fell apart. Kerr has lost it and his time is quickly running out ! Let him leave in peace .

Kerr has got nothing to do with players allowances and salaries. Sporpesa wires a wholesum amount as stipulated for the EC to work with. This makelele ya kerr, Kerr all the time uwache or you want to bring your villager to be the next Coach????

Jakoyo stop joking with our heads bwana. Which salaries are paid directly by Sportpesa to players as per contract?Sportpesa has a running contract with GM football club which it sponsors and in turn GM has a contract with players which it pays with sponsorship money. The corruption is that AR your corrupt demigod redirects Sportpesa Sponsorship money lumpsome from GM Club Account at National Bank to his Rachier & Advocates business A/C Prime Bank where it is used to further his personal business interests and brought back monthly in terms of profits he has gotten to pay Players,TB and EC. Problem is when his business stalls then spiral effect is GM grinds to a screeching halt where only gate collections and politicians goodwill secho donations can run the club. Why is ingwe not having the same predicament while sponsor is the same despite their package being 20 Million less than our yearly?

@Jasego, The goings-on make me so mad, I may say some very nasty words not befitting this forum so I just boil inside. This EC has learnt that there is nothing we can do so they will continue looting and running down this honourable club. How I wish for the people’s power that once taught G. Bwana a lesson at Kasarani, the anger that brought order after the debacle in Karuturi……instead of fighting for the right causes our fans only know how to damage our image further with acts like throwing projectiles on to the pitch inviting sanctions from CAF in the process. Why are we not having money to pay players? There is Sportpesa sponsorship, the derby collected close to 4m, Walusimbi was sold for close to 12m….where did all these monies go?

Jasengo, the allegations you are making here are serious. Do you know that if they are false, AR can take you to court for defaming his character as well as his company? Dont think that you are hiding behind that screen and they cant catch you. Chunga kabisa.

I hope it’s just a rumour that Kerr is not interested in signing Kenneth Muguna back to the team as much as he left the club he did it in a good way not like Walusimbi and Musa and therefore if it’s true then the coach should rethink before making that decision for Abdallah he is still young and has along way to go therefore should stop throwing his mouth and to Kerr he should be very careful about some of those outings he’ll end up losing his reputation. @jasego, that observation is NOT factual infact news just breaking elsewhere is that Trouble is looming at AFC Leopards after the playing unit issued a five- day ultimatum to the national executive committee to pay their allowances in full failure to which they will not honour the FKF-Shield semi final match against Sofapaka set for Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. The players, say allowances have not been paid for the last 9 games.

My understanding is that and i still insist the issue is a logistical problem from sportpesa side and i trust it shall be sorted as quickly as possible before the damage is done.

Logistical my foot! Do they need SGR to wire money into Goes account?? @jakoyo, their is walusimbis transfer money??? Where is it??their is the initial 8Million from CAF??? Where is it???? For your information, Sportpesa pays its contracts on time. You sound as if you are drumming for someone.
