Uganda tour canceled, Gor Mahia to Power Dynamos again

The planned tour of Uganda which was to serve as a build-up tour for the Africa Champions League has been canceled as confirmed by club official Ronald Ngala.

We are not financially stable. “We had planned to go to Uganda because we hoped to get some funds but we have not until now so we have no option but to stay around. Maybe the other option could have been to invite them here but they too are in a position similar to ours so they are not able to travel Nairobi.” said Ngala to goal.com

This sudden turn of events calls into question a number of things. Ngala now says the club is not financially stable yet they have recently spent significantly on several players from overseas, some of whom were signed without trials or medicals. Also the club has of late not been pushing the 35010 MPESA project or membership, leaving some fans to believe that the club has another income source or was anticipating an income source. It also leaves fans wondering if Gor Mahia has set aside funds to host CNaPs of Madagascar in two weeks time. One would hope that they were not basing it on anticipated revenue streams that they have now realized will not materialize.

 Rematch with Power Dynamos

Instead, Gor Mahia will play Power Dynamos of Zambia again according to Ronald Ngala.

“We are finalizing preparations as we want to play Dynamos again on Saturday, out first match was an eye opener and we want to play  them again as part of our preparations for the new season” said Ngala to futaa.com

Its an immediate opportunity for the club to assuage fan fears and for some of the players who put on a listless display against the Zambians last weekend to redeem themselves. Its also an opportunity for fans to see if Nuttall can correct the errors committed by players last weekend.

@Dan Kisumu, I was also wondering about that. The only consolation is that in the Gor list the two players are there. But let’s wait and see

GOR FAN TO SERVE SIX MONTHS JAIL

Boaz Okello will serve a jail term after he allegedly assaulted a security officer manning a gate during Gor Mahia v Power Dynamos friendly

Football hooliganism suffered a major blow on Tuesday after Boaz Okello, a Gor Mahia supporter, was sentenced to serve six-months in prison for assaulting a security officer, who was manning a gate at Nyayo Stadium last Sunday.

Senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi convicted the accused after he pleaded guilty of the offence, magistrate saying the vice was on increase in the country and the sentence was necessary because the accused was not remorseful.

“I therefore, sentence him to serve six months without option of a fine to serve as a lesson to those who may intend to commit similar offences,” said the judge.

In his submissions, Okello admitted that he on January 1, 2015, assaulted the complainant — Benjamin Opiyo — by hitting him with a metal bar on his forehead for refusing him entry into stadium. The incident happened on Sunday during international friendly match between Gor Mahia and Power Dynamos of Zambia.

The court was told that the accused was in the company of other individuals, who had planned to force their way into the stadium to cheer K’Ogalo without match tickets

That’s the way to go until we retain only those who are interested in watching football and have gor at heart. Kudos to the magistrate, police and the stewards.

@COMPRESSOR, fyi under AR we won the league twice in a row after 18 years. We also eon the current Gotv twice in a row. We also got a sponsor after a long time though we have none now. You cannot take those away however hard you try. The thing is that there is alot his team could have done to move the team forward. As fans there is also a lot we could have done and the first is to portray a good image of the club outside there. I think we failed on that even if we say that this is only a handful of fans.

Dan original, i support you,Lets give credit where it is due. AR has steered Kogalo to great height.Lets support him instead of criticising every time the team loses even when its a friendly match.people must also realise that AR and his team have managed to win trouphies without sponsers, and managed the players, few teams can do that
Kudos AR keep the good work
