Ze Maria outlines transfer plans

Gor Mahia coach Coach Ze Maria has indicated that the team will recruit two defenders, one midfielder and one striker so as to create a stable team for the second leg. This according to a report on goal.com

Our coach has identified weak points and presented to us areas where he feels should be reinforced. He needs to sign one fullback who can play in both sides, one central defender, one offensive midfielder and one striker. That’s what we are going to do as a club,” said Rachier to goal

Chairman Ambrose Rachier indicated that the team will likely sign only local players since the foreign player quota has been exhausted. This likely means that repports that Gor Mahia was about to sign Brazilian playmaker Pierra da Silva are unlikely to materialize and neither is the signing of Meddie Kagere.

“We will definitely sign local players because our foreign-player tray is already full. The talks between us and Meddie Kagere are also underway and all will be known if any case we will sign him.” said Rachier

On Khalid Aucho, Rachier says the club has indeed received a letter from Glasgow Rangers. Talks are ongoing between Aucho and the club. Aucho’s exit could pave the way for Kagere.

Ze Maria has also made it clear that he wants promising full back Marcelo Ouma to remain at the club.

“I have talked to the club, they know what I want and I have let them know I want Eric to remain with us. He is a very good player with a bright future and I would not want to lose his services before the season ends,” ‘Ze Maria’ told Capital Sport.

Western Stima winger Baron Oketch Jobita who has been impressive this season is set to join the club after having completed talks. The youthful Oketch is the son of Laban Jobita, the western Stima team manager and also a former Gor Mahia player from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Other players reported to be on Gor Mahia’s radar include Humphrey Mieno and Eric Johanna. Mathare are said to have set a steep price tag on Johanna as is typical of Bob Munro.

  • While I have been reminded several times that the technical bench knows what is best and I should never question their decisions, kindly allow me to opine on the intended transfer business. Why would we need to sign another fullback yet Luke and Calabar Junior are there? I consider them quality players but it seems the technical bench knows best. As for central defence I have heard we want to sign Asike and may be release Saleh back to Ingwe. What informs this decision? Saleh has been fielded only once(is this enough time to gauge his suitability) and played quite well while Asike as we all know is the king of defensive errors!!! if Saleh could not bench Shakava and Musa why would whoever is doing this think Asike is going to do that? So we sign Asike have him warm the bench and release him in January as he will be demanding playing time(same case with Saleh). I wish the TB and EC beefed the midfield more. Should Aucho leave as rumoured we will be laid bare. Wendo is okay but is more a squad player than a consistent quality midfielder. Eric Ochieng was fielded once this season and it was the fans who demanded his substitution after a very erratic display and applauded when he was finally hauled off. Ogada signed from Agro has never made the match day squad and may be released( makes you wonder why he was signed in the first place). Gatusso is brilliant most days but has never been the same since his reported altercation with Ze Maria that saw him frozen from the team for a while. That leaves only Kahata and Gatusso still as the only top class midfielders and I don’t know if their combination will be balanced enough to give us defensive solidity. We should also go for two strikers instead of one since Tuyisenge may succumb to injury again(God forbid) and that may just leave us short with only one other quality striker. @Ja Asego uko wapi?

@Musymo I truly empathize with you. I believe your argument is very pregnant with substance, however as for Jackson Saleh, if his heart is not in Gor Mahia and therefore he wants out back to Efusi I would rather we let him go. I agree that Luke Ochieng’ and Bernard Odhiambo are just adequate and as Jakoyo rightly puts it, attention should focus on the attacking midfield and striking departments where Passenger 27 honestly needs to be replaced.

We are where we are right now because of a very bad start and that bad start is attributable purely to ineffective recruitment after the 2015 season. That ineffective recruitment affected the striking force more than any other department. Let us not squander this opportunity to make amends.

  • Am not a coach..but not sure whether we need defenders . if I was the coach, I would suggest we just need two players- a 20 goal per season striker and an offensive midfielder with good dribbling and set piece qualities.

  • @Musyo and @Jakoyo you are not coaches but bloggers. I think your posting are just your personal opinions and comments. Let the coach do his work as he will be appraised on his achievement at the end of the season. Our core roles as the fans and bloggers is to support the team and enjoy good football.

I honestly think the coach is not in charge,it is a case of a friend bringing a friends son.jobita jst like omino am sure will be a flop.if I were Bernard I wuld ask for a move to tusker,or posts,Kigali is wasting his talent,he is beta than shakava, musa.I thot our signings wuld make us runway with the title,Bt it seems like we are going to struggle, juu ya ubeste.ogada, murai, ochi, keli, agwanda, omino, saleh ,bena have all been unable to impresss except for bena,

  • Benard Odhiambo is a good player and we cant afford to offload him he played a vital role in sony much and am sure he can play much football than the current occupier

  • As always is the case. I think that the technical bench spend a lot of time with these players. They know a lot about them. They must have looked at what they have vs where they want to go. Ze Maria had indicated earlier that he was looking for a tall striker who would partner Tuyisenge. May these are the things they are considering. I think also that Ze Maria is building his philosophy and knows who can and who can not fit in it. Other wise l believe the TB means well.

We always castigate the EC at every recruitment but they later on prove as wrong. Recruting a player is like buying a used car. You never know what surprises it will spring up. I remember Olunga was considered not good enough for Gor. Remember the team from Zim walloping us 3-0 and Olunga missing a penalty, Kagere was considered a spent force after ‘flopping’ in Albania and Tunisia, Bonnie was considered a bench warmer from Tusker, JaUsenge was considered a medical case and now Marcelo was considered like an academy/Gor youth material. In other words let’s not stop criticizing even when we don’t have all the facts, it’s our right. But at long last the buck stops with the EC and TB and I believe none of them wants to flop

Dear Brothers, lets try and get our facts right before we share our observation and coments with fellow bloggers, by sharing surname’s does not mean that we are brothers, cousins, sons or fathers to one another, i can say without fear or favour, BARON OKETCH is not LABAN JOBITA’S son, take a walk to Kisumu and verify that, the young lad has earned his respect by terorizing defender day in day out and deserves to be left alone, dragging Laban’s name in his possible move to K’Ogallo is very unfair. We can only pray and wish Baron the best at Gor

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia have completed the signing of Western Stima winger Baron Oketch Jobita on a three-year deal, club Secretary General Ronald Ngala has confirmed.

Baron was a target of several Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clubs including Tusker and AFC Leopards but the winger has opted to join the reigning KPL champions until June 2019.

    Baron signs

-Baron is now our player; the coach wanted more attacking options and recommended him to the management, he is a good young player who we believe will be an asset to the team. He has joined us on a three-year deal, Ngala told Futaa.com.

Oketch, a former Kakamega High School student came through Stima’s youth team before breaking to the senior team in 2014. He was part of Western Stima’s KPL under 19 winning team in 2013 and joins his former Stima under 19 teammate, Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma at Gor.ni hayo yu kwa sasa

  • @ Musymo and everyone else, here are the real time updates as per now, forget some website updates full of factual errors. We wanted as per Ze Maria’s instructions to sign 5 players in Messrs-Erick Johanna,Humphrey Mieno, Wellington Ochieng, Paul Were and Brazilian Playmaker Pierra Da Silva. So far as regards the foreigner due to Pierra agent and better opportunities opening up in Portugal League he declined the offer and we without undue delay settled for another Brazilian Striker in Thiaggo Silva Da Lima who is supposed to touch down anytime from today.Munroe is proving difficult in selling us Johanna who is dying to join GM while Tusker has declined to open talks whatsoever on a possible Mieno move citing the undue advantage it would give K’ogalo getting their most dependable player as they believe they are title contenders.Wellington Ochieng we are negotiating and soon we will seal his deal,Baron Oketch signed 3 years while Paul Were said he is angling for a move to Europe but incase it doesn’t materialize he will sign for Gor Mahia. As for Meddie Kagere should Khalid Aucho leave for Scotland, the decision will be between him and another world class holding midfielder, who does K’ogalo need most…I leave the debate to you good bloggers

I don’t know what is what now…………….”Brazilian striker Thiago Lima Dasilva is expected in Nairobi on Friday 3 to complete a record breaking move to Gor Mahia.

Lima is believed to have been recommended to the 15-times Kenyan champions by their Brazilian Coach Ze Maria.

He (Ze Maria) is rumoured to have flown back home (Brazil) after the end of Sportpesa Premier League first leg to persue the highly rated goal poacher.

If the deal becomes a success, Lima will be huge boost to K’Ogalo’s overburdened foward line which relies heavily on Rwandan Jacques Tuyisenge for goals. He will also become the first Brazilian to grace the Kenyan top league.

Gor have already ropped in Baron Oketch on three years contract from Western Stima.

…………This is the reason why I believe it is safer for me to just put my eyes and settle for the final pick on July 2. However I wish Passenger 27 could be considered for release.
