Coach Jack Johnson had just quit right before this match, leaving Gor Mahia without a coach. Gor Mahia played poorly in the opening leg, hardly creating any chances. Oilers celebrated after holding Gor Mahia to a scoreless draw in Nairobi . National team coach Mohamed Kheri was seconded to Gor Mahia to help in the return leg. LPRC Oilers celebrations turned out to be immature as Kogalo turned the tables in Monrovia.  Peter Dawo scored twice.
