Logarusic rues absences

The absence of Paul Mungai Kiongera and Rama Salim, both of whom are nursing injuries, is becoming a reason of concern for Gor Mahia’s head Coach Zdravko Logarusic.

The tactician believes the duo would have helped the team to a better performance in their Sunday league clash against Mathare United. Gor Mahia won the match 1-0 after Dani Sserunkuma netted a 56th minute penalty.

“I am impressed with our performance in the match but I must say that the absence of our key players Rama and Kiongera has had an impact on our strength,” said Logarusic.

“I know many people may say we are using the absence of the two as a scapegoat given our low-key start to the season but Rama and Kiongera were among the top three players in the league last season. Their absence definitely has an impact on the team.”

Logarusic, however, promised to keep working around the disadvantage and register more impressive results in upcoming matches.

“We have young players in the team who now get playing chances and with a good strategy in place, we should be on our best performance in coming days,” he added.

Gor, who have only played three matches since the season started, are currently ranked 10th in the league.

The Sunday performance against Mathere United was good. I presume we have between 25 to 29 players in our camp (not so sure of the actual number). If we are not utilizing about 7 players then we need to off-load all of them during next transfer period; we should not be worried of the injuries since we have more than enough players, not unless we only have 11 good players.

The big question remains – at this rate can we score more than 3 goals against ENNPI? The answer is yes and no depending on the lineup. I know we have enough defenders so what Logarusic needs to do is to utilize Anguyo slightly in frontof defenders as a defensive midfield but not a free role that I’ve witnessed being given to him.

Pablo, Viera, Kevo can as well play behind the strikers (attacking midfield)…the advantage we have is that Kevo14 can still play in the flanks. Nevertheless, the technical bench and the coach know better; what we want are good results.

The absence of Kiongera and Rama should not be used as a reason for our non-performance in front of goal.We have played matches in the past with both players on the pitch and the results have not been anything to write home about.
The reason we are called a team is so that everyone who is called upon to put in a shift should perform regardless of the situation. Therefore as fans and stakeholders,we expect results at the end of the day…thats the job they wake up to do daily. Our expectation is that they should deliver and even if they lose..which under certain circumstances will happen, let them put up a good fight for that green jersey!!

  • the coach is becoming an excuse basket abit too fast. the kind of soccer that gor is playing is not and can not be just because two guys were not playing. i begin to wonder how many players are in the gor stable. why is KCB hammering teams 6 0 without kiongera. sawa gor got the three points, but at this rate the africa expedition is a waste of money gor would have used somewhere else. so is logar going to hammer the egyptians 4 0? there is playing for points but it cannot be the modus operandi… what is now very clear is that gor has some very mature players eg akumu, the ugandans, owino, wekesa. but it also has children pretending to be strikers with one major culprit in mind. for now i will let pass but coach, pls give me a reason to want to sleep in the stadia. so let me also quote @2: “we have played matches in the past with both players and ….”. who are these players earning free money at gor and who brought them to gor? logar, you had the clout to reject waiganjo !!!

  • The worst signal the Log is showing to other players, that they can’t perfom withou 2. Again that’s putting alot of pressure to the two. Kenyan footballers can’t and will never perfom when under pressure.may the Log is coming out of ideas. For those who have been praying for my belved Ingwe, thank you and God bless you,i’m sure you realized when Ingwe and Gor are on form, kenyan league becomes sweet and interesting, and if one is down it affects the other as currently evidently. Us Afc Leopards Now that Olaba is gone and we have Zalkor Markov, Serbian we thank God and hope that is gona be well at our den.

I think we should leave the coach alone to do his work and give him time. He knows who should play at which march and at what time acording to his game plan. Even though it is healthy to give comments and views but it is not proper to demand reasons from the coach why he does something. I don’t know how many coaches gor have.

Ooh Laa la!! “KEEP OFF ZDRAVKO LOGARUSIC GUYS”

@ 5 George Ochoro am also perplexed by some of the comments from K’ogalo bloggers. As Gor Mahia bloggers we talk too much beyond our limits and please Ma-Bloggers some issue are more like an update on the teams status and preparedness looking at strengths and weakness and we need not to react like Logarusic is excusing himself.

How ever much you dislike his statements but that is the “NAKED TRUTH” and we need to keep off his job.

K’Ogalo has so many coaches in this blog. At times when i visit this site i fail to internalize the comments herein posted when i reflect back on the lead story above.

It is the coach who spends time with the players and as such he understands them better as far as their training needs are assessed during practicing session based on their attitudes, response to instructions and fitness level.

Just like our “Noisy Neighbors” accepting that their failure to lure “RVP” might be the reason why they will fail to retain the Barclays Premier League and have left the “DEVILS” as run away leaders, the same case might apply with us locally and be the story with K’Ogalo if our players can click and rise to the occasion and especially KIONGERA. And i concur with the coach on that very statement since he is one of the best local strikers.

Logarusic has preference in the likes of KIONGERA, SSEREKUMA ,RAMA ,KEVO ,LAVATSA, DUBE, AKUMU,PABLO and aBONDO , but so is any coach world wide. And that is what they are employed to do as part of their job.He is the one mandated to identify the teams strength and weakness ,besides issuing briefs as head of the Technical bench and ours to digest and take stock, PERIOD!!!

Does anyone know if Tuzo is still Kogalo’s sponsor? If I am uhuru then this is the time to extend the contract with a more lucrative offer, and even attend some Kogalo matches.

I appeal to all of us that things are not too bad. Flash back to exactly a year ago. Where were we as a team? Look at the photo above and you will surely agree with me that our current defense is one of the best we have had for many seasons. Let me not say much because that photo speaks volumes about the strides we have made. Our current squad is one of the best. It is just a matter of time…

Now that Efusi have acquired a Serbian let us hold our breathes for sparks in the TPL. I pray very hard that I don’t live to witness the old Serbian-Croat rivalry being imported into our local soccer. One thing I know is we shall see another totally new edition of the Log.

Tuzo or no Tuzo we must plan for the future we used to play without a sponsor but we can not beg your so called ohuru to xtend the contract and make it lucrative infact its us who is doing the marketing part of it for them, what we need to do and i still insist is that we need to do what coaches like lens and jack johnson did, they went to the grassroot and got the players from there remember the players we used to get from high school, remember when we use to take the likes of Felix Otieno from Homa-Bay to come and play for the team then go back to school after that, where are out scouts? GOR used to get player wale hawajulikani anywea to make them to be somewea what happened am still wondering

  • Sorry but at kshs.XXX,XXX per month I sincerely thought we’d be playing free flowing soccer and netting in the goals.I.e I thought tactically you would put us head and shoulders above the rest,at least in Kenya. That’s I was very vocal abt your being head coach.
    So far 2013 season proper-
    1. We beat 1-0 Sofameow, but were totally outplayed after we scored,
    2. We were whipped 2-0 by Ulinzi,
    3. Whipped 3-0 by ENPPI
    4. Scrappy 1-0 win against Mathare.
Why cry about Rama and Kiongera. Why not tell us what’s happened to Dan”Flava” who scored more than both these two last season,or why Lavasta potential is high but scoring rate is below par.
Problem, I think,is we don’t have a CREATIVE midfield that creates chances for our forwards.Rather strikers have to create chances for themselves. We are also very poor at set pieces.
P.S Administratively you are doing a good job.

  • @Ogango: pls see what the bloggers are saying. none of as is claiming to be coaches. we are just holding loger to the end of his bargain. the guy said he could deliver. that’s what we are asking. one shud not give excuses then that coz so and so is not there then i cannot deliver. Man U will not win the league coz of RVP … the bottom line is that ferguson is a master coach and even without RVP he was going to deliver, it’s only that with RVP he will end up with more goals. but does Man U play lousy football when RVP is on the bench,NO, the same manu style remains and goals still come. we are saying gor has 25 players, so two are out, where are the goals? where is the football that can open any defence? logar himself once said that if he was the national coach he can have two harambee stars and both would qualify for africa. what did he mean??

Wow! Guys I suggest we observe a truce. Tone down the very genuine sentiments and give our very own coach Logarusic some peace to string a surprise package for the ENPPI tie. I am sure he has read the comments and he knows things are serious. Just give him and the entire Tech Bench some breathing space. Yes, let us observe a truce atleast until after the weekend match.

I think majority of blogers r just football fans who do not know football.4r the last 6 seasons Gor started the league very badly occupying the last positions 4r a couple of wks b4 emerging strong as the lg progresses. This season we have pl 3 times & we have 6 points .others have played 6 times & have 4 points. So I think we’ve started the league well.Loga is the coach & is just stating the current state of his charges. But he is trying 2 ensure the team wins under such curcumstances.

Loga is a prof coach and he knows his job.Even if he lost against Ulinzi , it does not mean that he is the type that looses matches everytime & I believe that he is going 2 deliver. we r the team to beat and timbe duto ywak ne Gor.Let us not be worried yet we’ve a phylosophy of one game at a time or O.G.A.T

@dinga and Erick what kind of result delivery do you mean. This year the team has delivered good results. We have played 3 matches with 6 pnts. We are stil in the confederations cup competition. On coaching i would advice you to send ua cvs to the EC so that u be recruited as the head coach to deliver those results you want. Pls let Logar do his work.
