Gor Mahia up in arms over schedule

Gor Mahia and the Tusker Premier League are at loggerheads over what the club terms as outrageous scheduling. Secretary General George Bwana has indicated that it was impractical for the club to play Ulinzi on Wednesday, only 3 days after they play ENNPI of Egypt.

“We are not happy with KPL’s fixture allotment. They have slotted us to play Ulinzi Stars next Wednesday and as a club, we find this impractical and unworkable since Top 8 is a knockout tournament,” Bwana told the Daily Nation.

Bwana indicated that the scheduling contradicts an earlier agreemement that the club had reached with the league.

“This is against the agreement we reached earlier. We were slated to play the fourth match of the tournament (Top 8) and there is no way we can play two high profile matches in a space of five days.” said Bwana.

However Jack Oguda has said that Bwana’s claims have no merit. “The fixtures were released early enough and communicated to everybody. If they have an issue, they should write to us.” Oguda told the Nation.  He also indicated that it was commonplace all over the world for clubs to play a match 3 days after their last match.

Friendly

In another development, Gor Mahia will play Moyas FC in a friendly in preparation for their weekend encounter against ENPPI. The match will be played at 2:30 pm on Wednesday.

  • The SG should let the team play otherwise there is no need for playing to qualify for the continental championship and then thinking that the fixtures won’t be congested. Qualifying for CAF, Top 8, then entering FKF cup will definitely lead to a bloated fixture. The teams in UEFA played last night and some will play tonite and I can assue him that the same teams will still be playing over the weekend. The problem with GM is that we are using only around 14 players for the league yet we have over 25 players. Let the other players take part in the top 8, the world won’t come down if we are eliminated, at least the players will have learnt something to add to the league campaign. We cannot be continously whinning that things are not going our way. After all only 14 players will take part in the ENPPI match.

when you qualify to participate in various tournaments, fixture pile up should be expected the world over.Man Utd and Chelsea had league fixtures on Saturday and played against each other on Monday in the FA cup…..only 1 day of resting. Both teams rotated their players.
It therefore follows that Gor should not be an exception. The reason we are called a team is because we have over 25 players to choose from.Let those who wont play on Saturday against the Egyptians be given a run out on Wednesday vs Ulinzi to showcase their abilities!!otherwise we should not cry foul over the obvious.Chelsea will play 5 games in 13 days….need i go on??

Am kindly appealing to the technical bench to allow other players not regularly used participate in this tournament. Zach. Onyango, Yusuf Juma, David Otieno, Inocent Mutiso, Abbey Natty and others. This should be their tournament even if they will be loosing.

You wonder who the SG has chosen to fool! I echo the sentiments of my predecessors above.

Ooh Laa la “G.BWANA SHAME ON YOU & THAT IS COWARDICE”

@ Post #5 ; George ochoro , we should honor the match with or without our so called “superstars”. Although Zack will be out due to a serious right-knee injury, where as lavatsa has not yet fully recovered to his perennial ankle problem , as Kiongera is not yet back while Moses Otieno sat out in yesterday training due some infection. All the same we have a pool of 21 more players to choose from.

George Bwana should not fool us. Gor has enough players to allow participation in both tournaments. What is the large squad for or some of these players just joy riders!

  • The fixture shows that Kogalo is in football to play not to wait for simple opportunities to win. How can you be called a champion if you don’t prove it? GO KOGALO GO and prove to the world that you are real champions.
The technical team should give other players a chance too. Otherwise, why waste their career if they can’t play?

  • Zachary Onyango out due to serious knee injury???He must have got it while “training” but most likely was recruited WITH INJURY.
Fixture congestion was bound to happen when the first round matches were postponed almost 3 times for flimsy reasons and when league matches are rescheduled for teams with 2 players in H.Stars.
But that’s KPL and Executive Community for you.

Excuses ziko mingi siku hizi. Meanwhile players like Yusuf Juma have been sitting on the bench for so long that the bench is melting. Si wacheze.

And what about the 4 youth players whom the club was supposed to be loaning from Upper Hill ? Si wacha wacheze tuone.
