Gor Mahia 0 ENPPI 0

Gor Mahia were forced to a scoreless draw by Egyptian side ENPPI. They have thus exited from the CAF cup after having lost the 1st leg 0-3. The draw sees Kogalo fail to go beyond the  CAF Confederations cup 1st round for the 3rd consecutive time.

Gor Mahia started out in determined fashion and were the first to threaten the goal. Dan Sserunkuma weaved past ENPPI defenders and firmly planted the ball in the net only for the referee to cancel the goal for an infringement much to the chagrin of Gor Mahia fans.

In the second half, the introduction of Innocent Mutiso and Moses Odhiambo made Kogalo more lively. Odhiambo with his ability to spread neat passes that created a number of scoring chances and Mutiso with his speedy runs down the left flank that left fans wondering why he does not get more playing time.

Indeed despite creating far more chances than the Egyptians and often outplaying them, Gor Mahia could not find the net.

Coach Logarusic now wants to focus on the local scene: “We want to win two or more trophies with the emphasis being the local league” he told michezoafrika.com

Starting lineup: Fred Onyango , Solomon Nasio, Chris  Wekesa, Donald Mosoti, David Owino, Anthony Akumu, Ali Abondo, Kevin Omondi ,Joseph Njuguna,Danny Sserenkuma, Rama Salim

Subs:  Ivo Mapunda , Musa Mohammed, David Otieno,  Ivan Anguyo, Moses Odhiambo, Innocent Mutiso, Edwin Lavatsa.

  • Anyone who watched the match we agree with me that we have a team. Gor played very well though we could not get a goal especially in the 1st half because of that referee who blew his wistle whenever Sserunkuma had a scoring chance. I wonder how we conceded 3 goals against that team. Anyway kuna next time

We lost first leg bcos Loga thought that Anguyo was better than Owino in defence. Now I think he has realised that Owino is the best defender in the country and cannot aford to bench him in any competitive match. On the match today I think Mutiso aka wiper gave a good account of himself after being given a chance.I hope we will see more of him in the coming matches

  • Match was good coz we managed to hold them on a barren draw but still has to recover from all these injuries that caused the away match.

@5 Michael Odhiambo, who told you Logar underrated Owino? Be honnest. We lost in that game and that’s all. Tell me, How many goals were we to score with Owino instead of Anguyo? You are lying coz Logar has been using Owino in the defence several times. If you ask these players, they will tell you how Logar has been treating them equally.

@#7 Mr ochoro what I am stating is a fact.In the fast leg in egypt Owino was benched in 1st half and was only introduced in the sec half. After introduction of owino, there was stability in deffence and the third came very late in the dying minutes.Back at home when we were playing Ulinzi Loga benched Owino only to intrduce him after sensing danger at the deffence.when we played Mathare he used Owino in central deffence and there was stability and I think he has learned his lesson of ignoring Owino.

  • Forget the seychells team, I don’t understand this owino debate neither do i understand this thinking that gor mahia played well yesterday, the fact is the team is not scoring and in football if you cant score, you can’t win ! That’s why we are out of CAF ! simple

  • Let’s move on continental soccer is out of our dept for now.
Loga is finally admitting some things we’ve said all along. That Gor Mahia lacks individual talents.I will again narrow it further for him We lack CREATIVE MIDFIELDERS. You cannot expect Rama and Dan to create chances and finish them off. All you will get is industrious efforts and no goals.
Why the high balls when we have short forwards? We are no threat at corners and set pieces.
The buck stops with you coach i.e recruitment of quality players and tactics. Let’s see progress from now on.

A good game it was.An even better performance in the 2nd half, from gor and the referee.
If you compare our performances in the last three matches, (ulinzi, mathare, ennpi), you will realise an improvement in each and every game. The team may have been eliminated but valuable experience has been acquired which will help greatly going forward.
I agree with loga, that focus now shifts to the big eared tpl trophy, and agree even more with oduor12, who in one of his posts pointed out that the transition should be, tpl, cecafa then africa.
I think if we win the league and play several matches, in cecafa, the experience gained will be vital, and that will be a perfect launching pad for our big return to africa (the last three have been more of false starts).
Kiongeras’ s return to the team, is long overdue, I hear he has resumed light training. The long balls being sent from our half to rama/sserunkuma are not working, for the obvious reasons. We need not to bypass the midfield when launching attacks.
Special mentions to David owino jasirati aka victor moses aka calabar and innocent mutiso aka wiper. We have a good team, that just needs support and patience from the fans, good fielding and tactics from the t/bench and discipline and passion from the players, and voilla we’ll be there!

Team is growing. We need infusion of younger players to grow with it. The future is bright. Congrats Kogalo and let us know focus on the league. We have to win it this season.

  • If only we can learn how to play in away matches! Keep it up. Gor will win the Kenyan Premier League this year and then we have a stab at the Champions League.

@7 aka George Ochoro what @5 aka michael Odhiambo is saying is true,Loga said in the whole world he has never seen a short central defender,he always said Jasirati aka Calabar is a good player but not in the defence but after CECAFA is when the mans atittude changed, thats why he is also killing the talent of Musa mohamed,my take is partner musa and Jasirati and get instant result
